While it is critical of the Soviet propaganda machinery and oppression by the leaders, it exposes how common people are the ones who suffer the most and this can be said about any regime of any country on the planet. People in power, people with wealth are the least affected by tragedy. 4 weeks. 30 hours. 74 chapters. 1 MASTERPIECE. What an experience it was. Started it on the evening of March 31, ended it on the evening of April 27. This is the most time I've devoted to a single media and it was worth every bit of it! Kind of stuff which creeps into your nerves, chills down your spine, makes you think of your own existence and the state of humanity. Every character is so well-written that I can't even decide which one was the best. The intricacies and nuances were so good.
PS: I'm not an avid anime watcher. Hell, I'm not even a show watcher. Have not seen any of the big American TV shows which are revered by everyone. Only proper anime I watched before this was Demon Slayer. Will now get into the other stuff too. I'm intrigued. Have Berserk, Fullmetal Alchiemist, AoT, Evangelion on my watchlist next. Will start in some time.
