LED modded RG Wing Gundam Zero

i used a single tiny (0402 smd) green led in the head

the wires can come out behind the neck, under the collar armor and exit around the lower back under the backpack.

next, i chose to add a pair of green 0402 leds to the chesticles,

basically, i used the inner frame's upper attachement ports for chest armor for led placement.

i also cut out small channels in the inner frame to run the wires around the neck and under the armor and join the head unit led wires at the back.

i intentinoally lef the center piece as-is as it has a silver part inside which reflects the light beautifully and it also brings nice contrast to the chesticles' lights.

in the wings i used pink led strip filaments and some specialized 3m glue for rubber and plastic that dries clean. to manage the wires, i modified the support arms for the wings but i had to leave some slack for articulation which unfortunately remains quite visible.

need to find some thinner wires for better results in the future.

all of the wires meet up nicely under the backpack's action base mount and i chose a white transparent 3mm wrapper to tidy them all up, at the end of the main power wire, i added a 100 ohm resistor and a quick connect adapter.

Got to build one of my grails - MG EX-S ver.1.5 - Timeless model kit!

Finally got a chance to build one of my grails, thanks to the recent reprint. What a timeless design this beauty is! Although, I struggled a fair bit with its many gate marks, the time spent, imo, was well wroth it!

Also, did a few custom mods to it - green led in the eyes, blue led in each sabre handle, a blue led in the rifle's side scope, and some red leds in the back thrusters. Nothing too brush :) But the kit turned into a statue because of that (running wires inside it) 🤷

oh, and the little mgsd buddy is a 3p kit from anaheim collectibles - not the best experience with that one. its a cool attempt and i appreciate the effort, but it has quite a few issues (hard plastic on joints cracks and gets loose, quite finicky to handle to begin with, etc etc) and the standard price for it is a bit ridiculous.

Cheers!

PGU Nu Gundam - KOSMOS LED

This LED is pretty damn good! Especially considering the 60 dollar price 🤷

Alternatively, I have done a custom LED solution for my PGU NU when I originally built the kit to replace the main body LED module - the Bandai OG LED was just too expensive for me at the time, considering the price of the kit being quite high already - and that one comes at around 10 bucks. Check my earlier posts or profile if you're interested ;)

PGU Nu Gundam - KOSMOS LED Set Review

Not sure if Customizing is the right flair here. Technically I wouldn't consider this Kosmos LED as customization to the original Bandai kit but since I also chose to modify its action base - customizing it is :)

This LED is pretty damn good! It comes in 3 main modules, 1 replacing the OG Bandai LED solution for PGU Nu and improving upon it by swapping chesticle modules with 5-LED RGB solutions; a new backpack thruster LED solution, and of the course the massive fin funnel LED solution.

The first group of LEDs is super easy to install as you simply follow the OG guide.

The backpack group simply needs you to take of the thrusters and place the LED pcb's inside the metal verniers - no mods needed.

and the third group - funnels - can be a little time consuming, if you go for the 6-funnel version, as there's lots of tape and wire management to deal with, but, once again - no permanent modification is necessary.

This is my 9th LED set from Kosmos, and its definitely one of their best ones so far, both in terms of value and execution.

Hope this info comes in handy and happy building!

Motor Nuclear JiHu II - my latest build (no.56) - Master Jaeger!

My third motor nuclear build and they definitely delivered a hell of a kit! Notwithstanding some rather unfortunate penny pinching decisions that diminish the value of this kit - it is still arguably one of the best on the market atm. Enjoyed building it very much!

Just finishes Motor Nuclear JiHu II - Master Jaeger!!

my third Motor Nuclear build and first of their 'truly' mechanical ones. Phenomenal experience and the armor gimmicks completely blown me off my feet!

Wolf technology woo model 1/100 kit. My most recent build and review on the channel. Hell of a design and a build but with one rather major issue 🤷
