How deep is enough to explore each state?

I know that visiting all 50 states is a challenge on its own. But should spending just one night in a state really count as having "visited" it?

I don't think so. That's why, in addition to tracking visited states, I wanted to track counties, national parks, state parks, and national monuments too.

As a European who has visited the US four times, I was still surprised by how little I've actually seen of each state. How many lifetimes would someone need to truly explore them all? 😄 Nine, like a cat?

Are you also tracking visited state parks and national monuments?

I know that many of you are tracking which national parks you have visited (I do too) but I was also curious about how many state parks and national monuments I have visited (and its surprisingly low, given the fact that many of those are special). I think that its a big rest bit its SO MUCH to see! How can an European even do this?

What’s the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home?

Are you tracking that data? For me (I am from Czechia) it was surprisingly LA 😃

I just wanted to track visited countries, US states and national parks… but I may have gone too far 😂

You know that feeling when you get obsessed with some random topic and suddenly keep getting more and more ideas about it?

Yeah, that’s me with travel statistics. Total freak.

Apparently tracking countries wasn’t enough for me, so I built a tool to track things like: seas and oceans I’ve swum in, visited Japanese islands, iconic places and cities, metro systems I’ve used, airports visited
airlines flown with

Still not enough.

What about tracking that I’ve visited all NATO countries? Or all English-speaking countries?

Still not enough.

So what about stamps for every country with little challenges like eating a hot dog in New York City?

I guess I Am a bit weird. But honestly… I just love traveling. And when I’m not traveling, I love checking these stats, planning itineraries and thinking about future trips.

Can you guess my country based on the countries I visit most? (Excluding neighbouring countries)

My travel life in a few images.. what is the biggest miss (context below)

I am now planning my biggest adventure. Go around planet for a few months (2-3) and I would really like to explore areas which are very different from those I already know.

What I see as my biggest miss yet:

a) Very little of Asia (basically only Thailand, Japan, Korea which are all amazing but a bit of a mainstream)

b) Australia and Oceania - its really remote but since I got that time it might be a good idea

c) South America - basically untouched yet. But I would probably firstly try some “soft” version. So maybe Argentina or Peru

If it sounds too generic, sorry. I am asking basically for your expeirence, what was really “WOW”

Usually I walk in big cities and have just tried a few metros. Am I doing a mistake?

I am a frequent traveller. But also a European so I am used to walk in the city. A lot of European cities are quite walkable and you can burn calories. But some metro systems are so interesting, old one in Budapest, deep stations in Kyiv, stamps and clean metros in Osaka.

But a lot of them are just general, dirty. So I am a missing on that expeirence? Or should I just try to pick some as I did before?

I have been mostly choosing airlines based on flight costs. Which one would you recommend to really get a good experience in economy for reasonble price?

For the first time I have some spare money. But I still somehow cant say that its time for business. I am fine to pay a bit more but I would like to try the best economy possible. No destination needed yet, just overall question for more expierenced people.

Which cities MUST be in the list of World 100? [Need your advice]

I am improving travel diary filling for my app for travelers and I decided to add to add list of TOP cities (especially bigger) to visit. But criteria are.. tricky for me.

And I’m quite biased as European. I would really welcome any advice from different travelers, is there any city you miss? Or any which you would say that does not absolutely belong there? I know that it won’t be objective 100% in any case, just want to polish the list a bit..

Which is the best US National park? Here is my list of visited parks (I am European, so the number is low)

If you would need to recommend only one to someone, which one would it be?

Even with only 14 visited its quite hard for me. I would say Zion or Yellowstone. I don’t really know why exactly but they seem the most epic to me. And Yellowstone is just special, the diversity.. I must go back!

Hello community! I am now thinking about planning a roadtrip to cover as many new countries for me as possible (check my visited countries map below).

Few conditions:
- I have a maximum one month
- Must be countries without wars
- I don’t want to just do very short stops. I know that I won’t be able to deeply explore countries but want to spend few days in each.

My thoughts were about something going from Baltics through Poland and Hungary to Kosovo, Albania and end in Romania. That will be 6 new countries, reasonable distance and all safe.

But maybe something in Asia or Africa could be nice too and I just don’t have good knowledge about that..

The Canary Islands are amazing—very affordable and logistically accessible (especially for Europe). But after visiting all the major ones, I have to say Lanzarote is my favorite, for several reasons:

  • The island is small, so in a week you can explore it in detail without worrying too much about logistics
  • It feels almost otherworldly
  • There aren’t that many tourists outside the main season
  • Because of that, you can find truly hidden gems with barely anyone around (you can on other islands too, but less so)
  • If you have more time, Fuerteventura is just a short trip away (even for a day or two), or La Graciosa

And what will you find on Lanzarote? Volcanoes, white/black/surf beaches, vineyards growing in volcanic ash, new volcanoes, old volcanoes, unique architecture, small and large towns, and incredible views. I recommend November pleasant weather, and it’s between the autumn and Christmas seasons.

Just take a look at the photos - they speak for themselves. And if you would be interested this is our full trip plan (you can just easily copy it on Rdytofly): https://rdytofly.com/public/9408936c-134e-4e6e-bf28-850a9e914d45
