Should I get a P365 AXG Legion or upgrade grip Module on my X-Macro

I own an early P365 X-Macro Comp that shoots great. It always surprises me how capable it is. Faster I shoot, the more I feel the comp helps. I upgraded the trigger to the M-carbo long ago and it's less creepy or gritty than the stock trigger but it still has a creepy rolling break. Despite that, it conceals well and shoots great. Today I handled a P365 AXG legion at a LGS and it felt great in my hands and better than my stock X-Macro. I started wondering should I upgrade to the AXG Legion but then I see all these reports about swapping an Icarus Ace 311 grip module onto my X-Macro. I wonder if that's a worthy upgrade or should I grab a P365 AXG Legion?

I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer here. I don't really need what would essentially be two P365 X-Macros. It's a rabbit hole to chase new grip modules and other upgrades when I am getting on just fine with my stock X-Macro. But the better feeling grip frame goes a long way to improve my shooting experience. Thoughts?

Shield EZ - Slide won't go to slide lock after cleaning

I shot my wife's 9mm EZ Shield today and it seems to shoot a bit low with a combat hold but overall the groups are good and the gun has a nice recoil impulse. This model has the grip safety and also a thumb safety.

I field stripped it to clean and lube when I got home but when I put the slide back on the frame I can't seem to get the slide to go back far enough to lock the slide so I can then flip the take down lever back into place. Weird. My M&P 2.0's reassembled like butter.

I am not depressing the beavertail grip safety and the manual thumb safety is disengaged as I move the slide back on the rails. The recoil appears to be centered and in place. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: FIXED. I checked YouTube learned the trick, thank you! The end of the recoil guide rod is not perfectly circular like every other pistol I own. There is a flat side that needs to be in a specific orientation where it butts up against the barrel I had the flat side going up and down but it needed to be sideways. That did the trick! Thx!

P365 X-Macro Comp VS P365 DH3

I've owned an Sig P365 X-Macro comp for several years and recently wanted to try the P365AXG Legion or DH3 version to evaluate and compare. I rented the DH3 today at my local range and shot it side-by-side with my X-Macro comp.

The DH3 Grip does feel a little nicer. It fills my hand just a little better than the X-Macro. The magwell is a nice addition but I thought it would plant my grip more securely. It wasn't much different to be honest.

Shooting impressions; Honestly I didn't feel or notice much difference between the X-Macro Comp with its slightly shorter barrel than the DH3.

The photo with my X-Macro Comp shows the combined results of the DH3 and the X-Macro Comp at 7yds. I just wanted to gauge feel so I didn't feel the need to shoot different groups. Both guns share similar accuracy. The DH3 that I rented only had iron sights but shot great groups. My X-Macro has a Holosun 507K and I can pinpoint shots better with the optic.

In the end, I see no need to buy a P365 DH3 nor do I feel it's an upgrade (for me).The main differences I noticed was from the different grips. If anything this exercise makes me more interested in checking out an Icarus Precision grip or Mischief Machine grip module for my X-Macro. ..except the slimmer stock grip may be easier to conceal without printing. Hmmm???

P226 XFive Reserve - I did a thing!

I recently rented a P226 X5 STAS stainless pistol and I was blown away how accurate it was and how great it felt in my hand. I also tried an XFive Legion in the same session and was equally impressed but somehow I the stainless steel frame P226 XFive was speaking to me more loudly. I immediately went searching online and stumbled upon this brand new P226 XFive Reserve for $2599. That's like the best of the Legion and the stainless STAS model in one. The Polished DLC and Lok Gridlock grips iced it for me. This isn't chump change but being a limited edition that mostly dried up a year ago, I had to do it! Time will tell whether I still pine for the non ported Stainless P226 XFive STAS. (I found one locally and in a weak moment anything is possible. <snicker, ...sigh>

I opted for the Sig Romeo X Pro open emitter optic since it mounts directly in a low profile. The gunsmith at my FFL dealer install the Romeo X Pro since it was convenient. He used a bore sighting tool and was concerned the elevation was maxed out. Edit: The next day I took it to the range and was able to zero the red dot just fine! I considered an enclosed emitter Romeo X Pro but decided it was not necessary since this gun is mostly a range toy and occasional competition pistol.

BTW: My Wheeler digital trigger gauge shows an average trigger pull weight over 5 pulls some where around 2 lbs!! Wow!

