Update 3 with Trippy on a Mount with QnA

Important - Was supposed to post full video but whenever I do it gets behind the spoiler tag and breaks the reach. Thus posting just images. Full video in profile, other posts.

The device in the photos is named "Trippy", which I am working on as a minimalist looking bike navidation device. The idea of this post is to share how the Trippy can look like when mounted on bike in a real ride. This time its mounted on a mirror mount but not necessarily thats the only way. As this is still in development, I have to keep a safeguard in case mount fails, so there is that red string, pls ignore it.

Yes I know it has big bezel, I have got that feedback and I am actively working on improving that.

Some commonly asked ques -

How does this work -

You will have to download a mobile app, select the destination in it, and it will start the trippy directly with maps and routes.

Does it use Google maps -

Mix of that along with other mapping services.

App platform -

Both Android & iOS is supported.

Connecting the Trippy -

It is very straightforward and after first connect you will not have connect the trippy manually. Whenever you start the app and your BT is on, than the device will auto connect.

Will it have this thick bezels -

Nope, I am actively working on reducing it. Currently what you are seeing is prototype.

Does the Device & App consumes much battery -

Nope, both do not consume much battery on your phone, much more efficient than running Google maps on your phone.

Do you need Bluetooth & Internet -

Bluetooth - Yes you need it on throughout the journey. For Internet - You dont need it after you start the journey, as long as you follow the routes. For rerouting internet is needed.

Can you control Music -

Yes, you can, Play, pause, next song, and the name of song. However control will differ between platform to platform. This can be turned off as well.

Can you see incoming calls -

Yes, you will see when a call is coming with option to accept or decline the call. However this differ from platform to platform, This can be turned off as well.

Do you need Phone screen on for this -

No you dont, just start the ride and then lock the phone, keep it in bag or pocket anywhere near, and ride as you usually do.

Voice Navigation turns signal -

Yes, just like Google maps - like turn left in 100mtrs. You can combine it with your helmet speakers and app will send instructions to it as well.

Heat & Waterproofing -

Plan is for that only. It should be able to survive Indian Rains & Indian Summers.

Mounting Option -

Idea is to sell it with convertable kit, so it can be mounted using adapters on your existing bike mounts.

Pricing?

Product is still in development. Got a lot of comment to keep it 4-5k but honestly it cant be that, as the research, development, prototyping, procuring all materials, assembly etc all cost a lot of money, time & effort. Also if I plan to sell a device with my name on it, than I want to assure it is of high quality and can work well reliably for long time. Thus I can't compromise in quality and this costs money. Still do let me know the amount that you think is fair for this.

In case I missed any of your questions , then do comment below.

Built a round handlebar display that shows the full street map, made in Bangalore for Bangalore roads

Been building this for some time and wanted to share. It's a small round display that shows the full street map with your route, not just turn arrows. Inspiration is the Beeline Moto 2, but with real streets on screen.

  • Runs on its own battery and connects to my phone app over Bluetooth. No wires, no Android Auto or CarPlay, and the phone stays in your pocket (and safe from phone snatchers at signals).
  • 2.1" full-colour display, very readable
  • Turn indicators that glow on the side of the next turn
  • Dynamic zoom that tightens as a turn comes up Two-wheeler routes

The video is a simulated ride at 8x on my desk. Did the first real road ride last night but video footage was of low quality.

Would love honest thoughts and first impressions.

PS: Built right here in Bangalore. And yes, the route in the video goes to Vidyarthi Bhavan.

Hey, so I recently came to Bangalore, my office is in HSR Layout Sector 3, and I am currently living in a PG for single occupancy studio room for 30k with food.

I am looking to get preferably 1 BHK / 2 BHK in a gated society apartment, budget is around 40k-42k. Could be increased by 5-10k more if needed. I dont know the pricing in blr so any help is appreciated if you can even guide on just budget.

I will be living with my wife, and we are looking for something which is Family friendly and have good open spaces, gym and park. Priority is on society which is active and have good social life in it, and possibly modern.

I am particularly looking for Gated Society Apartment and not Standalone building, and as per what I understood HSR has mostly standalone, so I am open to looking for Haralur, Kudlu Gate or Singasandra etc.

Currently PG is in Kudlu and with my bike takes me around 10-12 min. So fine with anything in similar distamce point.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
