I’m bringing my handwriting-first digital planner to iPad, looking for beta feedback

Hi everyone!

I’m the developer of Scribble Calendar & Planner, I’ve been building it for Android, released five years ago, and I’m now bringing it to iOS. I’d love to get feedback from people who actually use digital planners in their everyday lives.

ScribblCal is designed primarily for iPad and Apple Pencil. The idea is to make planning feel less like filling out forms and more like using a real planner, where you can write, sketch, annotate and organize your thoughts in your own way.

A few things you can do with it:

  • Calendar: yearly, monthly, weekly and daily views with real-time calendar events
  • Timeboxing: give your day some structure without losing the flexibility of handwriting
  • Notes: sketch, brainstorm or write things down freely
  • Mood, health and habit tracking: reflect on your days in your own handwriting

I think of the workflow as Plan - Focus - Reflect

The iOS version is currently in external TestFlight beta while its App Store release is under review. If you’d like to try it on your iPad and share honest feedback, you can join here:

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/dcrvac4G

It's free, there’s no account or registration required, and all planner data stays on your device.

I’d especially love to hear from people who use Apple Pencil for planning. What feels natural? What’s missing? What would make this something you’d want to use every day?

Thanks for taking a look! 🙂

EDCPS: Elite Dangerous Colonisation Planner & Solver v1.1.0

o7 CMDRs,

I recently built an open-source web based Colonisation Planner & Solver because I couldn't find an actively maintained tool that could automatically plan facilities around my goals.

Unlike a manual planner, it generates a build plan from your existing facilities, target economies, and constraints, including the optimal build order (see screenshots). You can still tweak the result manually, import data from your Journal or Spansh, and everything runs entirely in your browser, so your data stays on your device. Feedback and in-game observations are very welcome.

Git it a try: https://gaborauth.github.io/ed-colonisation-planner/

What's new in the v1.1.0?

This whole v1.1.0 has largely been driven by real user feedback, several of the fixes were reported issues. Thank you guys for the precious feedbacks!

- No more pointless demolish-then-rebuild. If the solver used to suggest tearing down a facility just to rebuild the exact same building right after.

- "Leave empty" slot toggle. You can now mark a specific empty slot as off-limits to the solver, without having to reduce that body's total slot count.

- Per-economy preferences. New Must / Want / Don't want / Forbid controls per economy type, so you can steer the solver toward (or away from) specific economies on top of its usual scoring.

- Delete saved systems, plus a cleaner Import system panel. Journal and Spansh tabs now both use a consistent pick-then-Load flow.

- Primary station bug fix. Fixed a real double-counting bug where manually filling a slot and then assigning it as your primary station could throw off your orbital/ground totals.

- Spansh import fix. A star's own asteroid belt was silently disappearing when importing via Spansh, now shows up as its own buildable location, same as a real Journal upload.

- UI polish: a real blocking dialog (with progress bar) while the solver runs instead of an easy-to-miss banner; the primary station field is now visually impossible to miss; clearer panel titles and labels; Score constraints rows now have short descriptions; and the "Solved system" results panel is visually emphasized.

EDCP: Colonisation Planner v1.0.1

o7 CMDRs,

I recently built a web based colonisation planner, because I couldn't find an actively maintained tool that could solve my questions (Which facilities do I actually need to reach a specific economy? and How can I maximize the final economy of my system?), so I built one.

It's like Raven Colonial, you can plan an entire system manually, but you can use the "solver" that plan the entire system automatically top of your built facilities, and it lets you experiment with different layouts (including demolish some) and gives you a build order to reach your desired goal, also you can select various constraints (system scores min - max and facilities min - max at the moment; economy selector already on my to do list).

https://gaborauth.github.io/ed-colonisation-planner/

https://preview.redd.it/3gh0ri6a5rfh1.jpg?width=1385&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c97a1c1781c008ef15474acc443e198377b257b2

What's new?

