Best books on Russian Revolution and early Stalinism

Not looking for a political/philosophical book on the merits, or lack thereof, of the revolution or Stalinism, just want a historical account of the what happened for what reasons over this time.

MontoyaGate Stock up, Stock Down

Stock Up:

Smokes. Comes out of this looking vindicated and less like the office douche.

Pres. Thought he was officially washed until his performance today.

Mook. I know this sub hates him but he’s continued to do his job despite his boss personally despising him and attacking him online.

Neutral:

Keegs. Gets to celebrate the down fall of one of her enemies but is a hypocrite for attacking Hannah in the same method that she has complaining about others attacking her for the past like 8 years

Annika. Some vindication but also seems like she’s an epicenter for all this drama.

Austin. Seems like a bigger douche than he already appeared but also he was banging Montoya.

Stock Down:

Montoya: She had the easiest job in the world for perpetuity but just made it messy by banging her douche boss.

BFW: Compromised by his relationships with all the females in the office and can’t talk objectively on this drama

BC: Shut the fuck up about the bandana dude

How can the sales team get Reeces to sponsor building a brand new (useless) “Reeces Room” at the Chicago HQ but can’t get Bush a sponsor?

Can anyone provide of any use for building that giant room above the basketball court? I think they showed the room once on the Yak and I haven’t seen anything else.

How did they convince Reeces to pay for that? Wouldn’t it have been an easier sell them on being the sponsor of an Esports team getting 20-60k views on most of their YouTube videos?

TENET. Determinism and the Absurd man.

The key that unlocks the entire movie for me is the conversation between TP and Neil at the very end; specifically:

“The Protagonist: But can we change things if we do it differently?
Neil: "What's happened's happened." Which is an expression of faith in the mechanics of the world. It's not an excuse to do nothing.
The Protagonist: Fate?
Neil: Call it what you want.
The Protagonist: What do you call it?
Neil: Reality. Now let me go.”

Here, I interpret Neil’s “What’s happened’s happened” as past tense, present tense, and future tense.

The “mechanics of the world” in TENET’s universe must be (4 dimensionally) deterministic in order for revering an objects entropy to hold its logic.

Neil’s character seems to be the only one who has fully confronted this notion. If we are able to go back in the past without changing it, then that path of action was inevitable from the beginning. He’s realized he has no free will, that he is just a helpless actor in one big cosmic play. He then adds, “that’s not an excuse to do nothing”, to illustrate that he is not condemned by knowing this but rather he is liberated.

Much as the Abusrd Man accepts that he will never know the secrets of the universe but continues to fight for those answers and live his life passionately; Neil accepts that what has happened, and what will happen, have already happened but continues to “weave another past into the fabric of the mission” with a smile.

P.S. Pattinson’s performance in this scene is unmatched.

Buddy Doitche is a national treasure

After tonight’s performance on After dark, he’s shown to be better in the commentary booth than everyone at the company who doesn’t have rickets.

Looks like a 45 y/o version of Woody Harrelson but is 70 years old. Just causally crushing beers and asking Doitche if he can show him the clubs in Chicago this weekend. Plans to go after a hornets nest tomorrow on the Yak. The stories about his buddy the shisser.

Gotta keep peeling the layers back on this character

The Wisconsin Dells disrespect on last episode was uncalled for

On Big Cat calling it white trash: the Dells are white trash, but in a more endearing way than BC gave off. 90% of the dads in the Dells look and eat like BC and Max so they would fit right in. It’s also the perfect amount of classiness for PFT. Hank would despise the place.

On BC being surprised Romo went there with his family: Kids love the Dells, it’s literally the water park capital of the world. I’m sure they would have more fun at Noah’s arc than they would at some 5 star Cancun beach resort

P.S. PFT, the Mars Cheese Castle is in Kenosha, not Madison, and you would not drive past it on your way to the Dells if you drove from Chi (or Burlington). Also, even bringing up the Cheese Castle is a dead give away that you’re a FIB. Tourist trap, at best

Sheboygan, Wi and Cheboygan, Mi are both located on the shore of Lake Michigan-Huron and their rivers have identical names

Sheboygan has the Pigeon River, the Black River, and the Sheboygan River which is fed by the Mullet River

Cheboygan has the Black River and the Cheboygan River which is fed by the Mullet River and the Pigeon River

I know these names are not very unique but it does seem odd all the similarities. Is there any reason for this?

Was the 1/5/1950 Sheboygan Redskins defeat of the Minneapolis Lakers the biggest upset in NBA history?

Just over 75 years ago, George Mikan and the mighty Minneapolis Lakers visited Sheboygan and were upset by the Redskins in a National Basketball Association game.

The Lakers had two future Hall of Famers on the floor with Mikan and Jim Pollard, and another on the bench in coach John Kundla.

Sheboygan was a band of misfits, many whose NBA career would only last one season.

But on Jan. 5, 1950, in front of a sellout crowd of 3,400 spectators at the Sheboygan Armory, the Redskins shocked the NBA by winning, 85-82, despite a career-high 43 points from Mikan.

Sheboygan was led by Max Morris, who had a season-high 23 points. Bobby Cook added 21 for fourth 20-plus point outing of the season. Milt Schoon had 12 and Bob Brannum added 11.

In my opinion, it will forever be one of the greatest upsets in the history of professional basketball and the greatest accomplishment of the Sheboygan Redskins during their only season in the NBA.
