P0480 Engine Cooling Fan Failure

I have a 2014 Dart 2.4L SXT

I live in Phoenix AZ so of course I would have fan issues when daily average is 110F 🥵

For a while before it got real hot my A/C would blow hot then cold then hot then cold. No engine light or error codes. When I would check, the fan would be running as usual. I initially thought it was needing to be recharged or something.

Of course when it started getting real hot out, when I would be driving with the A/C on, the fan was intermittently not running, the engine light would come on and a p0480 error code would be present. This was intermittent up until a few days ago.

I was driving with the A/C off, it was probably 111F outside. My engine light came on and the dash started flashing and chiming that engine was overheating. It was probably over 3/4 of the way. I pulled over immediately and shut it off so it could cool down.

While it was cooling down, and I was sweating my balls off under the desert sun and under the hood of the car with the engine roasting me from both sides, I used the good ole mx+ pro or whatever wireless dongle and alfaobd to cycle the fan. I just heard the relay rapidly clicking, the fan wasn't kicking on.

I swapped the relay with a known good one and same thing. So the relay was good. I checked the 5amp fuse, it was good. I checked the 60a midi fuse on the positive terminal, it was good.

I checked the adapter that goes into the fan module and it appears to be good. Has continuity and is receiving 12v. I then tried checking the other side of the module and I believe the positive/power had continuity but the ground didn't. Although I am unsure if the fan has to be engaged for the ground to have continuity? Like with it not engaged the circle is closed right? So the circuit wouldnt be complete as it is off?

I am assuming it is the module since I connected the power/ground directly to the fan motor and it roared into action so the fan/motor itself seems to be good still.

Am I screwed if I cant find a working module at the junkyard with having to buy a whole dang fan assembly with module? I cant seem to find just the module by itself. Any suggestions on any tests I can do or known issues/fixes without replacing it?

I don't have the money to buy a new assembly right now. I just replaced the whole assembly like maybe a year or two ago.

What do ya'll think about bypassing the module altogether? I could run it directly to the battery with a switch (and inline fuse) straight into the cabin so I could turn it on/off with a switch (could leave it on when running the A/C and/or when temps hit 230F). Do you think this would be best as a temp fix? Or would I be able to bypass the module power/ground and bridge these together on both sides of the module leaving just the other wires going into the module? Would this cause it to always be on? My theory is it would fubction normally as it would only receive power when it is supposed to be on (when AC running or it hits 230F), or am I completely wrong here?

Thanks for any insights!

Facing Eviction For The First Time...

Hello All,

I appreciate any time you take to read this and any shares/donations you might give.

I was laid off from my job on January 22nd. I was employed there for 15 years. I live in Phoenix AZ (it's going to ne 110°F here today 🥵).

I have been constantly looking for work non-stop, but have so far not had any luck. I got on unemployment right away. Although I am greatful, it is only $320/wk, and almost over. This isn't even enough to cover rent for my 1bdrm apartment which runs ~$1,400/mo. Sadly, I had just signed a new 12mo lease 2 weeks prior to being laid off.

I had some money saved up. That and working side gigs wherever I could, as well as selling everything I have of value that isn't a necessity, has managed to get me by until now. My savings dwindled down until I only had the 320/wk to survive.

My rent was due on the 1st, I was unable to pay it. I got a 5day notice on 6/5. I wasn't able to pay it by 6/10. I am now facing eviction if I don't come up with the rent by Thursday. I wasn't able to pay my car insurance. I am down to 1 meal a day (or popcorn or whatever I can get). I am trying to keep up with my phone/internet bill as it is needed to find work. Gas prices are high. 320/wk doesn't cover very much when factoring in all of that and hygiene necessities.

I have tried various resources/charities every day of the week. AZ has one of the highest eviction rates in the country, it has made getting help near impossible. Some services fill up instantly so you cant even get an appointment. I don't have any family or friends that are able to help. My mom passed away when I was 10 from ovarion cancer. My dad passed away a few years ago with colon cancer. I created a gofundme a week or two ago and shared it in many places but so far havent even received a single dollar. The stress and urgency to make rent is taking time away from me finding a job so I can get myself out of this situation. I have all but lost hope.

