Looking for shoe recommendations

Hi! I am a 48yo F, 6 weeks post surgery (trimalleolar fracture, 2 plates and 14 screws). I’ll be out of my boot next week and I’m looking for comfortable shoe recommendations for walking. Hokas or something similar?

Thanks!!

Looking for a simple light timer that easily turns off after a set amount of time

I’m looking for a “simple” (meaning, not “smart” like Siri or Alexa or Echo, etc) device that will turn off my bedside lamp automatically after a certain amount of time. This can be set to the same amount of time or I can manually set it. I don’t mind having an app on my phone, but that’s as complicated as I’ll get. I’ve been searching for something like this on and off for the past couple years, and I can’t seem to find anything. So I figured I’d post here in case anyone can help. Thanks so much!

(I’m looking for this because I’d like to get back into the habit of reading before bed, but I don’t like waking up a couple hours later to turn off my light. Because then, inevitably, I can’t get back to sleep.)

Help! Picking up stitches (garter vs stockinette)

Hi! I’m knitting the Lacey Loop Tee by Other Loops and the pattern requires you to knit the edge stitches in stockinette. (I’m assuming this makes it easier to pick up the stitches later?)

Of course, I keep forgetting to do this during the garter sections and I’m just wondering if this will cause an issue when I go to pick up the stitches later?

Should I frog back and fix? Or can I plod on?

Also, if you do recommend frogging… I’m a somewhat adventurous beginner, and here’s what my approach would be… do you agree?

  1. Frog back until the neck line is separated.
  2. Drop the edge stitches along the arm holes and neck line and change the garter stitches to stockinette.

Thanks!!

Need help with COBRA plan

Hi! I need help navigating COBRA because between WEX and UHC, I want to throw my laptop out the window.

Here's my situation:

5/8 - Last day at old job. Benefits ended at end of day.

5/9 - ER visit.

5/12, 5/15 - subsequent Dr visits

5/18 - First day at new job. Benefits kicked in starting today.

6/10 - Signed up for COBRA retroactively effective starting on 5/9 and paid the monthly fee for May.

6/10 - I then terminated this plan, because I didn't need coverage anymore.

I have been calling UHC daily and they say that they only see my new plan, with coverage starting on 5/18.

Did I screw myself over by terminating my coverage? I figured I didn't want to keep COBRA open for the many months it will probably take to reconcile these charges that I incurred between 5/9 and 5/18.

Many thanks!

To plop or not to plop?

Do you plop? If so, do you use a flour sack, t-shirt, bamboo, microfiber or other material? And if. It, I’m curious why not and what you do instead.

Thanks!

ETA: I’m in the US, I have 3B/C hair, and my budget is ~$15-20.

Starting new job with a broken ankle. How do I access new health insurance immediately?

I’ll keep this brief. I recently accepted a new job, quit my job, and then immediately broke my ankle. See below for timeline.

Fri 5/8 Last day of old job
Sat 5/9 Broke my ankle, went to ER
Sun 5/10 Picked up Rx
5/12, 5/14 Surgery consultations
Mon 5/18 Start new job
Tue 5/19 Surgery

My questions are:
1a) should I get Cobra to pay for ER visit and Rx and dr visits on 5/9, 5/10, 5/12, and 5/14?
1b) Can you just get Cobra for just a week? Or will I pay for the whole month?
2) how will I tell the surgeon’s office to charge my new insurance for the surgery on 5/19?

Just curious/confused about what this whole process will look like.

Thank you!!!

Printer question (urgent)

Hi! I’ve posted here before and it’s been incredibly helpful. I am organizing a fundraiser event for this evening and I’m still struggling with printer issues.

I want to have an order ticket print every time and attended places an order online or a cashier creates an order using the Square POS app on their phone/tablet.

Last night we were doing a tech dry run, and new order tickets were not printing. I think this was a Wi-Fi issue, but I just want to tackle all my bases.

Please let me know how to ensure that all order tickets immediately print to the printer. I have the printer connected via Bluetooth to my phone and I have a profile created that prints in person and online order tickets.

Additionally, one question I have is, do the cashiers need to also be connected to the printer? Or is there a setting where Square just knows to print all order tickets?

In my testing last week, a friend was able to place an order online, and an order ticket did print to my printer. But, I’m just a little panicked and wanna make sure I have everything set up correctly for this evening’s event.

Thanks so much!
