Searching for church records (~1840-1920) from current day Poroshkovo, Ukraine

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out where I can find these. I searched a few hundred images I thought I'd found last night, but I think I was looking at Porostov, Slovakia...oof...still found a low occurrence of the surname I was looking for! hooray...

I have to believe I've got my districts/counties and their timeframes messed up, so I'm hoping someone vastly more knowledgeable than myself (not hard) can help direct me and if possible, directly link me to where I might look.

So, correct me here if I'm wrong: If I'm looking for records before 1918, I'd need to search in Poroskö, Ung, Hungary; if I'm looking for records between 1918-1993, I'd need to search in Munkács, Czechoslovakia; and if I'm looking past that, it would be Poroshkovo, Ukraine?

  • I am looking for the surname Stimik/Stimak. I think other variations might be: Szemic, Szemik, Szemák
  • Specifically, I am hoping to find a Mihaly/Michael Stimik (b. abt 1890) who married a Julia "Kerechun" (b. abt 1893) in June 1911. They may have had a child soon after this. There is a loosely-remembered family story that a child was left behind when the family left for America.
  • His parents might have been Metor/Petro and Sofiya Stimik. Her father may have been Janos/Johannes, based on naming conventions.
  • Mihaly/Michael Stimik leaves for America in December 1911. Allegedly he came back right around the time they would've needed to conceive Michael jr, but I haven't found a second ship manifest.
  • Julia and her son Michael (Mihaly) Stimik jr (b. 1918/1920) leave for Binghamton,NY in 1921.
  • The family identified as Rusyn/Ruthenian but they seemingly were Russian Orthodox and not Greek Catholic.
  • Another Stimak family in Binghamton, who I believe has to be connected to them in some way, also were Russian Orthodox. The family tree creator I spoke with said they were from Poroshko, but some of the records they have say Turja Bistra/Tu'ya Bystra, another village close by.

These are some resources I've already looked at but they probably need a more thorough look.

Veľká Poľana and Poroshko church records?

Need some help figuring out where or even whether or not I can find these online to search!

I think Veľká Poľana may be a long-shot based on what little about the church records I’ve been able to find online, which is very disappointing since most of my family is from there, but hoping I may have some luck with Poroshko.

I believe Poroshko was in the Ung district of Hungary up until 1918? I’m really hoping to find some records between 1910-1918 to help solve a little mystery for my cousin.🤞

I swear I found some Ung district records digitized the other day, but of course did not save the source…

Thank you!

Need help identifying town

Thought this sub might be able to help the most since I am looking at Rusyn ancestry!

I know his mother and himself are listed as coming from Poroshkovo, but I'm not sure what "Mukaczev" is supposed to refer to. With my extremely limited knowledge, the only place I can come up with is Mukachevo, but as far as I know, that's an entirely separate town and not a district/county designation.

Any help clarifying this?

Bonus question if it catches your eye: His mother's last name is listed in a couple transcription-only records as: Kirchen, Karacun, Kerecan. Any clues as to the actual surname this might be?

From a 1912 ship manifest coming into NY. I'm looking at line 16.

It seems like it says "Junction" but there's no town in PA named Junction, as far as I can tell.

I found a Mihaly Harola in Forward, Allegheny, PA in 1920, but so far that hasn't led me anywhere useful.

Finally trying to keep up on yard work after inheriting my home and being entirely overwhelmed!

This spot faces north and gets pretty bright sun all day.

My first thought was a trellis and tomatoes, since I love the idea of something going up the side of the house? Or maybe various herbs? Or would be entirely happy with something non-edible and pretty.
