Executive Assessment (EA) really that easy?

I did the free Executive Assessment Sampler on the GMAC website. It had like 3-4 questions for 1.) reasoning 2.) text comprehension 3.) and finally some quant questions.

One of the quant questions I was not able to answer because I forgot how to do algebra. But overall the test was super easy and I got everything correct.

Is EA from GMAC really on the same level as im the these simulations/free samples?

Is UCL an elite prestigous uni?

I got an offer from ETH in Switzerland and UCL in the UK. Both MSc are in engineering and policy but I can‘t decide both are ranked 8th worldwide. Hence I decided to also consider the elite/prestige factor. Would you say UCL is an elite prestigous Uni?

My main thought: When applying for a position with identical profiles and it comes to uni brand recognition would UCL or ETH win.

UCL MSc STEaPP or KCL MSc Digital Economies

Hi all,

I'm from Switzerland and have worked 3 years in information security. I recently earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from a small local school. I'm interested in Digital Strategy and came across the MSc in Digital Economies at KCL. I also really enjoy policy-making and tech governance, so the MSc STEaPP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy) at UCL could make sense too. Both are online and can be done remotely, which is great for me because I work and have bills to pay, but it still lets me earn a somehow decent degree. That said, I really can't decide between them.

Which one would you recommend?

MBA worth it for me?

Hi all,

I have a BSc in Business Administration and started my career at a Big Four firm, where I worked in IT Risk, Cybersecurity, and IT Audit engagements. After eight years at the Big Four, I recently moved to a smaller bank as a Deputy CISO. On my current career path, the CISO role seems to be the natural ceiling. I currently earn around €125,000 per year, although my salary is somewhat lower than I had hoped because of the current economic environment and the fact that the bank is relatively small.

My motivation for pursuing an MBA is to move away from cybersecurity and information security into more strategy-oriented business roles. My dream has always been to work in management consulting at an MBB firm.

Given that I already have eight years of experience at a Big Four firm and now work as a Deputy CISO, does an MBA still make sense if my goal is to transition into strategy-focused business roles? Or would my experience make such a career change difficult, even with an MBA?

Part-time MBA at HSG

I am from Switzerland and worked 6 years at Big4 in Tech Transformation. I now work as a CISO for a smaller firm but actually want a career switch that away from Technology & Security. That is why I am considering to do the part-time MBA at HSG. I mainly plan to stay in Switzerland and would love to move to Strategy Consulting (MBB or in-house).

Would the the part-time MBA from HSG help join MBB in Switzerland or does it have to be fulltime IMD, Insead etc?

Anyone studying at UCL MSc Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy (STEaPP)?

Is anyone here studying the at UCL MSc in Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP)? I’d love to hear about the career prospects.

My goal is to move into consulting, specifically around governance and regulation for emerging technologies. Did anyone go on to join an MBB firm (Quantumblack McKinsey, BCG platinon), a Big Four firm, or something similar? Thanks

Not a 'Numbers Guy' — Is Investment Banking / M&A Still Realistic?

am currently studying for my undergraduate degree at HSG (Universität St. Gallen) in Switzerland. My original plan was to break into Investment Banking, but I am really struggling at university to grasp the quantitative parts of the Corporate Finance and M&A classes, and it takes me quite a long time to comprehend the material. Maths was always my weaker subject, and I have always been more creative and word-oriented. So I thought I might change my strategy and aim for MBB instead.

Do you need to be a "numbers guy" for IB? I've just realised that I am weaker than others at anything involving numbers or maths, but I excel at other, more strategic tasks. Has anyone else struggled at university, isn't a "numbers person," and is still able to perform well in IB?

Online/Distance Masters

Hi All,

I was considering doing the MSc in Digital Economies at KCL. This programme is remote/online/distance-based. Which I think is great as I work and live outside the UK.

However, does anyone have insights whether the study mode (online) is displayed on the certificate or the transcripts? I heard that it might devalue the degree a bit.

from IT Audit to T M&A

Hi all, I have 6 years of experience in IT-Audit and am now planning to apply for an IT M&A Role. From what I understand so far many skills and know-how from IT-Audit can be used as it is essentially to evaluate the current state, risks, red-flags of a buy or sell side IT Landscape and based on that help carve out the strategy to harmonise the two. Anyone from IT-Audit who was able to move to IT M&A and has some insights on how to prepare for the interviews or any further insights on the job? Thanks a lot!

Temporary contracts - Whitecollar

I’ve been noticing a trend over the past few months: many firms, Julius Bär among them, are posting white-collar roles as temporary positions. Any HR professionals here who can shed light on whether this is a deliberate strategic choice.
