Gear upgrades

Currently running 1x 11 GrX with a 40t front and 11-46 cassette on a Tripster AT that was initially built up as a gravel rig.

I'm finding that with 60mm carbon rim brakes on the aero bike I'm using it more often for winter roads and long distance audaxes with an aim to try ultras. This means the range isn't really enough to spin up hills and also spins out on long downhills.

There are 3 or 4 upgrade paths each with pros/cons so opening it up to discussion with people doing what I want to build up to.

* 12 speed mechanical GRX

* 12 speed di2 (xt or grx) but two di2 shifters for all the buttons

* 12 speed mechanical GRX with Ratio/Madrone mech

* 12 speed axs - would keep GRX cranks

* Push the GRX 11 speed mech to it's max with an 11-50 cassette and a bigger front ring

GRX shifters means I keep brakes, SRAM means new brakes but I get blips for aero bars, Ratio is bombproof mechanical quality, and 11 speed mega cassette is cheapest but well out of spec so shifting isn't as good.

What trouser type and colours?

I'm fed up of looking like Stig of the dump so slowly refreshing my wardrobe and have got both the below shirts (images from the respective brands sites, clearly) which currently I pair with skinny jeans. I've not bought new jeans/trousers for an age and with the current heatwave skinny jeans are not a good choice so looking for something else.

Despite being in my 40s I work in tech so if unless I need wedding/interview smart the choice is jeans and a tee or jeans and a hoody, as such I have no idea what I'm looking for without looking I'm off for an interview.

M&S have selections where it shows what you'd pair it all with and chinos of sorts keep turning up, but they come in a million colours and skinny, slim, loose, regular and barrel. I'm not a big lad so can avoid barrel but god knows what's a good look currently.

Would prob need shoes as well as all I have are cowboy boots (legacy of working adjacented to the hairdressing trade in my 30s) or hiking trainers. But that's prob a whole different thread!

Guy line lengths for a tarp

Simple question: got a tarp to go with my bivvy and need to make some lines to rig it up. What length are folks commonly taking? Obviously it's going to vary depending on location but you can't be carrying tonnes of paracord each camp.

Summer smasual inspo

I'm fed up with looking like Stig of the dump, albeit is very hot caveman so am looking to revamp my wardrobe and get rid of stuff that is just old and over worn.

I've got a Insta account I follow who apart from being a *very* good looking chap he has the style I'd like to try and use for myself. This [is the account](https://www.instagram.com/btchyfrench/) but I have no idea what you call it to start looking for places to get outfits. The look I like are his more recent ones with the moustache. I don't think this is a mage thread question but if so, I'm sorry let me know and I'll repost!

As you might have gathered from the Stig of the dump comment I'm in my 40s so nothing that makes me look like I'm trying to be 20 again (can't say I'd want to be 20 again anyhows!) and I'm in the UK. I'm also not gonna be buying fast fashion, I like quality items that last for a while so no Primark!

Jetboil Flash cozy replacement

My Jetboil is well over a decade old and the neoprene cozy has been ended up a bit holey so you need to be a bit careful picking up if you don't want a surprise.

The stove itself is fine and heating stuff up like a champ, just needs a new cozy.

But there doesn't seem to be any available at any price in the UK (Aus seems to have a bunch but that's a bit of a long way for shipping times). Has anyone seen any for sale, UK or EU is fine just not a mega long wait.

Patching a hole in tubeless 45mm tyre

Had a mechanical walk of shame when my rear tubelss tyre got a hole the sealant couldn't deal with at the weekend.

I've now got two bacon strips in the hole and it's sort of sealed so will add some more sealant as I think quite a lot is spread about 10km from home!

If it doesn't seal I want to rescue the tyre as it's not 6 months old and prob has 1500km max. Can you glue the bacon strips? Something that goes over them on the inside or outside? I've got tonnes of puncture repair kits from my road bike do the same patches work for a tyre or are there specific kits?

Any better option over a refurbished Pixel 8

My Moto g32 is reaching the end of its life with a short battery life and micro pauses making the chance that aeroplane mode actually involves flying out the window a much higher likelihood!

Historically I've purchased a new model around the £150 to £200 price point but since I only really care about the camera (got a Garmin watch and head unit for sports tracking and a kobo for books) a Pixel 8s are just about in budget from various refurbishment shops (not linking any in case falls foul of rules).

I'm not sure if there're any unlocked models I'm missing that have good camera, not lots of extraneous apps and aren't bloody massive, and from reliable stores in the UK? If so feel free to point me in the right direction! Big thanks!

Years ago I purchased this painting for a tattoo studio in Plymouth Devon.

There was a lot more available but I only got this one. I found the artist once back in the My Space days but can't find them anywhere now. I *think* their first name is Phil but not sure.

If anyone knows of them I'd be really interested to learn more.

I've been using a surfing wetsuit I got for my 20th bday for a long time now (pretty pleased in 20+ years it still just fits) so I think it's done me well. I pretty much only need one for snorkeling and occasional paddle board/body board hire so guess a surf cut isn't really ideal.

For a bit of general use I've been looking at swimming suits such as the linked alpkit one. I'm not sure if swimming is what is best or so other style? Don't fish so all the camo stuff that searches brought up isn't needed. I'll be in the water for UK summers.
