Waiting for it to get worse to get prescribed Allopurinol?
I had my first presumtive flare last December at 48, recevied the prednisone which made the extreme pain and swelling in toe go away, but I never got back to feeling normal. Waited two months before getting uric acid test which came back in the 5mg zone, not high enough to get Allopurinol. Here we are six months later and I have pain and tingling in my toes and ankles, now in my elbows, everyday, doctor is convinced that even if I try Allo, it won't do anything for the pain. Is he right? Anyone get prescibed Allo with relatively normal UA levels? All my blood level tests for gout or RA come back as normal. I don't know what to do.
