After almost 10 years of searching and recently moving to a country with little to no Mexican food, I finally found my boyfriend’s favorite salsa.

My boyfriend was obsessed with the salsa at a little hole in the wall Mexican place by his work. He is from Arizona so living in a different city, salsa was definitely his comfort food. He insisted that it was the best salsa he ever tasted. We even moved back to Phoenix and he would talk about how much he missed that salsa. I tried dozens of recipes, every salsa verde you could find in a jar, and it didn’t compare.

We ended up moving to Australia and we have been desperate for good salsa. I found some guys food blog who said the best you can get is La Costena Green Salsa. I had one taste and immediately realized it’s that restaurants salsa!!

I’m not sure why I have never tried it, it’s always been available, and cheap!! We should have just asked the restaurant! Also this might be the happiest day of my boyfriend’s life.

What is the quintessential millennial tattoo?

My votes are the nautical star, a sparrow behind the ear and a feather on your back. I would love to see pics if you do in fact have these tattoos lol.

Another doubles sucks post, but my doubles UTR is 1.86 and I just have to laugh.

I have been playing comp tennis for three years now. Started with USTA at the 3.0 level, and in my second season I won all of my (5) singles matches. Was pretty shit at doubles, but since moving to an area where all comp tennis is doubles, I have gotten pretty good!

Still feel more comfortable at the base line, but my volleys have improved a lot! Unfortunately, I’m in an annoying position where I am playing at a low level where 75% of my points are lost from me hitting a good shot that sets up my net player, but my net player is too inexperienced to convert. I lose almost all of my service games this way. I feel like if I want to get out of this cycle of losing I have to start hitting easy shots that my opponents can easily hit back cross court to me and just start dinking in my serves. I would get no joy out of that though, so I just stay losing.

Today I finally got the chance to play with a decent player who is 3.0 UTR. We tied against players in the 2.75-3.0 UTR range. My unforced errors were much lower than my partners, but I know she will be given the UTR credit and I will maybe be bumped to 2.0. lol

Doubles is fun, but it is very annoying that your wins/losses and ultimately your rating is very partner dependent, but at least I am still a 3.0 UTR in singles so I don’t feel too bad about myself. Haha

What was your aim username?

Mine was “paintitblack” until some hipster chick offered me $50 for it and as a 13 year old, that amount of money was too good to pass up!

I then changed it to “andshewas” based off the talking heads song.

Clearly I still make my usernames off my favorite songs.

My sweet Ernie had TPLO surgery.

Despite the setback, he is still his happy go lucky goofy self. I feel so sorry for him as he really is the most kind hearted, gentle, and well meaning dog I have had the pleasure of knowing. Surgery went well and he is healing nicely. Unfortunately he needs the other knee fixed as well, so it will be at least 4 months until he can run freely, but I know this all will have been worth it.

Have any of you been to Serenbe, Georgia? I wonder if it was part of the inspo for Serenity.

I know the show is based in South Carolina, but it’s filmed in Georgia! The town definitely reminds of Serenbe though, had a bf whose dad lived out there, it was fun to visit. Very rich and artsy, had a lot of cute community events/markets, like Serenity.

Anyone else watch this show mostly for the clothes?

I appreciate that they dress the cast in shops I actually buy clothes at (anthro, sezanne…) and they are not all wearing designer. I have actually bought a few items that were on this show! I want Maddie scalloped top/pant combo she wore in episode 4 but it’s sold out. :(

Any other shows you watch for the style? I love the clothes on Ginny and Georgia too!

How do you feel about locals introducing you to people from your home country?

I was thinking back on the time I worked at a US steak restaurant and one of my friends/coworkers was from Romania. I joined the bank that was in the same shopping center as the restaurant and one of the tellers who worked there was also from Romania and around the same age as my friend at the restaurant. They even had the same name! (Simona)

Anyways, I convinced bank Simona to come meet restaurant Simona, and they instantly hated each other! I felt really bad for introducing them as I already befriended both and didn’t want to gossip about the other!

I have only been an expat for a year and haven’t been in the position where I have had been introduced to another American yet. I have met other Americans though and honestly they were so weird. I wouldn’t want to be introduced to them either.. ha ha

I’m from US in AUS and today, for the third time, I have met an American and didn’t realize they were American until they pointed it out. Not sure why I didn’t immediately know by their accent..

I am surrounded by so many accents these days it’s getting harder to tell them apart.
