Ethics, politics, and controversial public policies

Hi all! I'm from Brazil. I wouldn't call myself buddhist particularly as I don't do a lot of practicing but I've been trying lately to understand more about buddhism as a whole and trying to incorporate a lot of these concepts and thoughts into my daily life.

Recently I've been thinking a lot about how would a follower of the Dharma view certain public discussions and how that connects (or conflicts) with what you follow religiously.

For example: Even though I personally am against and would never abort a child, looking at the current state of society (especially in the global south) I understand how the decriminalization of abortion procedures could have a positive impact in society as a whole - and I think the same regarding the decriminalization of some drugs.

In my opinion, based on what I see and live in my country, I know that these two points can definitely be seen as public health issues, and not simply a moral question as it is generally treated. I have gotten some heat for being in favor of the decriminalization of abortion but being absolutely against death penalty, for example. Which in my mind makes perfect sense.

I have read a bit on this, and tried using AI to search for some further reading sources, which pointed me in a few different directions, like the concept of upāya, which I found very interesting.

What is your take on this? Do you (as a buddhist or not) think about and engage in these public policies discussions? Are these discussions relevant at all where you live? I'd love to know more from real people instead of an AI pointing me to different books.

Thank you all in advance and may you have a lovely day!

Notícia do Lance!:

https://www.lance.com.br/copa-do-mundo/var-chama-arbitro-para-mudar-cartao-de-forma-inedita-em-eua-x-paraguai.html

4 updates since Golmud and air vehicles are still unplayable in consoles

Is there anyone else here with these problems? XSS here and FPS is fine all around the map. but around the central areas all air vehicles suffer immensely from stuttering. ALL other maps are perfectly fine and I don't have any lag whatsoever.

DICE's silence is frustrating at this point, I love the map so much but cant bother to play it.

what are you guys carrying in S3?

As an engineer main, I'm loving the M16. the 20 mag gives a hell of a mobility boost and feels like a carbine
