Second Box Had Major Issues

Sigh. We tried Home Chef back in 2020. We had a generally good experience (though not perfect) and stopped the subscription after a few months because it just wasn’t cost effective. We did love the meals though!

We decided to resubscribe at the end of September. I was feeling uninspired in the kitchen (and I generally love cooking), plus the cost is not really an issue at this point in our lives. I just really wanted convenience and new recipes to try.

Our first box went great! Everything was cold, nothing was missing, and the meals were great. We got our second box today and there were 2 major issues:

  1. They forgot an entire bag of ingredients for the burger meal we chose. They included the meat and the recipe card…but no ingredient bag.
  2. The shallot had visible mold on it and was squishy…one of the potatoes was also not the best, but something we could work around.

I did reach out to them, but it was past their customer service hours via the chat, so they should get back to me tomorrow.

We are not going to stop our subscription because we really do enjoy the meals and convenience but I hope this is not an indicator of future issues to come.

Real talk though - how do they forget an entire bag of ingredients! 😭

Isaac Slade at The Kessler in Dallas, TX 9/26

Isaac was really great last night in Dallas. The Kessler is one of my favorite venues as there really isn’t a bad seat no matter where you sit and the sound is always amazing. We were up in the reserved gallery and enjoyed the entire show. I will say, some jackass yelled, “Fuck Joe King” after the second or third song and it was awkward and rude as hell. The entire audience groaned. Isaac didn’t skip a beat and said he still loves the guys and wishes the best for them. We’ve seen both The Fray and now Isaac and they’ve never said a single negative thing about each other. It’s clear there is still major respect between them. Isaac’s opener, Mike Mains, was also fantastic!

Also, there was a really sweet girl there (didn’t get her name) but she made custom bracelets for several of the concert goers with “Isaac Slade” and “Songs I Know” on them. She was so nice, so if you read this, thank you again!!

I lost a lot of weight and I still hate my body.

Highest (recorded) weight was 283. I’m now 162. I still hate my body. It 100% has to do with loose skin. I have it on my stomach, my arms. My neck has sagging skin and I’m only 35 years old. Surgery might be a possibility one day, but I don’t honestly know if I want to spend that much money on skin removal surgery or a face/neck lift. I’d have to have several procedures.

I’ve done all this work to lose all this weight and I look in the mirror and still hate the way I look. I FEEL better health wise, but body image wise, I just don’t know how to deal. I refuse to wear tank tops because I hate the sagging skin on my arms so much. I’m careful with what I wear in general so that my excess skin on my stomach isn’t accentuated. I glance at my sagging skin on my neck several times a day just wishing it didn’t look so awful. I love fashion but there are so many things I feel like I can’t wear because I’d look so terrible in it. I’m so mad at my younger self for allowing myself to get so big to the point that I’ve forever altered my appearance in such a negative away.

I don’t know why I’m posting this. I guess just to see if any of you have moved past this hurdle without surgery and what helped you? I just don’t want to hate my body for the rest of my life.

First Oura Ring…to take or not to take on a 3 week European trip?

My first Oura ring has shipped and should be here in a few days. I’m unsure if I should take it on our upcoming 3 week trip to Europe that we leave for next weekend. Will this severely mess up the data since I’ll be changing time zones, sleeping at different hours than normal, and also walking a whole bunch? Should I just wait to use it when we return at the end of July?

Charge daily or only when needed?

I’m about to get my first oura ring (5) and I’m excited! In regard to charging, I’ve seen some people say they charge daily when they shower. I’ve seen others say they wait until it gets low on battery to charge, and I’ve ALSO seen others say they always keep it between 25-80%.

Which is best and what do you do?

Korean BBQ?

I’ve never had Korean BBQ before and I want to try it next week for my birthday! What are the top places to go to? Best meats to try? What should I know before going as a newbie? AYCE is not necessary but if you know of a good one, please recommend.

Little Tavern in Fort Worth

My husband and I saw Nate Bargatze this past weekend and needed a restaurant nearby to enjoy before the show. We went to Little Tavern on University Drive. It was our first time there and it was really good! I wish I would have taken photos of the interior and our food but I didn’t as I didn’t think I’d be sharing a review, so I’m sorry. I enjoyed a margarita and had the Zuni Salad, which had smoked chicken, walnuts, bacon, pecans, cheese, and apples. I switched out the bacon vinaigrette for honey mustard. My husband had the Creole Redfish and we also shared a side of fries with ranch. Everything was great and tasted so fresh. The service was great as well - we didn’t feel rushed at all and they had a good balance of checking on us and leaving us alone to enjoy ourselves. Overall, a really great vibe and delicious food. Highly recommend!

Mixing Metals

I want an oura ring and am eager to get the 5 since it’s new and thinner! However, my main concern is that I hate mixing metals. I wear both gold and silver jewelry. I know they make covers you can buy on Etsy or Amazon but I haven’t seen any for the 5 yet (I’m sure it will take time). Anyone else with a similar issue and what has been your solution?

Joey’s Wall

Every morning on my way to work, I pass through a small downtown area and see this wall. I think of Pacey and Joey every time!
