Back to shooting an M
A few years ago, I sold my M11 and most of my M lenses, after shooting M cameras almost exclusively since, oh, 2007 or so, and invested in an X2DII, which I've been mostly shooting. My eyes aren't what they used to be, so manual rangefinder focusing wasn't as quick and fun as in the past.
I've been enjoying shooting the Hassy, but recently I borrowed an M11D for a few hours, and dammit, I love shooting Ms too much. I mean, it just feels right. I can still focus accurately, it just takes a second or two longer. There are plenty of ways of getting great images, but the shooting experience matters, it affects how you capture, and nothing feels as good as an M. It disappears into my hands much more than any other camera, when I'm shooting, and I'm much more in tune with what I'm shooting instead of how I'm shooting it.
So I have an M11D now, and got a used Apo 50mm, and I'm set. I'm a lot happier. I love my other cameras, too, but there's nothing that replaces an M.