Sig P211 GTO versus Kimber 2K11 - Leaning toward GTO

I'm interested in buying either an Sig P211 GTO or a Kimber 2K11 Comp in a version yet to be determined. I haven't had a chance to shoot either but I think a local range has a GTO I can rent. I'd like to A-B the Kimber 2K11 but they don't have one so I am doing my due diligence. Usage is primarily a range toy and possibly some occasional wildcat *hit factor* matches. These are for fun and training and they aren't militant about weight or other details. I'm not good enough to worry about being competitive. I just want to improve and have fun. FYI - I have smaller and lighter EDC pistols so that's not a concern.

I found some at a local gun shop so I was able put my hands on a P211 GTO, GTO Equinox, Kimber Pro Royal, Kimber Pro Comp and a standard Kimber 2K11 5" non-comp'd today. I was surprised how different the different variants felt in my hands. The grips were different on each of these and that affected how they felt in my hands in the gun shop. The gun that felt best in my hands was the P211 GTO Equinox. This model looks like it has Lok grips? If not, they look like Lok grips. I'm not sure how I feel about the polished area's on the slide. I tend to go for blacked out pistols. But it was sexy.

I've been watching all the Youtube comparisons. Seems like the Kimber might be slightly more accurate and a better trigger. The Series 80 trigger in the GTO however can be improved or converted to series 70 so that's not a deal breaker or maker. I have a feeling I'll have more fun with the GTO Comp and in this case, I might opt for the Equinox because it felt better in my hand.

Open to suggestions and comments from those who have these or have shot them?

M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp - Apex Trigger first shots

I had an Apex trigger installed and also an Apex barrel fitted to my M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp. I bought the Apex trigger based on all the reports I've read saying it's the one to get. When I took the pistol to my gunsmith, he had a M&P 2.0 with an Overwatch Precision trigger and honestly it was stunning. But since I already had the Apex I decided to move forward with it.

First thoughts: The long take-up is definitely compared to the stock 2.0 trigger. Check! The trigger pull weight however feels roughly the same as the stock trigger but wait for the edit after the gunsmith made a spring change. When I was at the range zeroing the dot because of the new barrel I shot slow fire for accuracy testing and the trigger pull seemed stiff & I was disappointed. The Overwatch trigger in the gunsmiths M&P 2.0 was vastly lighter and crisper. I checked trigger pull on my Wheeler digital trigger gauge and the Apex measured 4.2lbs average over 5 pulls. Target photo from the range was at 10 yards medium cadence after zeroing.

EDIT (day after creating this post) I took the pistol back to my gunsmith to discuss the heavier-than-expected trigger pull. He swapped a spring and the Apex trigger is now lighter and crisper and I love it!! Yay!

As a backup alternative, I have an Overwatch trigger that I ordered to try in one of my other M&P 2.0 Metal pistols.

NGD! M&P 2.0 Compact Spec VI - First shots

I just go back from my 1st range day with the M&P 2.0 Metal Compact Spec VI. I took advantage of a $200 Discount from Turners for the week of July 4th! Nice!

The Spec VI is factory finished in a champagne colored cerakote finish with four inline ports on the top of the barrel. Comes stock with a direct mount Aimpoint Acro P-2 red dot sight & Floyd's magwell with three 15 round mags utilizing Floyd's base pads.

After zeroing the Aimpoint Acro P-2, I got down to business to evaluate the overall feel, recoil impulse, return to zero and reliability. I am 5'10, 180, average size hands (large glove size) The compact grip with the Floyds Magwell fits my hand like a glove.

I am incredibly excited at how flat and sweet this pistol shoots. After zeroing the Acro P-2 I shot 200 rounds of S&B 124gr FMJ and was easily punching one big hole at 10 yards with a medium to quick cadence. (See dot, send it, repeat) I tried some doubles too. The pistol is incredibly flat shooting and easy to manage recoil with mild muzzle rise. It's pretty east to keep the dot in the window. I was concerned because I've never shot an Acro before and the window is rather small. I am used to shooting Holosun 507 Comp RDS or SRO's.

I compared the M&P 2.0 Spec VI directly to my M&P 2.0 Carry Comp which has a full size grip, 17 Rd mags and sa single chunk port at the front of the barrel opposed to the Spec VI four inline ports and compact grip. The Spec VI shot flatter and was easier to keep the red dot in the window of the Acro P-2 with its smaller window compared to the M&P 2.0 Carry Comp and a Holosun 507 Comp Green dot. I am very impressed with the Spec VI.

