Hi,
i am looking for a moderator for /r/schizophrenia\_support community who can help grow this community. Somebody who is passionate about mental health, and if there is lived experience, then it would be great.
Thank you for taking interest in this cause.

I've been wondering whether delusions can sometimes be understood not only as false beliefs but also as attempts to make sense of overwhelming experiences. I wrote about this here, and I'd really appreciate hearing how others think about it.

A few of us met yesterday for our schizophrenia support group on Zoom.

We spoke about critical, threatening, and commanding voices, and explored how we might begin to build a different relationship with them. We reflected on how these voices can sometimes be connected to painful experiences from the past—times when similar messages were spoken by others and became deeply internalized.

Rather than viewing these experiences only as symptoms, we tried to look beneath them and understand the human experiences, relationships, losses, and wounds that may lie underneath. We offered attention and significance to experiences that are often overlooked or dismissed, sometimes even within mental health services.

One person shared how unlovable they feel in this world, and it touched my heart. Another shared how their voices threatened to kill them if they disclosed anything to a psychologist. Someone else spoke about experiences of abandonment in childhood and the attachment struggles that followed.

Together, we explored the stigma that can accompany a diagnosis of schizophrenia and the additional burden that many people carry as a result. In one another's company, we experienced moments of connection, warmth, intimacy, quiet sadness, acceptance, and hope.

We are grateful for the courage of everyone who participated. Thank you to everyone who joined yesterday's meeting and contributed to such a thoughtful discussion. 🙏

If you are living with schizophrenia and are looking for a space where your experiences can be shared, listened to, and explored with others, you are welcome to join us in future support group meetings.

In midst of suffering, what is meaningful for you?
Hi evryone,
i wanted to know whether are there any communities exist where people with schizophrenia can live with agency and dignity? where they are not pushed on heavy medication and can live with respect and also getting proper care and treatment, which is holistic.
for example something like what R.D. Laing tried to do, a build a home ans community for people witj schizophrenia to heal.
Please let me know if you may know, in any part of the world. Thank you

Welcome to r/Schizophrenia_support
Living with schizophrenia or psychosis can be deeply isolating. Many of us carry experiences that are difficult to explain to others — fear, confusion, loneliness, stigma, unusual experiences, medication struggles, recovery journeys, and the search for meaning and connection.
This community was created as a supportive space where people can speak openly, ask questions, share experiences, and feel less alone.
You are welcome here whether you:
• live with schizophrenia or psychosis
• are recovering from an episode
• support a loved one
• are exploring understanding beyond stigma and labels
• simply need a place to talk
What can you post?
• personal experiences and stories
• questions about daily life, recovery, relationships, or coping
• psychosocial and emotional reflections
• art, writing, or creative expression
• supportive discussions and resources
Community vibe:
We aim to build a calm, respectful, and humane environment — one without ridicule, hostility, or clinical judgment. Please treat others gently. Many people here are carrying difficult experiences.
Some questions we hope this community can explore together:
• What does schizophrenia feel like from the inside?
• What has helped you survive difficult periods?
• What harms people within mental health systems?
• What does recovery actually mean to you?
• How can families and friends listen differently?
• Can psychosis carry emotional or personal meaning?
How to get started:
• Introduce yourself in the comments if you'd like
• Share a question or experience
• Support someone else’s post with kindness and understanding
If you’d like to help moderate or contribute to the community, feel free to reach out.
Thank you for being part of the beginning of r/Schizophrenia_support. Hopefully, together we can create a space of understanding, dignity, and connection.
Living with schizophrenia can be really challenging, and it is often a very lonely path to walk. You don’t have to walk it alone.
I have started a weekly support group on Zoom (Every Saturday at 5:30 PM IST) to bring people together—a space to share our experiences, talk through the hard days, and support one another. It’s a warm, quiet, and understanding place where you can just be yourself.

It is true that we live in unequal world, where so much of loss and violence is brushed under the carpet. the desire for ideal life and world is constant purusit for both peacemakers and people who have schizophrenia. In the deepest core of schizophrenia is perhaps a house that is burning. A house that could become home, that could never be inhabutated. To be born from this place, is like being born in a hospital which has been bombed
