burned out and scared of making another wrong career move

I know something needs to change but almost more scared of making the wrong change than staying where I am.

tried coaching, therapy and career assessments before. Some helped but after all that time and money, I’m still unsure what comes next.

I work in project management and feel permanently on. A few months ago I took a weekend away to reset, but ended up alone in the hotel answering Slack while everyone else was at dinner. Nothing was even urgent. That was when I realized how hard it had become to actually disconnect.

I’ve tried better routines, exercise and protecting my evenings, but I can’t tell if I need a new career or better boundaries.

Has anyone worked with a coach for burnout and career direction?

Nervous about going to rehab

I’m prolly checking into rehab sometime next week. I’ve been sober for about three weeks, but this isn’t my first time getting this far. Usually I do okay for a month or two, convince myself I’m fine, then somehow end up drinking again.

This time my family and I agreed that I need more than trying to handle everything alone. I’m actually okay with going, but I have pretty bad social anxiety and the thought of group therapy already has me stressed. I’m also not used to being away from home for more than a few days.

Worried about my brother

My younger brother is 27 and has been in residential rehab for almost three weeks because of his drinking. Things got pretty bad over the last couple of years, and after trying to quit on his own and relapsing, he finally agreed to get help. We were relieved, but now he keeps saying the place feels weird and he might want to leave early. My parents are paying out of pocket, but honestly we’re more worried about him coming home before he feels ready and falling back into the same routine. For anyone who has been through rehab or supported someone through it, how did you know the program was actually helping, and what should a family pay attention to before someone leaves?

Need help picking a birthday gift for my boyfriend

My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and I’m completely stuck on what to get him again this year huhu. He’s 25, works in tech, and spends a lot of his free time gaming or messing around with his PC. He also buys himself pretty much anything he wants, which makes this way harder.

I thought about getting him a new monitor or some PC upgrade, but I don’t know enough about his setup to pick something that’ll actually work. My budget is around $500, but I’m open to spending less if I find something he’d genuinely like.

Last year I got him a nice hoodie and he still wears it constantly, so I’m also thinking about something practical this time.

What have you gotten your boyfriend or partner that they actually loved?

I think I’m overthinking which red light device to get

I’ve been looking into red light therapy for a few weeks and somehow I feel more confused now than when I started lol. I first got interested because my skin has been breaking out again, and my neck and shoulders have been getting pretty stiff from sitting at my desk all day.

Now I’m stuck looking at masks, handheld lights, belts, panels, different wavelengths and all the other stuff that comes with choosing a device. Mainly I like to improve my skin and maybe help with some hair thinning but being able to use something on my neck and shoulders would be nice too.

For people who actually use this stuff regularly, what did you start with?

First time setting up payroll after converting contractors to employees

I'm helping a small company that's setting up US payroll for the first time, and we're moving a few contractors to employee status. I thought payroll would be the easy part, but now I'm realizing there are tax withholdings, state registrations, direct deposit setup, and payroll filings to figure out before the first pay run.

I want to get this right from day one instead of fixing mistakes later. For those who've set up payroll from scratch, what did you wish you'd known before running the first payroll?

Has anyone seen results from short red light sessions a couple times a week?

I started using red light therapy a few weeks ago because I wanted to help my skin and recovery, but I think I might have gone too hard at the beginning. I tried longer sessions and ended up feeling like my skin got more sensitive, so I stopped and scaled everything back.

Now I'm wondering if there's any point in doing just one or two 5-minute sessions a week. I'm also thinking about using only the red light setting and skipping near infrared for now to see if my skin tolerates it better. Has anyone taken this slower approach and still noticed benefits?

Hiring internationally without blowing the budget, how did you handle it?

Our team grew faster than expected and we need more devs. Local salaries are too high for us as a small company. We got good candidates from other countries but once I checked payroll, taxes, and legal stuff it got way more complicated than I thought. I want to do it right but not spend months on setup before hiring.

Anyone dealt with this? What worked better for you, is EOR is better option for this?

Solo HR is starting to feel impossible, how are you all keeping up?

IDK if this is the right sure but I'm the only HR person at a small company, and lately it feels like every new hire comes with five more things to do. One minute I'm handling onboarding, the next I'm answering payroll questions, updating policies, and trying to fill three open roles at the same time.

The recruiting part is what's killing me. I have a pile of applications sitting there, but finding the time to properly review them is getting harder every week. I don't want to rush through resumes and miss good candidates, but I also can't leave roles open forever.

For those of you doing HR on your own, how are you managing hiring without falling behind on everything else? Any tools or workflow changes that actually made a difference?

Regret our payroll choice, trying not to make the same mistake

About a year ago we switched payroll providers because the old one couldn't keep up with our growing team. Everything looked great in the demo, so we mostly compared features and pricing. Fast forward a few months and we started running into slow support, payment issues, and way more manual work than we expected.

Now we're looking at switching again, and I don't want to repeat the same mistake. This time I'm paying more attention to support, compliance, onboarding, and how the platform actually works after implementation instead of just the sales pitch.

If you've been through a payroll migration, what do you wish you'd checked before signing the contract?

Has anyone tried layering adhesive tabs?

I've been experimenting with different ways to get a better seal because I have a couple of nails with a flatter shape that always end up with tiny gaps. Glue works well, but I like using tabs when I know I'll want to change my nails sooner.

The other night I had a random thought. Instead of using one adhesive tab, has anyone tried stacking two really thin tabs to fill the curve better? Or does that just make the press on less secure?

I'm curious if anyone has actually tested this before I waste a whole set trying it myself. If you found another trick for getting rid of those tiny gaps, I'd love to hear it.

Does anyone regret their global payroll platform after switching?

My company is quite growing and our payroll setup is starting to struggle. We have a small team handling employees from US and other countries so we need something that won't add more work for us.

We narrowed it down to a couple of options but unfortunately every time we get close to making a decision, our team comes across with mixed reviews.

What are guys considering in making decisions about switching to a global payroll platform?

How would you make money from a local food page

I randomly came across a bakery in a community post and realized they'd been open for months without me knowing.

It made me think about how many great local spots just fly under the radar

I guess making post about new openings their menu updates and even food events would help them reach their audience which they should focus.

But, i don't know how like this usually make money without feeling like constant ads. like sponsored posts, paid features, deals, something else?
