Obviously, his body got ripped off and we see blood coming out of his neck, we can safely assume that hurt a lot. It is played partly as a joke, but Vox clearly suffers in this state. He frequently turns his screen off and looks tired/confused, and even though he can hop around on his own to some degree, it doesn't seem like he could cover any meaningful distance that way, so he has to be carried.

And even then when he tries to be his regular old self, talking to Val about how he got carried away and laughing, he gets hit by this static glitch that is clearly painful to him. Like he doesn't have energy to communicate properly, or it hurts to do so. Maybe both. His body will regenerate, but we haven't seen how that works for sinners, or if they'll just attach his old body back and wait for the wires and nerves to connect again.

Both procedures seem to involve a degree of pain and discomfort. Probably why the Vees sedate him. It could be a way to subdue him emotionally, for he most likely experiences psychological pain after the events of Season 2, but also pain of the physical nature.

He definitely should face the consequences of his actions and I think he's already paying the price with this. I don't want to see him suffer more, but sadly I think it is inevitable... Call all the nurse sharks to nurse him back to health! He deserves a second chance. No way for him to go but up. I will always root for him and cheer for his character growth. I love Vox.
