post-hardcore, mathcore, and screamo at Trans-Pecos on Wed!

post-hardcore, mathcore, and screamo at Trans-Pecos on Wed!

C86’d DIY Vol. 21: Bloom Dream x Open Carry State Summer Tour this Wednesday in NYC (August 19th)!

After a little hiatus we are excited to be back at Trans-Pecos to bring a couple more of our fav Southern Emo/Screamo acts to NYC!

Bloom Dream blew us away with their 2024 release  of “It Didn’t Have to be this Way” riding the line between controlled chaos and beauty - sometimes the things that set an album or band apart are the soft bits interwoven between the chaos.  Their vein of emotional hardcore has hints of shoegaze and emoviolence, creating a transcendent experience.

Open Carry State are time travelers bridging some of the classic chaotic hardcore sounds (before there was even “screamo” bands) with mathy melodic guitars, pinhead start/stops, and chunky breakdowns that only last long enough for one or two spin kicks.  A band that we’ve been checking in on regularly since the release of their demo last year only to be melted to the ground by “Spitting in the Face of Progress.”

Our Southern friends will be sandwiched between an amazing line up of locals!

Opening up the show will be NYC x LI’s weonlyspokeinellipses with their first show in over a year.  Their two demos are incredibly impressive screamo and we can’t wait to see them perform live!

Wellness (members/x-mem of Heavenly Blue, Massa Nera, Forever, and Liturgy) will also be bringing their mathcore intensity to the stage - Seeing them at Endless Fest was truly a site to see!

Closing out the night will be our friends in Epoxy . Their self described “post-emo” covers a lot of ground hinting at influences from emo/screamo to Touch & Go Records, and even the angular, at times dancey, post-hardcore of the early 00’s that we don’t hear often enough these days.

It’s an amazing line up and so happy we can help out some of more of our Southern friends.  Come hang.

tomorrow (fri 8/7) in Brooklyn:

Tomorrow (Friday) we are so excited to host our first collaborative show with Collective Effort NYC and welcome SNAG & BLEACHED CROSS to Gold Sounds - both bands are on tour supporting new records!

SNAG recently signed Deathwish Inc and released “ All The Cages Holding Us Will One Day Turn To Dust” which embodies so much of what we love - melodic mathy guitars, emotionally & politically charged vocals/lyrics, and crushing chaos paired with the beautify of restraint...all the elements that go into making a truly beautiful post-hardcore or emo/screamo record (however you choose to define it).

Bleached Cross from Chicago (features members of Frail Body) brings us the cold, at times danceable, tones of post-punk.  A sound that is often on our stereos but sadly seldom at our shows.  Their new record “Wrath” came out last week and is a nod to our collective future and pasts sounding new and timeless at the same time.

LÁSTIMA will be coming up from Philly bringing their bigger than life blackened orchestral screamo to Bushwick.  We are excited to host them in NYC before they head out west for tour.

Two of our favorite locals will be joining us as well - AUXIENA SAINT with their emotional and shoegaze-y hardcore are always a treat to see and their performances have been scant this year. One of our favorite live bands - be sure to catch this one.

Last but not least is NJ’s CASCA - a C86’d favorite & likely our next label release - their intense blackened screamo will melt faces and have you moshing from the first song.

It’s a banger beginning to end - come hang   See ya in the pit.

Fulsails - "You Have To Stay" out on cassette via C86'd

we just released the first album by Fulsails from Las Vegas, NV on cassette.

FFO: Aspartame, Jejune, First Day Back

below is the write up we did for the release - think some of ya'll will enjoy. links below:

"We’ll never go back to these moments"

Somewhere between the cool nights of summer and the longing of winter, Fulsails debut “You Have to Stay” finds its place. Six tracks of self-reflective emo explorations that bring to mind some of the greats.

Minimal vocal passages paired with gentle meandering guitars, come to fruition in scream laden and distortion washed choruses. Holding everything together is a very tight and equally emotive rhythm section. Tight hi-hats, complex stick clicks, and melodic bass line are hallmarks of almost every song.

A release that already feels like something lost to time, yet so fresh in the current scene. Perfect for your late night journey home from a show.

This cassette is in an edition of 75 copies on hand stamped translucent teal cassettes.
- Copies are split 50/50 between Fulsails & C86'd.

any NYC egg punk?

I catch the bigger stuff when it comes through (Uranium Club, Snooper, Liquids, Prison Affair, etc) but was curious if there was any egg punk happening in NYC?

I know bands like Pyrex, Nancy, Loosey, Macula Dog...which all can touch the style...but was curious if there were any others?

emo/screamo adjacent this Wednesday in NYC

C86’d DIY Vol. 20: Sometimes the stars align - local and out of town friends are coming together for one of the heaviest C86’d shows yet!

Decimation, Verse Vs the Virus, 300, and Seven Crimson Suns reached out about doing a show together in NYC while this alone was enough for a real banger, spanning sounds from death metal to posi-metalcore, the icing on the cake is this show fell into place with two touring southern hardcore heavy hitters!

My Sword! My Sword! (members of fingerswoventogether) will bring their Florida mathcore to NYC. A mix of power and technical intensity, balanced with beautiful emotional melodic interludes, that will have you dancing just moments into their set .

Tennessee Grindcore, FRIDGE , will round out this bill with some speed & breakdowns to keep everyone smiling all night.

Vs Verse the Virus & Seven Crimson Suns need no introduction as some of the strongest metalcore coming out of Jersey in recent years!

NYC’s own Decemation (members of Shimmering) will bring a new flavor to our camp with intense death metal straight out of the early 90s. Alongside them, 300 is all fun times and heavy riffs with members of Grimlitter, Beautiful, Verse Vs. the Virus, 7CS, and more.

Come hang & dance all night.

Fortress cassette release (x-blouse) w/ Silk, Wince, & VLQ this Friday in Ridgewood (NYC)

C86’d DIY Vol. 19: Fortress’ cassette release with Silk, Wince & the Vince Lombardi Quintet !

FORTRESS (members of Blouse) released their debut EP “who will dress our soldiers?” late last year and we are honored to be bringing it to the cassette format! Somewhere between the Touch And Go noise rock of the early 90’s and the basement emo we all love, Fortress really brings a sound of their own. Noise vignettes, nonchalant vocals, melodic undercurrents, and an unsettling angular angst are just a few of the flavors Fortress conjures up in every track.

Who better to join them than their NYC besties SILK! Seeing this band evolve their sound over the years has been so incredible with every performance showcasing a new take on their sound. You know them, you love them, you always want to see them!

A band that came onto our radar a few years ago with their full length release, WINCE is truly like no other. Weird classical stylings mixed and mashed up with an almost shoegaze atmosphere, creates a style of noise rock that we’ve been dying to see live!

Kicking off the night, the “working class sass” of THE VINCE LOMBARDI QUINTET (members/xmems of Ultra Deluxe, Mineshaft, Auxiena Saint, more) will kick you in the teeth and make you laugh at the same time. Dance punk that got so messed up by the San Diego scene that we aren’t sure what happened!
