How to document self-made oil changes?

Hi all,

last June I bought my first motorcycle, a '23 Ducati Monster SP, which had around 9.6k km on the odometer at the time.

I had an issue with the catalytic converter being faulty (cracked metal), so I brought it in to my local Ducati dealership a couple of weeks ago (issue was taken care of under Ducati Red extended warranty), so I took the opportunity to have them do an annual service as well.
The previous owner had a Ducati receipt for the 1000km service and a receipt for a full service (oil change, coolant change, brake fluid change) from an independent garage from Jan this year.
He told me he'd done oil changes yearly, but these are the only two receipts I got; I figured that since the bike runs well, given the age of the bike and mileage, it's not ideal, but should be ok nonetheless. I figured I'd have Ducati take a good look, perform an annual service, turn off the service light and ascertain that everything is good, so that I have a fresh Ducati invoice to start from.

Thing is, the annual service set me back around €380 for essentially a glorified oil change and most of that is labor (parts are around €100 and I live in a HCOL area). I foresee that my next big milestone is the first Desmo service in a couple of years (I got quoted €1900 for it, it'll probably be more by the time I get it done), so I thought I'd do my next oil change myself next year. There's a deal for an oil change kit from Ducati for around €100 presently and I like working on my bike. I'm thinking that with all the stuff that's going on around the world it's a good price to secure now. I could get an even lower price by getting a 4L bottle of Motul 7100 15w50 and a HighfloFiltro filter on Amazon, but I think I want to stick with Ducati stuff ahead of the Desmo service.

I am just curious on how to document this, should I ever resell the bike. I'm not too concerned about Ducati's warranty, if I get a last warranty extension it'll expire in early 2028, it's mostly about reselling it to any 3rd party one day. How do you guys do?

Ducati Monster 23 crack in exhaust?

Hi, upon washing my 2023 Ducati Monster SP today I noticed this crack on the exhaust, between the catalytic converter and the Termignoni slip on.
Is this anything to worry about? (Photos from above and underneath)

Grip on shiny asphalt?

Hi all, I’m vacationing in southern Turkey and have noticed that most roads are extremely shiny due to tire rubber and other contaminants accumulating on the surface, and lack of rainfall to wash it all away (I guess?).
The road surface feels slippery by just walking and dragging my feet on it; car tires easily squeak when braking a little hard or manoeuvring to park, like on the shiny concrete of underground parking lots.

Obviously, this isn’t the first time I notice this, however in my experience it seems more prevalent in southern Europe where it’s dry and hot, and not so much in colder climates where I am from.
This summer’s heatwaves have brought a similar appearance to the roads of my country and I’ve felt uncomfortable riding on such surfaces.

What’s the consensus on this type of surface? I’m particularly interested in dry situations

Merci d’avance!

Monster SP fairings (OEM)?

Hi, I recently asked here about how to polish some surface scratches out of my 2023 Monster SP.
I’ll probably try and use some Meguiar’s ScratchX or Ultimate compound by hand, however in case I mess up big time (or in case I drop my bike at some point), where can I buy OEM fairings for the SP except for dealerships?

Thanks!

Hand polish on fairings?

Hi all, around a month back I bought a used Monster SP that’s in like new condition except for minor wear on the handles and foot peg rubbers and some light scratches on the fairings (see pics).
Somebody recommended hand polishing with Meguiar’s ultimate compound, however I wonder if anybody had some experience with this.
The scratches are superficial and minor tbh so I could do without polishing as well.

Any advice?

Finally joining the Club

Last Monday I bought this beauty, a 2023 Monster SP and I’m beyond elated.
It’s been very well kept, only 9,600km on the odometer and regular maintenance done.
It’s got a few nice upgrades too: heated handlebars, Ducati Performance radiator grill cover and plate support, Rizoma water pump cover.
