Quick vent and some questions. Just got my sx-990 back from the audio tech. First, the original two prong power cord was not replaced- is this causing the loud pop I hear when switching it on? Second, the tuner dial won't move past the halfway point. Is this something I could potentially fix myself or is it going to be another 3 hour round trip for me to have them fix it? I'm somewhat annoyed and I haven't even tested phono outputs and speaker b outputs yet. They also forgot to include the speaker jack adapters I was missing.
This came from the garage of a WWII vet who lived close by. The family told me that he worked on bomber planes. Wondering if the group can shed any light on what aircraft this could be from. I wish I knew the story of how he got it.
I have purchased my first tube stereo amplifier and am very excited to use it. Even though I desperately want to power it on, I know it should first be serviced since it has not been used in a long time. I confirmed with the family members that they did not test it. Included was a pair of Wharfedale W60 speakers, which I've been playing at very low volume for about 12 hours now. I've read this is a safer way to "get the juices flowing". After deoxing the pot on the rear panel they're sounding good so far. Finally, included was a Garrand A70 which I know little about. This is the only piece that I believe was stored in the garage instead of the house so it's far dirtier. I'm not sure I'll be servicing this one to keep as I have no need for the auto record changer and I rarely play 45s or 78s. I already have two fully functioning 80s era tables. On the other hand the Garrard does match this older system which I'm guessing is around the early 60s. Any and all wisdom and advice regarding these is appreciated. TIA.
Found at one of the antique stores I frequent in town for $35. It’s an ‘80s reissue but I’m still really excited to hear it. I’ll never have a mint original. Fingers crossed that it’s not warped.
Hello. I’m having trouble finding out what type of ground wire I need for this MCS series A 6730 linear tracking table. It’s not like a 1/4” jack. I was hoping I could make one but it’s looking like some kind of proprietary input? Anyone know? TIA
