Synthwave-y with Digitone and Polyend Tracker
Synthwave-esque jam with the OG Digitone + Polyend Tracker
Synthwave-esque jam with the OG Digitone + Polyend Tracker
Upbeat synthwave-y track inspired by the Wave Race 64 OST.
I’m a big fan of the simplicity that comes from using just the Digitone, it’s kinda the reason I don’t upgrade to the DN2. Although I would love more tracks to work with… This patch is an emulation of the classic DX7 preset “E. Piano 1”, many thanks to TheGuacamoleXplosion!
This is the first time I’ve used Overbridge to record everything. The drums are samples from the Tracker and they are routed into the DN’s audio in. This allowed me to take advantage of the DN’s internal effects, and record everything in time via Overbridge.
Hope you enjoy!
This is a longer ambient piece composed on the Polyend Tracker. I was experimenting longer chords utilizing voice leading for smooth transitions. The Tracker is great for this because you can copy/paste chords from pattern to pattern, and make slight adjustments between the various voices/tracks.
I’m also experimenting with “multi-timbral” chords. In this case, the Nymphes and the Digitone are playing different notes in the chords, similar to a choir. I actually don’t know of another device you could easily do this with while having a full view of all the notes and their arrangement. This view is the reason the Tracker is my primary composition tool.
Gear-wise, this is a pretty simple jam with 2 just analog synths. I was originally going to use the Minilogue's internal sequencer to keep it simple, but I'm so spoiled with being able to see notes + having performance features, that I broke out the Tracker anyway.
I really like being able to modify the sequence in real-time using the performance mode. It makes it easy to change up the jam and create little interludes.
The real star here is the Nymphes, but I loved using the Tracker as a bandmate to create and perform a neat sequence as an accompaniment
Been listening to the N64 Goldeneye OST lately and came up with something that had a similar vibe, just a bit calmer. I love the sound of the icy FM lead against a backdrop of warm analog pads.
I actually started this track using the Digitone sequencer, but the lack of performance effects led me back to the Tracker. For this track, I came up with several 128-step patterns based on chords, and strung together a nice chord progression in song mode. Enjoy!
This is a liquid drum & bass track made with 3 pieces of hardware: Polyend Tracker, OG Digitone, and Zoia pedal.
The Tracker pairs really well with the Digitone's 4 MIDI tracks. Makes for a small, simple setup with a lot of possibilities. The Tracker continues to be my main composition device. I've tried the Elektron sequencer that everyone raves about, but idk...not for me atm.
One unique thing about this arrangement is that I recorded the melodies live, which introduced a lot of microtiming. It made for some sweet rhythms. Enjoy!
Despite the Tracker workflow being rather...clinical(?), I still get happy accidents all the time.
I was messing around with some ambient textures and randomly tossed in a Euclidean sequence using the Tracker's Fill function. I was so pleased with the result that it quickly became a full track.
The Euclidean sequences make an interesting rhythm with the sequence taking a percussive role accompanying the drum samples. This was also my first time messing with the tracker's Performance mode, which unfortunately doesn't work with external gear, but I'm still happy to get some variety in the drums.
Let me know what you think!
I’ve searched high and low for the right dawless brain. I wanted something to compose on while sitting on the couch, and I wanted to see all notes at the same time. Lo and behold, the Polyend Tracker ended my search. There are oddities for sure, but I’m super happy with the setup:
All the knobs make the Qi Etherealizer a fantastic dawless performance pedal. It’s really straightforward to make a build with the filter, and add effects (particularly granular) to keep the build going.
Here are some dawless ambient sketches of the Qi paired with some analog polysynths (Minilogue XD and Nymphes)

I've never been into EDM, like at all. But I was watching an Ableton video on YT and the guy wrote a short liquid dnb track. HUGE throwback to n64/ps1 days, and I really wanted to give the genre a shot. Let me know what you think!
