Butterscotch Blonde Color Matching

Have applied 4 coats of Oxford Butterscotch nitro to this Tele body. Very happy with the product/finish so far, however the resulting color lacks some of the warmth that I associate with a Butterscotch finish (possibly because I chose not to use primer?). At this point I was wondering if an easy fix would be to hit the body with a few light coats of either their tinted neck amber or aged clear to achieve some of that desired warmth before applying my final coats of clear (using their vintage formula clear).

Let me know! I’ve attached a few photos of the desired color I’m after.

Sanding Sealer Hell

Back to work on this tele build. I sanded the body up to 320 grit before applying two coats of Oxford sanding sealer. The finish at that point felt a bit rough/gritty so I very lightly sanded with 600 grit, wiped with mineral spirits, hit it with a tack cloth, and it was then feeling very smooth. Did one more coat with the sanding sealer but that texture is back. Should I sand it down with 600 again before hitting it with the butterscotch nitro or am I good to go ahead and spray?

For reference I’m not aiming for a high gloss finish. Final project is supposed to be a satin butterscotch.

Restoration help

Got this old guy for practically free. Will be putting it to good use for over the summer as I camp very frequently. I was thinking of doing a basic restoration/clean up and was wondering how I’d go about fixing up the cracks to the plastic shell? Not against just duct tapping it but if there a more permanent fix I’d love some insight!

Neck heel gap?

Back with more questions about this parts caster build. I have a Fender American Pro II tele body and will be planning on attaching a MIM Standard tele neck. The neck is a 22 fret neck so it has some overhang. From my understanding there is supposed to be a bit of a gap to accommodate the pick guard. However even with the pick guard there is a slight gap on the overhang piece.

Is this something I should be worried about for playability and set up purposes or is it strictly aesthetic - which in that case I’m okay leaving it. If I do have to adjust this, I imagine taking a router to the neck pocket would be my best bet? Thanks!

Hell removing finish off tele body

Working on my first partcaster build and got a really good deal on a American Pro II tele body. It had some type of black lacquer finish on it and I got to work removing it using citri strip, a plastic scraper, and some steel wool and mineral spirits to get the junk of.

I’m wondering what I can do about getting the finish off of the body cavity holes. I wasn’t planning on removing the finish there however some citri strip got in and junked it up. I’d like to have a cleaner surface for the electronics to go in. Any advice? I don’t necessarily need to get rid of all the finish just make it look neater.

And then there were two…

2014 and 2010 Fender Standard Tele’s. The white one’s the newest edition to the collection. I fear won’t stop buying more Telecasters lol

Fender Pro Jr. Question

Hi there! I have the chance to buy an older Pro Jr. for very cheap and was wondering if it would be a good fit for me.

Currently I’m using a Boss Katana MKII that I don’t dislike, however I’m not a huge fan of having to use external software to really dial in a nice tone. I’ve also been wanting to step into the tube amp world for a little while now regardless.

I tend to play primarily country music, classic rock, and grunge mostly at my apartment. From what I understand I’ll be able to get solid clean tones at lower volumes but won’t be able to get that iconic tube breakup until louder volumes.

So with that said, would this be a good amp for achieving a nice country sound given the clean tone, plus pedals such as a reverb, slap delay etc? Regarding the other genres would distortion and overdrive pedals still sound decent at lower volumes? Lastly given the limited volume and tone knobs, would it make sense to pick up and EQ pedal to really dial in the sound?

Thanks yall.

Gave my tele a little makeover

Replaced the original bridge with a vintage three-barrel one, got some brass parts, and swapped the pick-guard for a vintage pearloid one. With certain lighting, the pick-guard has a warmer brassy color to it, as seen in the last picture.
