It’s Wednesday, let’s do our weekly venting post

It’s Wednesday, I’m sure we have a list of things that are just getting under our skin at this point. I’ll start – let’s talk about meals. At our Center families need to bring in lunch. We only supply snack. My classroom is 2.9-8 year-olds. It’s not ideal and I’ve reached my limit this summer with the older kids. One of my 3.7-year-olds is still extremely immature, but she is the baby of four other siblings and mom works at the Center so she often gets away with a lot of crap. Every day this kid gets chocolate pudding and no one in her family has sat and taught her how to eat like a normal human being. I think mom knows that this pudding cup drives me bonkers and purposely sends it , sometimes it’s her main meal. When I help her open it, I have to now take the cover away because when she would lick the lid, it would start from her forehead and go all the way down to her clothes. I can no longer have pitchers of milk and water on the table for the kids to help themselves because she slimed them up so bad that no one wanted to touch them and then I would have to spend time scraping pudding and saliva off of these pitchers. She constantly drops the pudding cup so pudding splatters everywhere and we’re not allowed to have mops at our center and asking a immature three year-old to clean up pudding from the floor makes a bigger mess that I get to deal with on my hands and knees.

Who needs a post where you can just vent?

Well, here it is, vent away. I know we all need a space to just let it all out.

Here’s mine – I love when staff show up late complaining about traffic while carrying their takeout meal from the local donut shop or McDonald’s. Meanwhile, I’ve been at the Center since before 7 AM by myself, I have three upset infants, I have two hyper toddlers and two angry preschoolers who fight like siblings. I’ve been left like this alone for over an hour as the next staff member, who is actually the director of the Center, comes strolling in with all of their takeout food saying sorry traffic was bad. But then they still don’t come in the room to help because they’ll go and do other things including eating their breakfast. That’s ok, I’ve got it, I only have more kids being dropped off and I’m changing a poopy diaper while cleaning spit up off the floor.

So, what’s your complaint this week?

One nice thing about this surgery….

In the past of if I added something new to my diet unsure of how it would affect my health and weight, if I gained weight from it I’d immediately stop eating it. But at that point the damage was done and my body would decide to keep packing on the weight.

Now if I add something new and see the scale go up, I immediately eliminate it from my diet and boom, weight loss!!! Those few extra pounds I gained are gone, like what should happen to a normal body.

Root canal or extraction?

After years of constant antibiotics, my teeth are starting to fall apart. A few years ago I had the molar just in front of an upper wisdom tooth pulled. Because my teeth are close together they found decay in the wisdom tooth but didn’t want to treat.

I’ve started the process of having fillings replaced but one tooth was really unhappy when I went to have it done. Thats the other molar in front of the one that was pulled. They still tried and after 2 injections of Novocain and then one injection of something stronger, I could still feel the pain. Temp filling went in and they sent me to endodontics to figure things out.

Because the wisdom tooth moved forward a bit they want me to do a root canal and then a crown and then for the one that needs a filling, they’ll do the filling and then a crown, fingers crossed no root canal. My last root canal, I felt everything and it was the worst experience ever.

Do I really go through the very expensive and nightmare of a root canal on a wisdom tooth or do I pull it? I’d love to be able to pull it and then ask them while I’m out to do the work on the other tooth. But do I pull the wisdom tooth and then have 2 missing in the same area or root canal and crown?

Road trip snacks

I am coming up on my two year anniversary from having my sleeve done. I have a 9 Hour road trip coming up and I need some snack ideas. I’m going to be very limited in drinking anything because I don’t need to stop constantly for bathroom breaks, and I can only eat so many meat sticks.

Sensory table cutting activities

What’s in your sensory table to practice cutting with scissors? I’m looking for new ideas.

I like to add things and just let them go to town cutting things up to help strengthen their scissors skills. Their favorite is cutting up straws because they fling off and go everywhere.

I’m looking for some other ideas to help mix things up a bit and can be as fun as the straws to help hold their interest

Could my knee pain be related?

I don’t know what kind of bug is going around but I’m on my 3rd week of coughing a croup like cough. It went through all of our classrooms.

It started as a chest tightness. I thought I pulled a muscle right in the center of my chest. Then muscle fatigue mostly in my legs, then a day of diarrhea. Then the cough started and 2 days of a temp of 99.8 (I usually run low 97).

I still have the cough but now my knees hurt like crazy. I haven’t changed my routine, I even had a little more downtime this past weekend and just rested. The tops of my knees hurt so bad. Is this related to whatever this bug is or am I just old?

Yay, I have an aid for the summer….

But it’s pointless…. I can’t leave her, I can’t have her bring the kids to the bathroom, she can’t do anything… I have 9 kids for the summer but if one has to go to the bathroom, we all have to leave and bring them. So how helpful is an aid if she can’t help with anything. So frustrating

A song that’s fitting for giraffes

For a theater performance and the theme is the zoo. So I need something along the line if we did lions and tigers then we could do the song roar by Katy Perry but what song could I do for extremely tall to extremely small people dressed up as giraffes?

Those going through the summer, what do you cut back on curriculum wise?

My first working summer in 10 years. I’m so sad

I’m not doing my typical morning meeting with calendar, days of school counting or weather. I’m going to start reading the Magic Treehouse series and take the time to catch the younger ones up who aren’t getting the proper support from our toddler room (I’m pre-k but we don’t have a 3’s teacher so I get 2.9-8). Our younger kids have little to no fine motor skills because of our toddler teacher.

We’ll also spend a lot of time outside doing water play.

What does your summer look like?

Love my new Forester, but I found my first problem

I have a new 2026 Subaru and I absolutely love this car. The only problem I have found with it is the phone charging plate. It’s a good concept, I like the idea. I really thought when I was test driving it it was going to be stupid and that every time I went around the corner, the phone would slide around, but it doesn’t. The problem I do have with it is now that it’s summer and the car is hot the black charging plate is scorching hot and fries the phone. The phone can’t charge because the plate is too hot and even with the air-conditioning going it takes too long to cool it down to be able to use the charging plate. I can’t be the only one that has the same problem, am I?

Celebration ideas

I’m a small business owner of an athletic club for kids and young adults. We’ll be entering our 5th season in the fall and I want to do a big celebration at this time next year. We normally do a year end team dinner but I’d like to do something a bit more special.

Some suggestions so far is Kimball’s and a Boston harbor dinner cruise (although one coach is worried about the cruise and safety).

I’d love to explore more options. Guest wise, we could be looking at 70-90 people of athletes, parents and siblings.

What names from our generation do you think will never be used again?

I know 4 Christine’s and they are all the same age, 54-55. I don’t see kids with this name (educator, I see a lot of kids). I know a million Jennifer’s but don’t see anyone under 45 with this name.
What names from our GenX era do you not see coming around again?