An in-app "About/Help" panel explaining the tool and guiding journal-scanning workflow; a "Spansh" tab alongside the existing Journal-file import, letting you search Spansh's system database by name and load a system's data directly - no need to have personally scanned it in-game first; and a full per-row Build Order ledger (Built/Demolish/Planned, running T2/T3 point totals) replacing the previous summary-only build order view.

Fixes and polish that change how it feels to use: solving no longer freezes the UI; several build-order/scheduling bugs were fixed so the computed build sequence no longer errors out on systems with heavy demolition; score constraints are now shown inline instead of tucked in a separate panel; the "Buildings" pane was renamed to "Constructions" for clarity; and the toolbar gained a proper system switcher plus a fix for a bug where it (and the rest of the summary bar) would vanish after a page reload. The footer now shows the app's version number with a working changelog link.

This whole v1.0.1 has largely been driven by real user feedback, several of the fixes above (the toolbar-disappearing-after-reload bug, the build-order ordering errors under heavy demolition, the Spansh load bug) were reported issues. Thank you guys for the precious feedbacks!

Open-source, web based Colonisation Planner

o7 CMDRs,

I recently built an open-source colonisation planner, because I couldn't find an actively maintained tool that could answer my questions (Which facilities do I actually need to reach a specific economy? and How can I maximize the final economy of my system?), so I built one.

It's like Raven Colonial, you can plan an entire system manually, but you can use the "solver" that plan the entire system automatically top of your built facilities, and it lets you experiment with different layouts (including demolish some) and gives you a build order to reach your desired goal, also you can select various constraints (I have system score constraints and facility constraints in my head already to implement).

Live planner:
https://gaborauth.github.io/ed-colonisation-planner/

Source code:
https://github.com/gaborauth/ed-colonisation-planner/

The planner is 100% client-side. It doesn't require an account or a backend server, and all your colony plans stay in your browser, any you can export your systems as JSON and import them again on another browser.

This also means you can analyse and plan newly discovered systems before deciding whether to submit their data to community services like EDDN, Spansh or Inara. If you're exploring or surveying potential colony sites and want to keep that information private for a while, nothing leaves your device unless you choose to share it.

The project is completely open source, so bug reports, feature requests and pull requests are all welcome. Hopefully some fellow CMDRs will find it useful, please test it! :)

Thanks for u/Dry-Progress-1769 for the original Python based project, and thanks for u/DaftMav for the updated spreadsheet!

Time-based MMO strategy game - iPhone/iPad beta

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a free online time-based strategy game as a hobby project for the past 14 years. The game is inspired by classic empire-building strategy games like Freeciv, but has evolved into its own persistent MMO world where hundreds of players can share the same map. Players expand their territory, found cities, research technologies, manage resources, build civilian and military units, trade, and communicate through an in-game chat.

The game is completely free: no ads, no pay-to-win, no energy system, just an open hobby project that has been evolving for many years. There are no AI opponents. Every civilization you encounter belongs to another player.

It's probably not for everyone. This is a slow-paced strategy game where a single world can stay active for months. If you enjoy planning ahead, building an empire over time, and checking in a few times a day rather than playing for hours at once, you might enjoy it. The world is persistent across months, so every decision has long-term consequences and your civilization continues to evolve over weeks or months.

Until now it has been available on Android, Windows and Web. I have finally finished the first iPhone/iPad version, which has just been approved for TestFlight external testing.

If you'd like to help test it, I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially regarding your iPhone and iPad experience. The gameplay itself more-or-less tested on the other platforms.

Kánikula régen

https://preview.redd.it/wnahmgrnuz9h1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=68e98897b98566247c95701ec0895ffc20791f65

Help with the resume of the mowing

So, I have an M9, today, I started a new zone mowing job manually, and something happened with the bot, suspect it because of the message "the machine is stuck", but it started the recharge, and now it sits on the station with 100% battery and does nothing.

If I try to set something, it shows the 'task is process" dialog, so that the task is ongoing...

What can I do to push the bot to continue the job? :)

Mutatunk néhány trükköt, amivel légkondi nélkül is lehűtheti otthonát

A cikk többi része oké.

