Appraisal for total loss: rare car

I am located in Ontario. Drove a 2016 Porsche Cayman GTS (second highest trim), exceptionally factory optioned. Bought new in 2016; had been in an accident previously and repaired officially.

Was involved in another accident, I am 0% at fault. Likely it will be pushed to be totalled, although I am aiming for repair as I love the car and there’s nothing out there like it.

I think they will push for total loss and lowball me. These cars go for between about $60K (low trim) and $80K (my trim, or one rung lower). I have many more factory options (about $15-20K more) than every car being sold out there (there’s about 10 for sale nationally within a 2014-2016 time span). Only two negatives on my car: high mileage (for a sports car), and the prior accident (I’m not sure it matters or not).

Is hiring an appraiser worth it? And are there recommendations? I am talking a significant swing in what I think it’s worth (more than $80K) and what I think they will try to offer ($60K).

Insightful and working in two computers

I work on different computers at home, depending on my mood.

The only, slight issue I found is that the countdown clock on the weekly hours doesn’t sync between the 2 instances. Hours are recorded correctly on the Insightful website and with Mercor, but the app doesn’t sync across the computers. So I have a hard time figuring out how close I am to my hours cap (I can check Mercor’s website, but there’s a delay on the update there).

Is this normal / is there a solution?

Insightful switchover

Every time I log into the work.mercor.com website, it tells me that my Insightful will switch over from my personal email address to my Mercor.expert one (and to click to acknowledge, which I do). For the last 24hrs now. Yet, in the app itself, it hasn’t.

Anyway have any insight as to what’s happening?

Where to buy RB2132 frame only?

I have multiple pairs of RB2132 (all genuine) sunglasses. My very first one from 15-20yrs ago are still kicking. The lenses are great, but the frame is all scratched up. I use them as my backyard / pool sunglasses, but would like to make a bit nicer.

I can’t find a place where to buy frame only for a reasonable price. I’m have with non-authentic too, as long as the sizing is the same and of course the lenses fit. Is there such a place (authentic or no -authentic)? I’m in Canada.

Help with optimal Hunter setup

I am located near Toronto, Canada. Had my sodded lawn installed last September (it is well rooted now, very green, and I mow on the highest setting at about 3.5”), together with a Hunter HPC 10 controller and sprinkler system. I have a rain sensor and wifi on the controller, but no flow meter (which I was told is like $700+). I have been told my water pressure is very good (new home, new area).

I’m looking to optimize my watering. My lawn care (fertilizer only) company says grass needs 4hrs of water once per week. I have 4 grass zones, and was doing about 2-3hrs per week for each zone - but my water bill is quite high. As a result, I want to get more scientific, if I can / it’s worth it.

Right now, what I’ve done is turn off the rain sensor. Each zone waters at night, between Monday and Thursday (one night per zone). It waters, unless there has been more than 1” of rain in the last 6 days.

I believe what I ideally want is for each zone to water X amount of time, subtracting Y minutes for every 0.1” of rain in the last 6-7 days.

Is it right that I want that? Can I somehow do it? I have access to Home Assistant for my controller too, if that helps.

Ps. I know I need to measure my actual sprinkler output (per zone), like depth of watering per hour, and I’ll be working on that in the next few weeks.

What’s everyone spending on watering grass?

My lawn care company has said I should be watering for 4hrs once per week. I do have sprinklers with several zones, so I aim for 2-3hrs per zone, once per week (one zone per night). I probably have 3-4K sq ft of grass. With my rough math, this seems to be coming out at like $250-300 per month in extra water bill (water plus sewer costs).

Is this the cost of green grass? Is this typical for a home that wants to keep their grass green?

I am an experienced MBB consultant (right before equity partner). I have never wanted to make it to equity partner, and now it’s clear that I will not. So I need to make a move - although I have time.

For some time, I thought I’d go do something boring that still maybe earns me enough (probably less than MBB for the next 5yr): work in some department at a big bank or something. Maybe some large company as a VP of something or other.

But I guess I’m only in my late 30s - not that old yet. I do have a large mortgage, wife, and future kids in the works. So I need some safety, but I also think I can continue to “push”. Resigning myself to being one of 100K employees at a bank, maybe isn’t it just yet?

An AI startup (with a product) reached out to me. I’ve done a few meetings. It seems real.

How do I think this opportunity through? And what should I be targeting from a base and full package perspective? I am looking for anecdotal advice of course, any and all feedback welcome.
