(I hope this is ok to post about here! I’ve written and rewritten it and taken parts from the Happy Tails, Happy Homes listing about him too so it might be repetitive. Ty for your patience. It’s not easy 😅🥲)

If you’re looking for a smart, loyal, goofy adventure buddy and you understand the needs of a working-breed dog, I present to you this gold-star boy: Kevin.

Kevin is my dog. He’s flippin’ fantastic in just about every way. I have busted my buns (as have the lovely people at Tails a Waggin) for almost a year and a half training him, socializing him, desensitizing him to just about everything under the sun. In that time, I’ve also been training my kids to respect his boundaries. I assure you, he learns faster than they do 😅.

But a few things over time, and their steady progression toward more concerning, has left us with the difficult decision to find him a home that’s more suitable for him: adult owners who can meet the needs of a working breed of dog.

We took a risk when we adopted Kevin. He was projected to be “up to 40 lbs” and seemed like some kind of retriever / corgi mix. People always think he’s a retriever of some sort. We thought he’d be mediumish.

But he’s not! He’s a bunch of breeds I wouldn’t have opted for, given my lifestyle and having two small kids: namely, husky, shepherd, and cattle dog. We have a modest back yard, and he grew up into a 60-65 lb darling who we love dearly but who really is not fond of children. He tolerates mine, but injures the smallest one often with his play (just gave her some serious bruises and maybe a mild concussion yesterday by bowling her over like Charlie Brown at like 30 mph); when other kids come over to visit or if I take him on walks and he’s approached by other kids, it’s a toss up as to whether he’s visibly aggravated by them. (Whale eye, raising his lip, nervous whining, yawning, pacing.)

I’ve been pretty nervous a few times at his body language around kids. He’s snapped (without biting) at my youngest a few times and just made it clear: “I do not feel good about having you near me.” So we are making the painful and difficult choice to pair him up with a more appropriate home before anything serious happens — where he can enjoy the company of his family, and hopefully have a bigger yard than ours is 😅

He’s a gorgeous, smart, loyal 1.5-year-old, Pit Bull / Cattle Dog / Husky / Australian Shepherd mix. He’s looking for an adult-only home with someone who appreciates the quirks and intelligence of a working-breed dog. He:

- Is fully housebroken and crate-trained
- Knows (most of) his manners: rarely barks, doesn’t counter surf, has good recall and obedience skills, stays off furniture unless he’s invited. (Sometimes he does jump up in excitement still.)
- is smart, eager to learn, and loves having a job to do
- loves other dogs at daycare, dog parks, and Paws for a Beer (shout out to any of you who have met him already; he’s a popular guy)
- Enjoys hiking, exploring, and splashing around in rivers and lakes and kiddie pools
- Sleeps hard at home and enjoys a good nap
- is learning to be comfortable in a muzzle (working on it)

Kevin is a pretty cool mix of goofy and stoic. He isn’t super snuggly, but he will follow you from room to room to just hang out together. He is loyal, dependable, and a wonderful companion for the right person. He’s the type of dog who will happily hang out with company, join you on adventures, and make you laugh with his silly personality.

Kevin would do best with an experienced adult-only home that understands herding and working breeds. A few things his future family should know:

- Kevin has a moderate prey drive when he spots other non-dog critters, but usually responds well to “leave it!” That said, I’d still suggest that…
- A home without cats is best — he has not shown that he can safely live with them
- He would love a home with a little room to get a good run in. Rn we have to take him to the dog park or such to really get him space to haul a** like he wants to haha.

Kevin is very healthy, up to date on vet care, and takes Simparica Trio for routine heartworm, flea, and parasite prevention. He comes with extensive vet records and medical history. He is currently being fostered by the family who adopted him as a puppy, while we search for the perfect forever home where he won’t try to herd small children 😅

Once Kevin finds his amazing forever home where he can truly thrive, his current family would love to pet sit if you need a day away, take him off your hands for occasional adventures to places like Paws for a Beer, and continue cheering him on as he lives his best life by staying in touch if you’re cool with it. (Free dog sitter, seriously.)

His current owners will send him off with all of his supplies - dog beds, toys, food he is currently eating, etc.

I really love the mermaid show, and the night market in general — I think the night market is my favorite part of the game. I made a second mermaid panel to eventually turn them into a bag but I’m not sure I’m gonna do that anymore and I might just hang them on the wall.