Unfinished work

My M9 started the scheduled mowing yesterday, then after two hours of work it announced that it had completed the task and was going back to charge, but the task was not completed, it had mowed about half of it as it should have. What could be causing this?

The first picture shows the "completed" task, the second picture shows the messages in chronological order, the third picture shows how it should be (I just positioned the zone incorrectly there).

There are several trees, bushes, flowers, raised beds, etc., so it has to skip many small areas. Firmware 1.0.53.

Schedule + rain bug

Either I caught a bug or I don't understand how scheduling works. :)

So, I have two areas, let's call them back and front lawns, I set the schedule to mow the front lawn on Monday-Wednesday-Friday 9am, and the back lawn on Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. This works fine, but it rained yesterday, the bot started mowing the back lawn, but it withdrew due to the rain, and then it could only continue in the late afternoon (from ~4pm) , but I set the schedule to mow until 8:30pm, because I didn't want to use it in the dark. At 8:30pm it withdrew nicely, saying its shift was over.

However, today, at 9am, it should start mowing the front lawn, but it's sitting in the dock and still "working" on yesterday's task, so does it wait for the next appointment for the back lawn (which is tomorrow at 9am) and skip a full cycle for the front lawn?

How can this be managed well, so that, it doesn't mow at night, if it can't finish it, it starts in the morning or skip the half-finished zone and start a new zone according to timing? Also, I tried to resume the yesterday's task manually, but it started to mow the full map instead.

What did I miss?

u/gaborauth — 4 months ago

First impressions of an M9

So, today the M9 arrived, I installed the necessary things (RTK, dock and cables), set everything up and added the first area to the map. I was afraid it wouldn't be ablo to, but it can easily climb over a 4-5 cm difference in level, as you can see in the picture (the cat is watching from a decent distance).

Question: how can I increase the size of the map? When I edit the map, it cuts off from the existing one and I haven't found a clear solution to "add-walk" to the existing map (I started with a small area of ~80 square meters), which I would expand day by day.

Also, it looks like it cuts accurately and nicely, it avoided the legs of the bench and table, I think it would avoid the cat too, but the cat won't wait. :)

Questions about the M9

I'm considering an Anthbot M9 robotic mower. As far as I know, it's LiDAR-free and only uses RTK plus two cameras for navigation, and it's relatively cheap, but the reviews say it's actually quite good. My other option would be the M5 LiDAR version, if the LiDAR really necessary.

The whole property is about 2000 square meters (~half acre), but only around half or one-third of it actually needs mowing (roughly 600–800 square meters), basically only the areas we actively use. The rest includes "undisturbed" sections, vegetable gardens, raised beds, trees, bushes, and so on. In theory I'd divide it into 10–15 zones, because I probably wouldn't want to map the entire zig-zag-shaped property as one big area, assuming that's possible. Smaller separate zones would be better. Can it handle that many zones with scheduling?

Wi-Fi coverage is available, and if necessary I can add a dedicated access point for it. There’s a ~10 square meter always-open firewood/tool storage shed with a covered OSB + bitumen shingle roof. I don't think it blocks GPS signal much, but it protects things from rain, and that’s where the base station would be. It’s roughly in the middle of the maintained area, and the mower would have to travel at most about 50–60 meters to reach the property boundary. The RTK station would also be there. Is it can be cover the area or I need more RTK beacon?

The property has a slope of about 7 meters over 100 meters, so nothing extreme, but there are some terraced sections here and there with 10–15–20 cm level differences. All of them are accessible on wheels, but how safely can the mower approach these without risking falling off? How accurate is its fixed positioning, and how well do the cameras recognize and avoid these edges?

There are also random objects left around the garden: trees, bushes, flowers, tall ornamental grass, wheelbarrows, cats, bicycles, etc. How well does it detect and avoid these on its own, without specifically teaching or mapping them?

If the grass grows right up to the fence and there’s no edging stone, how much grass does it leave uncut along the fence line? How closely does it approach fences? I assume I’d still need to occasionally go around with an edge trimmer.

Nálatok most mi a valós helyzet?
