I've been feeding my cat Purina Pro Plan LiveClear, as was recommended by my vet, for years. Yesterday I went to Petco and got a small bag. When I got home, as soon as I opened it, bugs flew out of the bag at me. I looked inside and to my horror it was filled with spiderwebs and bugs. I brought it back to the store where they proceeded to cut open three more bags of similarly infested food. An employee said that in her four years of working there, this has happened with Purina Pro Plan at least twice a year. She said it's the design of the bag that allows bugs to get in but they refuse to change it. I told my friends, and one of them said that this has also happened to her as recently as last year with the same brand of food. I wanted to make others aware of this if they weren't already.
EDIT: Thank you to everyone for your input. Based on all your responses and further research, it's definitely Purina's issue. I'm in contact with them right now.

I'm looking for opinions/experiences/recommendations for pet insurance for my cat (I'm based in NJ). She is estimated about 7 years old. Her health has been pretty good so far, despite some asthma now and then and a small heart murmur. Her recent bloodwork came back with some elevated levels. I've scheduled her an abdominal ultrasound for this week. I'm thinking about getting pet insurance for her before any condition is diagnosed. I could probably meet the deductible quickly depending on how much this exam will be ($800-$1000+). I'm doing research on different plans but there is so much contrasting info.
