Habitually situational: What character should I learn that has good utility on any map?

For context, I’m maining Anran, Symmetra, Widowmaker currently. Domina for tank, Juno, Illari or Wuyang for support.

I feel like a lot of my favorites right now that I have the most experience in really are most useful for very specific situations or maps but lack a certain Swiss Army knife style versatility.

I’m still learning a lot about the game and developing my playstyle, but I want to expand my roster a bit more so I feel confident in having them in my back pocket if things turn away from our favor. I know that 5v5 is preferred by most, but I am far more into the chaos of 6v6 when I play, so any role is welcome, but DPS is probably preferred.

If anyone could point me in a direction or even give some options with pros and cons, that would be super helpful!

I reached a flow state with Vendetta and now I must grind

I got Ven in mystery heroes last night and truly thrived for 70 seconds. It was a thrill ride that was unmatched. Swing sword? Locked in.

Anyway, now I simply must try to actually add her to my regular rotation, which means I need to adjust her settings for optimizing my play experience here.

Question:

What reticle settings do you find work best with our girl? Are there any other settings or toggles I should be aware of or turn on/off? What perks do you find are most useful for enhancing survival in a dive? What stadium build has made you into a god?

Thank you, all. Please accept my spray as a humble offering.

Is it okay to play comp if you’re comfortably in bronze?

I am sitting comfortably in Bronze and feel as though I’m adequately placed in the roles I’ve finished my placements with. I know Overwatch is generally toxicity central, but I just don’t know if there is anywhere in this game where there’s an understanding that people are doing their personal bests.

I did one placement match as tank since that’s the only role I haven’t finished my placements for, and while I was on-par in terms of eliminations as the rest of my team, my deaths were the highest by 2 and I was told to get off this game and not come back. I was mass reported by my team and I apologized so profusely and was told to “get banned” for throwing. I know I belong in bronze, and I was playing with bronze 2-3 players, but I didn’t realize I could potentially lose my account just because we lost a match, regardless of it being so close.

I only went comp because quick play is riddled with insane matchmaking and the same attitudes, I thought doing ranked would help me at least be in matches where it would be more evenly matched and that everyone was on the same page of “we’re all gonna try our hardest out there”.

I have been off and on this game since 2016 and I have so much history here and cosmetics too, and now I fear if I play with others in any PVP mode, that I could risk losing it all just because I’m not as good as others. Even arcade is a cesspool.

I know turning off the chats is the best idea, but I don’t know where I can go without worrying I’ll be reported if I don’t explain myself. I’m slowly improving as much as I can, but I’m going to get nowhere if I am only playing with and against bots.

TLDR: what mode is the best place to learn the game and improve skills? I will never be pro but I also don’t want to get banned for my best.
