I love the idea of only having one device (Pixel Phone with GOS) for everything. Desktop mode therefore looks very promising to me. But since i don't own a monitor to test it, i'd like to ask everyone who has tested it if you can recommend it!?

Are there things not working properly yet? What's the roadmap here?

I would like to use it with a portbale monitor in the future. What specs should i look out for?

I keep reading that the rubber (qwerty) keyboard isn’t working properly, and i’m wondering whether a plastic keyboard like the ones on BlackBerrys might be an option!?

I’ve been reading about lots of people placing orders from Germany (Austria and Switzerland) and I reckon we could easily get 100 orders for a QWERTZ keypad (that was the magic number we needed, wasn’t it?).

If that’s the case, how long would it take to produce and dispatch them? Because, with the best will in the world, you simply can’t type with the two keypads that come with it ;)

Fahre mit meinem ID.3 Pro (erste Generation) nach England und wollte mir schon diese Aufkleber für die Scheinwerfer besorgen. Im Handbuch habe ich jetzt gelesen dass man einen Reisemodus aktivieren kann wenn man dynamische Fernlichtregulierung und/oder dynamisches Kurvenlicht hat. Sollte man beides nicht haben wäre laut Handbuch keine Anpassung nötig.

Da ich beides nicht im Menü finden kann, ergo also wohl nicht habe, brauche ich auch keine Aufkleber, oder? Kann das jemand bestätigen!? :)

I was just wondering: on the website (international) AntennaPod is said to be part of the "Misc +" apps, but on the support website it's not mentioned (instead another podacst app). When i tried to install it via Obtainium it didn't work...

Does someone use it?

I was thinking about taking a picture of it (because of the IMEI) and then try to relocate it to under the keypad (of course not cover the pins)...

I use GrapheneOS on a Pixel Tablet (it's the only one supported by GOS). Since there is no Cellular function on Googles tablet i'd love to get rid of those two Apps that make no sense. Will this be possible in the near future?

If i don't scan the QR Codes i don't see apps in the app library, right? The App Library is not a fork of F-Droid or something like that?

So if i want to install apps like CoMaps i need F-Droid or Obtainium and have to keep it together with the App Library (because there the stock apps get updates)!?

I want as little apps as possible but think that CoMaps is better than OrganicMaps, and Molly is better than Signal and Fennec is better than Firefox and so on... :)

Can Sidephone open PDFs or do i need an app for that?

First of all: I only ordered the Sidephone because it is degoogled!

But did anyone use RethinkDNS, PCAPdroid or something similar to check if the OS and the stock apps really don't connect to Google (or other bad companys)?

I read/hear a lot about security concerns because the Sidephone OS is only AOSP 12... But what are real threats i should worry? :)

I just installed CrossPoint via sd-card. Is that always the latest version, or do I need to update it straight away? Can i update via sd-card as well?

I don't get how to set a bookmark. On the website it says "hold confirm", is that the second button bottom left? That gets me into a menu... I'm confused 😄

So far, I haven’t been able to find a clear answer to this: can I switch off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, and if not, how do I know that they’re really only switched on when I select the menu option?

Is there any alternative software that allows you to switch it on and off?

I like to be in control of when and where my devices connect 😄 And it’s also better for the battery if not everything is running all the time...

u/chrisristovski Can you tell me the SAR oft the Sidephone? Has it even been tested? I’d be very interested to know (and I don’t want to start a debate about its purpose here) 😉