Becoming homeless will make things extremely more difficult, especially in the hottest months of the year. I know I am not entitled to any help, and honestly don't expect any as ai know everyone is struggling. I guess you can say I am hoping for a miracle at this point. If you could find it in the kindness of your heart to help me, I wpuld be forever greatful. I am really just needing help with whatever I can get, with any donations going straight to rent first and foremost. Anything beyond that will go to other expenses/bills. If by the grace of god donations exceed my expectations/needs, I will use any extra money to help others in need.

Thanks again for your time and support.

A bit confused with holds...

I'll try to make this short.. My account has been open about a year, it's also a business account..

When first opened, I sold a few physical goods. One was in person for near $200. The other was online and also for near $200. The first one allowed me to withdraw to the linked bank account. The second one didn't. I understood it was a new account and they do the infamous hold for 21 days or whatever. I had someone else wanting to purchase something for 1K. Not knowing what I was doing, the buyer wanted an invoice, so I created one, he ran into issues paying the invoice and put a merchant hold on the amount with his bank. My end it showed it never went through. I told him I wasnt going to send him 1k in product before seeing the payment. For some reason it wouldn't let me cancel the invoice. The other person that sent me money, that order was also giving problems. CS was completely useless. I ended up losing the 1k deal as he thought I was trying to scam him despite showing him convos with support and that the oymt wasnt showing on my end. CS said the other order got messed up because I cancelled the invoice and it was "suspicious". Then that person also backed out so I lost that sale also. I refunded that payment to him and didnt use paypal again until recently.

I sold something for 200$, mailed it, updated tracking, once it showed delivered and "confirmed" I was able to transfer to my bank.

During this time, I also sold something for 800.. That one however shows delivered but the transaction is being held. I realized I was still limited since I hadn't used it in along time. $200 is the limit apparently, and anything after that (which I believe resets each month), is automatically held. CS again was completely useless. She initially said it was because I have a new account as it was opened last June 😓.. Then she said I had to wait 7 days after carrier confirms it as delivered. I then asked about the policies.. Clicking the link says to get paid faster, to update tracking, and once it is confirmed funds are usually available after 24hrs. The order shows green across the board except the transaction. She then said it would be frozen max 21 days. I think what she means is since I hadnt been using it they do the 21 day freeze. But still to my knowledge, this doesnt apply the same when the order has been delivered. Everything it tells me to click on leads me to policies saying once the order is confirmed delivered then its 1 day. She said she was escalating it to her back office. She then asked a question then immediately asked if I was still there then immediately that she was disconnecting due to no response and ended it b4 I could even respond which tells me she didnt know jack.

So what are the rules here? How long should I suspect to wait ? Is there anything I could do to speed up the release?

Thanks in advance!

2018-P Quarter: Is this my first DDO?!

I have posted before and it ended up being machine doubling...

However, I think this is a legit 2018-P DDO Quarter...

When I first looked at it I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me 😅

I looked it up in the strike it rich book and saw it is a known error for 2018-P quarters

So is it my first DDO? Or some other kind of doubling?

I am giving this another shot, please forgive me in advance if this is PMD or something.

I have a 2022-D Anna May Wong quarter. If these are legit errors, I think there might be more than one.

I spent a few hours reading through cuds on coins, but couldn't find anything for this same quarter. I am also a bit confused with all the various errors from retained cuds, rim to rim die cracks, retained die cracks etc. etc.

If I am not mistaken, and assuming these are legit, would the line going up vertically that doesnt touch the rim be considered an interior die crack?

Also, the closest I could find for the blob around quarter dollar and e pluribus is an interior cud? It appears to go from rim to rim and the drtails are a bit offset.. But there is a lot going on.. I don't believe it's a cud because the ones I saw were featureless blobs meaning they don't retain any of the details..

I apologize for the multiple images.. but the area was too large for me to get it in one shot with my microscope 😥.

Thanks in advance!

I have reviewed the resource for machine doubling vs. doubled dies and feel like you can see the serifs separated but not sure as I am new to collecting and would like to know what you experts think.
