First Marathon Done ✅

28F who had done a handful of half-marathons before today.

My goal was sub 5 hours, stretch goal was 4:45, and I finished in 4:43:16! I probably could have finished closer to 4:30 but my knees started hurting around mile 22. I couldn’t run consistently without being in immense pain so had to run/walk the last 4 miles.

My body feels decent now but my knees are miserable. Been icing and resting but I know tomorrow is gonna be rough at work.

Diaper Rash Prevention

I am so embarrassed by this but it is becoming a bigger problem.

I am 12 weeks into my first ever marathon training block. I live in a climate where most of my runs are around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 55% humidity on average.

Since I’m running for so long in the heat, I sweat a lot. I already sweat more than the average woman so by the end of my run, I am drenched. The moisture and friction is causing a lot of painful irritation downstairs, particularly around my butt.

I was recommended to put on a layer of Vaseline where I get irritation but it didn’t seem to help much and just made my shorts nasty by the end of my run.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to prevent this? Different shorts? Maybe a different barrier?

Should I surprise my mother for her 60th birthday or tell her I’m coming?

My mother is turning 60 this year in August. I moved a few years ago for work and now live a few states away.

Due to everyone’s schedules, my sibling and I can visit her two weeks after her actual birthday to celebrate together the whole weekend.

Originally I was going to surprise her and not tell her I was coming. However, my sister made a good point that my mom loves getting the house together for me and enjoys planning for my visit. Half of the excitement for her I believe comes from looking forward to me coming home. My sister thinks I should tell my mom on her actual birthday I’ll be home in two weeks to celebrate her day.

My dad thinks I shouldn’t say anything and surprise her. She’ll find out when I walk through the door.

I’m torn on what to do. What do you think I should do?

Toilet Tank Lid Replacement

I’m hoping someone can direct me since this has been a long endeavor.

I will keep the story short but my boyfriend broke our lid for our toilet tank. It’s a Lowe’s Project Source toilet, per the stamp on it. We live in an apartment and this seems to be the budget line for Lowe’s.

We have tried to order a lid from Lowe’s and have not had luck. It was too small.

We have a SKU stamped on the inside of the tank, we took it to the store and had the employee match the part in their system, and they ordered the lid. However, when the lid came in, it had a barcode printed on it. It didn’t match the part number. We pointed it out and the employee said the box was right so it had to be the right lid.

Any advice on what to do? We’re going to try Lowe’s again but it’s becoming surprisingly hard to order a replacement lid that is the correct dimensions.
