Guys be honest, when you started to learn guitar, did you imagine it was going to be as difficult as it actually ended up being for you?

I remember when I started learning, I set myself the goal of being able to play John Mayer songs in 6 months. Poor me, I had no idea what was coming.

I'm from Costa Rica, saved 4 years to attend to a Costa Rica game for this WC. Guess WHICH country did not classify 😭. Now i have to wait another 4 years. I'm so mad with my national team, best world cup ever and they decided to just suck

Can you feel my pain guys?

I only buy games once I've finished the current one. But since I have so many in my backlog, I don't want to buy the older ones because I feel like their mechanics are outdated and I'll get bored. Is that normal?

And in the end, of all the games I once saved, I end up playing very, very few. I hate being like this.

Help us build the future of interactive e-drumming. Slopsmith: Open-source, free, and growing each day

One of the best ways to learn an instrument is through a fun, interactive approach. Unfortunately, music app developers rarely implement all the features the community actually wants. Because of this, u/xasiklas and the Rocksmith community decided to forge their own path and revolutionize how we play music interactively: Slopsmith.

Today, just 40 days after its creation, Slopsmith already boasts incredible features:

- Real Instruments: Play guitar, bass, piano, (and soon, drums) interactively following the proven formula of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but using real instruments.

- Precise Note Detection: Highly accurate hit and note tracking.

- Audio Stems Separation: Isolate or adjust the volume of any instrument. Want to mute the drums of your favorite song so only your playing fills the room? You can.

- VST Integration: Connect your favorite VST software directly to the application.

- Full Practice System: Loop any specific section of a song you want to master.

- Instant Custom Songs: Upload any song, or create it yourself using the built-in song editor. With just a Guitar Pro (.gp) file and a YouTube link, you can be playing your favorite track within minutes.

- 4-Player Split Screen: Gather your band and display up to 4 instrument highways on a single monitor or TV.

- Multiplayer Support: Play together with others online.

- 100% Free & Open-Source: Absolutely free. Anyone can contribute, meaning literally any idea or feature can be added to the app.

As you can see, the guitar and bass experience is already incredibly robust. But now, we need to talk about drums.

Right now, our drum implementation is not that fancy. Most of our core developers came from the Rocksmith community, meaning our collective DNA is heavily biased toward stringed instruments.

However, we know there is GIANT potential for drums. Our goal is to become the ultimate, definitive tool for interactive drumming. We haven't reached a consensus yet on what the ideal note highway should look like—whether we should build an improved version of the Rock Band or Phase Shift layout, or create something entirely new that natively supports dynamics, open/closed hi-hats, ghost notes, and more.

What we do know is that just like we did with the other instruments, we can build our dream tool together as a community. Step by step, hand in hand, with everyone contributing their unique experience and best ideas.

Let's build the ultimate drumming tool together.
