Hello everyone! As a long time dr who fan I've finally decided to watch Torchwood. I've only finished ep. 4 (Cyberwoman), and sure it's not the strongest episode (and the costume choice is.... interesting...)...... but that scene at the end with Ianto and the pizza-girl-turned-Lisa... I'm a little emotionally destroyed rn.

Can someone pls offer any form of emotional consolation? Anything to help recover from that scene? Thank you :,-)

When I press "Get SMS", it shows "Unusual network or device environment. Try using a stable network environment". I've tried the regular tips (clear cache and data, change device, change network/wifi, delete and reinstall...) and nothing's worked up until now.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this (pls lmk if not!)... I'm a composer and have recently written an electronic/ambient/experimental piece about Frutiger Aero. More precisely, about the duality of our modern relationship with the aesthetic - part genuine nostalgia, part alienation/sarcasm. The music gets gradually distorted over the course of the piece, from gentle ambient piano, nature sounds & a bed of modified Nintendo music samples, to something more blurry, distorted and fragmented like a distant recollection. In that sense, sort of inspired by Everywhere at the End of Time, Basinski's Disintegration Loops, etc.

The piece started started as a collaboration with a friend of mine to create a work specifically for audio and video together, but he can't do it anymore... so I'm trying to find someone who'd be interested in doing a video! Whether something more involved, or simply a sort of "background" video of, say, Frutiger Aero images slowly getting distorted along with the music?

Does anyone here have suggestions as to where to look/ask for that kind of thing? Even just a subreddit name would be very helpful! 

Or maybe would someone here be interested in the project? 😆 If so I'm happy to send a link to the piece and answer any questions - just DM me!

Whether something more involved, or simply a sort of "background" video of, say, Frutiger Aero images slowly getting distorted along with the music?

Hello! Slightly odd question, but does anyone know how/where to find someone online to collaborate with on a video for a piece of mine?

I recently an electronic piece about Frutiger Aero and the duality of our modern relationship to it (part genuine nostalgia, part alienation/sarcasm) - essentially the "frutiger-ness" of it becomes gently distorted throughout the piece. It started as a collaboration to create a work specifically for audio and video together, but the video artist I was working with can't do it anymore... so I'm trying to find someone who'd be interested in doing the video! Not simply a "background video", but something more involved.

So I was wondering if anyone had experience in doing something similar, or simply had any suggestions as to where to look/ask? Even just a subreddit name would be very helpful, as I'm a bit lost to be honest! Thank you :))

Hello! Due to a variety of reasons I've had to cancel my broadband subscription in the middle of the contract, by blocking Sky payments on my banking app eventually causing the subscription to be cancelled. Because the cancellation would happen in the middle of the contract, I should technically be paying Early Termination charges... but if I have all sky payments blocked, will that Early Termination charge still apply? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Will they realistically pass on the unpaid amount to a debt collection agency? Thanks :))

Hello! I got a conditional offer for a Masters course (condition is getting a 2.1 for my undergrad), but for financial reasons I won't be able to start the course this year. I'm planning on reinstating my application and working to save up some money in the coming year.

The problem is, my previous uni hasn't yet sent me the official document proving I obtained my degree along with the mark (above a 2.1). Should I wait until I receive it, upload the document and then reinstate my application, or should I just reinstate it now (even if without the proof of degree and mark)?

I know I can reinstate it without needing to provide said document, but I just don't want them to think I'm reinstating my application because I failed to get the degree or something!! But at the same time I don't want it to drag for too long and end up reinstating my application at the last minute...

I have a piece I composed in stereo using Ableton that's being put in a concert, with the option of adapting it for a more immersive 4.1 spatialised setup (the venue use the LiSA system). As a beginner in this field, I'm really not sure how accessible/difficult it would be to adapt what I have for that kind of 4.1 setup.

From what I understand, I could set up 4 channels, one for each speaker (FR, FL, RR, RL) and then automate the "send" of each track to the different speakers... but that sounds quite fiddly (especially for things like having a sound "move around" the space in a circular motion).
As an easier option, I've heard you can use IRCAM's SPAT plugin and automate the position of individual sounds there (putting an LFO on the X and Y positions of different sounds)... but would that still work with a LiSA system?

Sorry if this is a bit basic, but I'm quite lost as to what to do, and how to do it - any guidance would be much appreciated... Thank you! 😄

Hello! I'm working on a pretty big Ableton session and have been encountering a very frustrating problem: every time I press play to listen back, Ableton just stops responding to my actions (clicks, keyboard shortcuts - anything). It doesn't "freeze" like can usually happen - the screen is the exact same, it just doesn't respond to anything and keeps playing for a good minute or two. I can't even display the Ableton window from the taskbar on top of another window - I have to reduce all the other windows to be able to see Ableton.

Does anyone have any insight as to what the problem is / any suggestions as to how to fix it? Thanks!! :,)

I'm writing a piece of music heavily inspired by Frutiger Aero (starting with a very frutiger-aero-sound and gradually distorting/glitching it) and am looking for samples that I could use as a starting point. Would anyone here be able to point me towards sounds/samples that are very "typically" Frutiger-Aero-esque? (Preferably not an actual song with vocals, rather more instrumental/electronic/synthey stuff)

I've found a few things but just asking here in case people have other suggestions!
