U1 Coke didn't flood

I'm happy to report my U1 GMT Master II Coke held fine while swimming in the ocean and a pool today. That's a plus already. I wonder how the bracelet steel would hold over periodic exposure. I can already see a brown spot in the underside of the clasp.

U1 review

Finally bought a U1 GMT Master II

I finally decided to buy a U1 GMT Master II from Michael Travis (Dhgate), referred to as a "shitter" by most of people here, and see what U1 is all about.

Transaction went fine, shipped by Dhgate, and GOFO once in the US, took about two weeks.

Expecting a Pepsi, I got a Coke, but it was my fault. I had inadvertently chosen a Coke when selecting the watch in my phone from the many choices available as small pictures.

The watch looks nice outside I have to admit. The movement is definitely a shitter, it feels a little rough when moving the hands, the date advances with the hour hand in position 1, but it keeps the time very well. The crown was hard to screw in, so I added a dab of silicon grease to ease it. The ST9 bracelet is not bad, but the microadjustment is a royal pain in the ass. It is very long, my wrist is 7.25", and I had to take 3 links off, but then it was still a little loose. I spent at least 20 minutes looking up and figuring out how to snap the microadjust part off so the spring bar could be accessed to move it one notch in. I used a small flat screwdriver, twisting it, to finally open it (insert it exactly where the arrow head ends) and see the occult spring bar. Once moved in one dimple, using a spring tool to do this, it fit perfectly. Overall, I'm happy with it for $130, and the Coke bezel insert has grown in me. I will later try to replace it with a Batman bezel, which now I like more than the Pepsi.

What's your experience with U1s?

Can this glass be buffed out instead of changed for $700 at an AD?

My friend has a 36 mm genuine vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual 18k gold from 1950, inherited from his father. The glass is kind of dome, bubble like and gets scratched a lot. The AD charges about $750 to put a new glass. What could he do to buff it out?

Any watch maker in Monmouth County, NJ?

I'm looking for a watch maker in Central Jersey who can work on Asian movements, like cleaning and oiling a new rep watch, or repairing it. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Panerai watches on Etsy

\\\[question\\\] I ran into several Panerai Luminor Marina watches ("vintage" so they claim) in Etsy selling for $400 to $500. I guess they are knockoffs, even though they look nice. What do you think?