I like the little fishes and the opaque skin colored beads from the first one, but like the scale of the second one a little more. What do you think?

I also wanna do another one but can’t decide what to do next! I’d love to hear your ideas!

Listen, he’s delightfully affectionate and fearless but I don’t need a divorce right now.

I shouldn’t have thought to myself the other day how it had been awhile since the last time a cat showed up on my doorstep. I shouldn’t have thought to myself how much I like black cats. BUT I THOUGHT TO MYSELF THESE THINGS AND HERE WE ARE.

gonna check for chips tomorrow after texting my new neighbors when it’s an appropriate hour to make sure he’s not theirs. I have a big dog who’s not used to cats (since mine died when the dog was a few months old), and a husband who’s already annoyed that I fed the cat after it showed up at our bedroom door making a fuss. So for now, the little guy is in my garage, as much as he’s trying to sass his way into my house.

I am always so thrilled by the reaction gif treasure trove that is this subreddit. Thought it’d be fun to see what yall chime in with as your faves.

It was the second thing I’ve ever made with these beads (as an adult lol)… I got them for crafting with my 5 and 9 year olds over the summer but I got a little carried away lol. Designed this in a spreadsheet and gave it a go while watching Fionna and Cake after bedtime :)

Heya! I made a rainbow cuff and immediately wanted to make a huge panel. I dove into designing (in a spreadsheet app) and then peyote-ing a version of the mermaid from Stardew Valley. I’m generally happy with her but have a few qualms.

The first can’t really be helped — it’s that I foolishly designed it on an offset grid with square spots instead of rectangular ones, so the whole design is kind of stretched vertically. Lesson learned.

The second is that some of my beads, as it turns out, were different sizes. It was not a difference I really noticed at first but it made for inconsistent row widths altogether. I guess my question is, where do you get lots of diff bead colors and options with the assurance that their sizes are consistent?

The third are the sides. They’re sort of ..crooked and maybe it’s just because of inconsistent tension or something but if anyone has any advise for straighter sides, lmk!!

5 mg lisinopril
150 mg bupropion XR
5 mg methylphenidate
100 mg progesterone
Also estradiol patches every 4 days.

I went to my doc in late 2023 with a complaint of fatigue, thinning hair, feeling weak, low mood. (Amongst other things that were remedied by bupropion and perimenopause HRT.)

We did an assortment of tests. My ferritin was low.

I have since used Thorne advanced iron complex (previously Ferrasorb) at 2x the recommended daily dosage, Renzo’s iron (worked for my kid whose ferritin stayed super low and ped thought was contributing to restless sleep) at 5x the recommended daily dosage for kids, novaferrum high potency liquid iron, and one other iron supplement I can’t recall the name of now.

My periods are often skipped — my average cycle duration is around 36 days but like, right now I haven’t had one since February. Periods have not been terribly heavy aside from one every year or so.

My hair is getting increasingly sparse. My eyebrows, even, are sparse. I struggle to exercise because I’m so tired.

All my other labs are fine, aside from mildly elevated cholesterol. We’ve done thyroid labs. I had an endoscopy (found EOE) and a colonoscopy (fine).

My pcp sent me back to gastroenterology to look into iron infusions. The gastroenterologist said the infusions won’t do anything for my ferritin and that since my other CBC labs are fine, I don’t need to worry about it.

A lot of people in the perimenopause subreddit talk about resolving low ferritin being the thing that improved their energy (and, sometimes, hair) tremendously.

Should I keep trying? I’ve had two docs shrug it off now and I’ve been at it for years now and the supplements aren’t cheap and kinda mess w my guts anyway. I don’t know what to do. But it seems like no one will prescribe an infusion and I don’t wanna be a squeaky wheel bc I’m incorrect about what I need.

My (cancerous old man of a) kitty passed away in September and I emptied his nice covered litter boxes I got from mud bay, and slid them into trash bags, and set them to the side in my garage.

I can’t find any places that want them. Which, I mean, I get.

But before I take them to the dump — they’re in perfectly great shape for being literally boxes for cats to toilet in — does anyone want them?

I’m allergic to cats and haven’t been around any since he passed away so I’d rather not pull them out now bc my reaction would be worse because of the exposure break (plus pollen, egads) but if you’d like pictures or for me to hose them down, I can. I didn’t bother cleaning them much because I know any amount of cleaning I do to them won’t prevent a cat nose from knowing they’ve been used before.