Trigger pull weight is decent at 3 lbs 11oz's but in slow fire, I wish there was less take up before the wall and I would prefer a more crisp 'break'. That's an Apex Tactical trigger job away from being exactly what I want.

M&P Monday - Competitor HD and 2.0 Metal Carry Comp

I picked up a 2.0 Competitor HD steel frame a few weeks ago and liked it so much I quickly added a 2.0 Metal Carry Comp 4.25". Since the slides are compatible I was able to make a steel frame 4.25" Carry Comp. The results shooting the steel frame Carry comp were very good but if I'm being honest, the 5" Competitor HD steel frame pistol still shot flatter to me. Both pistols have Red dots. SRO on the M&P 2.0 Competitor HD and Holosun 507 Comp green on the Carry Comp. More to come. This post is mostly for M&P Monday. Sorry I didn't get any targets or videos. Just an informal range day.

M&P 2.0 Carry Comp and M&P 2.0 Competitor Metal HD - In Da House!

As promised, I picked up an M&P 2.0 Carry Comp in addition to the new M&P 2.0 Competitor Metal HD. I haven't swapped slides yet but I will give that a try. I am heading to the range Monday to do some initial impressions and break-in with the Carry Comp.

I am super impressed with these recent 2.0 models from 2026. Kinda cool to have interoperability within the M&P 2.0 eco system. Makes swapping, mixing & matching easier. Slides, Mags, Holsters etc. More to come! #M&PGang

Update edit a day later. I'm back from the range. The Carry Comp is absolutely superb. I spent time zeroing the Red dot, did some general accuracy shooting slow fire to confirm the dot at 7, 10, 15 and 25 yards. My groups opened way up at 25 yards but I have a feeling that was 'me', not the pistol.

I compared to the full size 5" M&P 2.0 Competitor Metal HD (steel frame). I felt the full size competitor HD was a little faster returning to zero but I was very impressed with the Carry Comp. I put maybe 200 rds of 124gr FMJ through the Carry Comp.

A friend let me shoot 50 rds through his Walther PDP Pro 4" with the upgraded performance trigger. The trigger on the Walther PDP was better. I.e. It has a shorter take up before the wall and the break felt lighter than the M&P 2.0 Carry Comp. But the muzzle flip in direct comparison was annoyingly snappier on the Walther. I largely prefer the handling and recoil impulse of the M&P 2.0 Carry Comp.

My slow fire accuracy shooting made me want a trigger with a lighter break on the M&P 2.0. But when I was shooting at a faster cadence including doubles, then I forgot about the trigger weight (4.5 lbs) on the M&P. I largely prefer the return to zero of the Carry Comp.

First Shots M&P 2.0 Competitor HD

First 50 Rds 115GR - 10 Yards - Irons only

First 30 Rds 115gr Magtech - 10 yrds - Irons Only

I took my new M&P 2.0 Metal Competitor HD to the indoor range today for break in and initial impressions. Short answer: Excellent! Zero issues, no malfunctions.

I shot 200 rds of Magtech 115gr FMJ at 10 yards with iron sights. The recoil impulse is extremely user friendly and I was able to shoot doubles in the A zone pretty well considering the longer trigger take up before the wall and the light-ish reset.

I'll install my RDS tomorrow. I'll probably repurpose my SRO (red) that came off another pistol I sold. But I am also considering a Holosun 507 Comp. Yes I already own the SRO but I expect to buy an M&P 2.0 Carry Comp very soon so I am probably going to grab another 507 Comp. In anticipation I already acquired CK Dogtag plates for an SRO and/or RMR/507 Comp. So I'm good to go either way.

I will likely add an Apex trigger when the black ones are back in stock but after todays results, I am happy to shoot with the stock trigger and see how it works out and/or breaks-in if at all?. The stock trigger pull measures around 4lbs - 4.25lbs on my Wheeler digital trigger gauge.

I really like the texture on the grips and need more trigger time to decide if I need anything more aggressive. I left the stock (medium) backstrap in place and haven't tried the others yet. I'm 5'10" and wear large gloves. My hands are average size. I'm happy with the feel so far.

Once I get my RDS installed I'll zero around 15-20 yds to start and then see how it groups further out.

Overall, I am absolutely thrilled initially. 250 rounds went fast. The last box I shot was 124gr S&B and I preferred the recoil impulse with 124gr more than 115's which is to be expected I suppose.

The pistol feels very natural in my hands and is a very natural and intuitive pointing pistol. I am excited to put more BB's through this gun!
