RA @ Cardiff Castle

Thank you Rise, for another great show yesterday at Cardiff castle supporting Jimmy Eat World.

Anyone else go to this last night? I thought the sound was ok, drums a little overpowering but generally a great show!

The megaphone came out again, I’m not sure this works still, it’s hard to hear for me.

Set list was:

Best paint for bone / flesh?

Hi all, just painting through my nids and I can’t seem to replicate the white / bone / fleshy under carapace area as seen on most leviathan themes.

I’ve returned to painting after a 20 year break, so a bit out of touch with new citadel paints etc, but I guess I’m looking for a wash / contrast to pick out the recesses of the under carapace bone / ribs.

I’ve been priming in wraithbone, which I love, and then my first attempt was to use Skeleton Horde contrast. This came out really dark, even on light / watered down application. I’ve rebased in wraithbone and then drybrushed a pure white over the ribs now, it adds a little texture but it’s not obvious.

Any recommendations? Ideally using citadel paints as I can get easily.

[TOMT] “Now what” movie in the 90s?

I remember seeing a film as a kid, would’ve been late 80s or anytime in the 90s.

I’m sure the main guy had a beard, and there might’ve been aliens / monsters.

I remember his catch phrase being “Now what?” usually on the cusp of something bad about the happen.

I remember the ending being like a swarm of monsters or similar, there seeming to be no hope, and his voice over..”Now what…?”.

Am I going insane?

How do you feel about Generation X?

Pretty much as the title says, how do you feel about the next generation before us?

I’m an 84 baby, and the youngest in my family so my two older siblings are both Gen X. There are certain things we can find common ground on, whereas others we might as well be living on a different planet.

For context, my brother (‘80) didn’t use a computer at all until he started working full time. He’s now working lower paid jobs after redundancy and divorce a good ten years ago. He’s four years older than me, but has such a different approach to work, career and tech. He’s also aware that he’ll likely never own his own house.

My sister (‘76) bought her house in 2002, for around 18k. It’s now worth near 300 after having it extended several times. She’s worked low paid jobs all her life and not had kids until much later, but she is very comfortable, and very close to a boomer mentality. It’s very hard to talk about anything, we might as well be from different planets.

Just curious to hear all your thoughts, this sub always resonates well with me so I’d be intrigued to hear!
