It was a beautiful first day of summer to do some yard work. I met 3 frogs, a jewel spider, and found a cool limestone rock.

I also met 1,500,417 mosquitos in my cherry tree.

Has anyone else noticed an uptick in backyard frogs? Our storm water pond is nearly devoid of them, but I hear so many more in my yard, shrubs, and even rock pathway.

I've never seen this guy around. What is this caterpillar and if you know, what does it taste like?

About 10cm long, 1cm wide. Green and looked squishy. Friendly. Didn't answer to any names I could think of and did not have a hookah.

60 month maintenance done at year 12 ✅️

In all fairness, I've only owned the trailer for 7 of those 12 years. Today I replaced the CO/Propane detector after it gave us a false warning.

2 wires - snip snip - wire nuts plus tape. 5 minutes.

When was the last time you checked yours? 😉

Life finds a way

I shop vac'd my garage floor drain and all the sand/gravel off the floor and apparently, 1 bean seed. Now the great plant-parent debate: How can I live with myself if I throw this little sprout out?

What does switching to a Eureka Mignon Zero from a 10 year old Breville Dose Control (non-pro) get me?

I upgrade from a Breville Cafe Roma to a Quick Mill Pop Up and am now debating my grinder. The Breville Dose Control has served me well, so I don't know if upgrading to a Mignon Zero will get me much more. What would be the real advantages here?

How are your mosquitos doing right now?

Specifically in town, how ruthless are the Jasper mosquitos lately?

I'll be coming out from Edmonton, where there are 1,000 mosquitos per resident in the capital region.

I usually visit Jasper near-monthly, but it's been an odd year so I have not been out yet.

Best milkshakes in town that are open tonight?

My kid saw a sign at Triple O's a week ago and wants to try a milkshake for the first time. While I have never had one from Triple O's, I feel like there might be better ones in town.

Where do you recommend I take a kid for a milkshake?

My sump pump has ran more times today than it ran in all of May.

Each bar is one instance of it running, which is about 0.0045kwh of power, sometimes 0.005.

Mud guard for kids 24" Giant Talon - any recommendations?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a mud guard for a kids 24" Giant Talon disc? Reddit in general says Mucky Nutz, but I am unsure of the sizing, shipping, and would like to buy from a local shop.

We don't do MTB, just cycling around paved trails, so really only need the mud guard for keeping my kid clean(er). My bikes have full on metal fenders, so I'm lost on the concept of a kids mud guard.

Thank you to all the knowledge contributors here!

My tires were made in 2020 and still had 60% tread left on them. Good to go, right?

However, after a close inspection of the sidewall of one tire, on one side, in 1/4 of the circumference, I found this cracking happening. I figure this is the tire that faced the sun most often and this 1/4 was what sat down the most. I use tire covers, but because of the chocks, left this little bit exposed.

Moral of the story is inspect your tires and get rid of them when they age out. $300 CAD for a new set is better than blowing a tire down the road.

Today the delivery person in my area, an adult, went out of their way to trample all over the plants along my front door walkway. Like blatantly went off the sidewalk to trample and destroy, so now I have to dig them up and replace them.

Two years ago I had to send my own "cease and desist" letter to the Gazette, because the delivery people would cut across my lawn to the neighbours, which often led to them trampling my flowers, messing up my rock bed, take rocks or flowers, and just not give a shit. I had actually installed a paver walkway between the 2 houses to kind of show "walk here if you're too lazy to go to the sidewalk".

After the C&D letter, I didn't receive a paper for easily 1.5 years. But, here I am.

Am I the only one routinely having issues? (My neighbours around me have no issues, but none of them have fully landscaped yards, just grass).
