Areas to target for a family

Hey folks,

We are looking to move to Newmarket/Aurora region from Waterloo, ON and we would like to know what areas are more suitable for families. We were thinking about renting first to learn the area but decided to spend this summer in the city to learn about it, and explore some of neighborhoods. We are looking for a quiet and family-oriented neighborhood (no students/young adults who like to throw parties), good school nearby, close to parks/trails to walk our dog.

My colleague at work recommended Stonehaven-Wyndham, Woodland Hill. Any other ones that you can recommend?

Areas to target in GTA to rent/buy (family-oriented, near park/trails, quiet)

Hey folks,

We are family and we currently live in KW area. With the RTO, our commutes are becoming pretty challenging and we are looking to move closer to Toronto. I am not very familiar with GTA and thus, looking for advise. We will be looking to rent first but not opposed to buying (rent preferred as it will allow us to get out of it with less losses if we don't like areas/etc.)

What we are looking for is family oriented neighborhood, close to parks, and it should be fairly quiet (no partying, no weed smells on balcony, no cars revving their engines at 2 AM).

Another preferred criteria is within a driveable distance (or public trasportation) to any Go Station. I currently take Kitchener line but any GO should be fine.

We are not targeting Toronto DT but rather, GTA. We are looking at rent-controlled condos or rent-controlled rentals.

Budget: I am flexible and at this moment, just trying to understand how much it would cost for us to live in those places.

1 year old corgi refuses to eat: behaviour or medical issue

  • Species: Pembroke welsh corgi
  • Age: 13 month
  • Sex/Neuter status: F/Not Spayed yet (July)
  • Breed: Pembroke welsh corgi
  • Body weight: 10kg (22 lbs)
  • History: NA
  • Clinical signs: NA
  • Duration: one and off for a week or so
  • Your general location: Waterloo, ON, Canada
  • Links to any test results, X-rays, vet reports etc. that you have: Not yet

Hey folks,

I have a corgi that is 1 year old. Previously she would not refuse anything when it comes to food but for the last 1-2 weeks she has been becoming more and more picky with her food. Here is a chronological order:

  • Mid April I started noticing that she would refuse to eat either dental sticks, or sweet potato (dry). Around the same time, I noticed some blood on her toys, white socks that she would steal, and napkins. Took to the vet who presribed Metacan. I also removed any Betterbones, Kongs, or anything that she would chew on. As of right now, I still see a little blood but it's much less that before. That blood is mostly coming from a gum that is right next to a tooth. She would still chew on her dental sticks but she can easily not eat it at all; very random.

  • Around long weekend in Canada (Victoria Day), she had an incident when she choked on a treat. She got very excited and I tried to calm her down with the regular routine: sit, settle, down, paw. That would usually calm her down but this time, she choked on a treat. She couldn't get it out and I tried to perform CPR on her. She eventually coughed a piece out but started having a very rough breath; sounded like Darth Vader in the mask. Took her to ER that checked her out and prescribed Sulcrate Suspencion. Took her to our regular vet the next day who checked her out and confirmed that most likely cause is that her throat is inflammated; solution is to use that medicine as prescribed. The next day after giving her another dose of Sulcrate she made a move like she is about to throw up and coughed out a piece of dry kibble. Darth Vader sound disappeared immediately. We called our vet who said that if there are no coughs, then she is not concerned about long term adversarial effects.

  • We started giving her kefir that we bought at a local pet shop about a month ago. She loves it dearly. If I give her dry kibble she would refuse to it; she eats it just fine if I add kefir. She would also not eat her soft food that we would stuff her Kong with; something she loved before. If I don't give her kefir with her kibble, she just wouldn't touch it. We switched kibble brand as well (from FirstMate to Oven Baked) and for the first 2-3 times she ate it normally; then she stopped. Yesterday at dinner, I gave her kibble and after she didn't eat for 20 minutes, I sprayed it with a little of warm water. She ate it afterwards.

I have an appointment with the vet but I am curious what could be the reason. Her energy level is through the roof when she is outside and she is mostly sleeping/laying when she is at home.

CPA/Tax accountant recommendation

Hey folks,

I am looking for a new tax accountant after having less than stellar experience with the previous one. I am looking for help on T4s and T2125 as I have both full time job and side hustle with T4A. I also want to continue working with that person for many years and in future, get help with other things.

What I am also looking for is for accountant to explain me clearly my options and help me with CRA requests if they come in. I am local to Waterloo but open to KWC.

Also, what is the expected rate for what I am looking for?

Hey folks,

Started commuting to the Toronto office and I am looking for an advice on a cell phone provider that has a stable internet most of the way. I am currently with Fido and as soon as the train leaves any station, I am loosing my 5G and cannot do much on my laptop (connected through hotspot). I cannot use train's WIFI with my work laptop.

Anyone has experience if Bell/Virgin or Telus are better? Thanks.
