Milk Kefir grains survived

After receiving my grains (about 1 tablespoon)and reviving them over three days, they were doing great until my autistic son dumped them out in the grass on hot summer day. Not sure how long they were out maybe an hour or so. I gathered what I could out of the grass and threw them in with the those stuck in the jar. Looked like I had about half of what I started with, rinsed them with milk and within the next 24 hours they produced perfect Kefir. It’s like a little sunlight supercharged them. Glad they were resilient.

The tape is the more Likely culprit

People think it’s cutting the chicken bags apart that can cause leaks. But I found pulling the tape apart haphazardly is more likely to cause a leak than sloppy cutting.

What’s going on in the trunk?

  1. Pic 1- What was all the original equipment that came in these slots?

  2. Is anybody removing the foam liner so they can do the “divide and hide”. What are everybody’s thoughts about this option.

  3. What are you doing to secure cargo or groceries? Did this come with some sort of net originally? Is anybody using the luggage hooks and what type of strap are you using to hook to it?

  4. Last picture of the 3- Can somebody tell me what this piece that was in my trunk is (metal piece still in bag with screws)

How can I explain this???

Yes, I know we are all rolling our eyes at the telepathy tapes and letter boarding. Seriously though , sometimes my nonverbal 11 year-old trips me out.
Today’s example is that I stopped at Walmart on my way home from a doctors appointment, it’s not our local Walmart and as is one we have rarely visited in the past. Shortly After I got home and put the groceries away, he brought me an iPad and pulled up the Walmart I was just at on his Google Maps.(he communicates through Google maps often, it was actually a big win for us when he started doing this because he totally non verbal).
I was very surprised at first and then realized he must’ve saw the Walmart bags when I was putting the groceries away. Mystery solved, except how did he choose that particular Walmart that is out of the way.
I rewarded him communicating with me by taking him to the Walmart he was requesting.
Bonus weirdness, we meandered around the store a bit and eventually ended up in the baking aisle when I realized I had forgot to get granulated sugar from my previous trip.
(of course we did end up with some of his favorite popsicles as well).
