My girlfriend asked me to stop cooking on weeknights and I think she has a point

I like cooking and she doesn't. So I usually make dinner, which sounds great until you see me turning a Tuesday night meal into a 90 minute project. Last night I decided to make crispy rice bowls. Somehow that became homemade sauce, quick pickled cucumbers, salmon in the oven, rice stuck to a pan and me saying almost done four separate times. At one point I was standing there waiting for the salmon, fully convinced dinner was basically finished. It was not.

We ate at 9:15. Halfway through dinner she said, very carefully, can we have food sometimes instead of a cooking project? My first reaction was to be annoyed because I am literally making dinner for us. Then I looked at the kitchen. Every pan we own was dirty and she had eaten crackers at 7 because she was hungry. She said she likes my food, she just does not want to wait until bedtime for it on a Wednesday. which is fair.

Anyone else have to learn that enjoying cooking and being useful at dinner are not always the same thing?

How often should you wash your large wooden cutting board?

I own a large wooden cutting board that is too big to easily wash in the sink, not impossible, just a pain. I always wash it with soap and water when it touches raw meat or I have some very wet vegetables like a juicy onion.

How often do you guys wash or should I wash my cutting board with soap and water when cutting normal vegetables? Should they be washing it after every use or a couple times a week?

New Haagen Dazs flavor

This flavor is an absolute DELIGHT. True peanut butter base with a strong nutty flavor, peanut buttery swirl (edit: I think it’s actually a caramel swirl but it doesn’t not overpower the nutty PB flavor), and fantastic little sugary peanut pieces. Run don’t walk to try this flavor, hopefully it’ll be permanent!

How would you pronounce “Cyra” without hearing it?

We’re stuck between two names, Zara and Cyra. *please do include which you prefer!
Existing sibling is named Layla. Middle name will be Dianne, last name is hyphenated starting with an A-K, and we’re in the US for background/context.

I’m open to opinions/votes between these two names but also really want to know most peoples’ instinct on how to read Cyra aloud. It’s meant to be sigh-ruh, the female version of Cyrus. We’re both leaning toward that name but my worry that people will mess up her name her whole life makes me want to do Zara instead as it’s also really pretty and harder to mess up (though not impossible, I know how people are lol).

Thanks for any input! Also open to any other names that might match this style.

Edit: if you do prefer Zara or give another suggestion, please also mention how you’d assume to pronounce Cyra if possible!

Edit 2: Wow this really took off, we are reading all the comments and input! It’s looking like it’s too ambiguous as the comments are split between Sigh-ruh, See-ruh, less so Ky-ruh, and even a few saying Kee-ruh. Also a good point was made about people knowing how to spell it correctly upon hearing it. We are starting to lean toward Zara as a result, but will keep reading all the comments and discussing. Thank you!

Mama & me lunch

Roast beef sandwiches with some side veggies and chips. Nice refreshing lunch after a hot day outside walking and playing. Followed by a bowl of cantaloupe, not pictured. Yum!

Floss

Looking for PFAS-free floss suggestions that actually feel like they’re getting stuff out from your teeth. Doesn’t have to be perfect but I’m curious what others use. Thanks!
