Running without a watch? Todays run was shit

I’m considering running without a watch. I was doing fine during my run until I noticed my heart rate was way up there and my pace was much slower than I expected. I noticed it at the first km out of 5. My run went downhill from there.
The only thing stopping me from not using my watch is that i am very weak minded and i feel amazing every time i hit a PB.

Got humbled by two fast runners😂

Today while running, two other runners flew past me. They were so much faster in comparison that I immediately felt bad and, without even realizing it, started speeding up to try to keep up. Of course, I only noticed after a while that I was getting tired and struggling.

Then I saw they were doing intervals, which honestly made me feel a little better haha. They were both young, skinny men, while I’m a 160 cm, 30 yo and looking back, I feel like that probably counts for something too 😂. These thoughts only came to me after I finished my run.

Comparison really is the thief of joy. I absolutely love running, but maaaan, in that moment I hated myself when they passed me.

Lesson learned: everyone is on their own journey, and you never know what someone else’s training actually looks like. Now I’m just proud that I showed up and finished my run in this heattt

Still, watching someone casually zoom past you is a humbling experience lol

160 Calories, 22g Protein, and Surprisingly Delicious

A while ago, someone shared this recipe in this sub. It was meant to be an appetizer, but with the quantities I used, it became a full meal for now haha i might get hungry later.

The entire bowl is only 160 calories and packs 22 g of protein. I’m genuinely shocked by how delicious it is. Before today, I had never tried miso soup, konjac noodles, or tofu.
Safe to say I’ll be making this again. It’s so good.

Ingredients:
Half a packet of miso
100 g konjac noodles
50 g shrimp
100 g tofu

Calorie estimate challenge: how close can you get for this pasta dish?

Hi everyone,

I weighed everything and I know the exact calories of this plate of pasta. I often see people asking for calorie estimates, and I’m curious how close the community can get with a visual guess.

This plate contains:
- no oil or butter
- spices: oregano, garlic, salt
- 350 g pasta
- 30 g Gouda cheese
- 20 g tomato sauce

What would you estimate the total calories to be?

Should i stop tracking calories for 48 hours?

Picture is 250ml french quark with chia, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. It might not look like it but its super delish. 342 cal, 32,5g protein, 11g fiber.

Hi! I usually just comment on other posts, but this is my first time posting here and I’d really appreciate some advice.
I’m heading off today for a short trip to Spain (I live in Europe, but it’s still a few hours by flight). I’ve prepared a healthy salad for the journey, so I think I’ll be fine during the travel itself.
What I’m more unsure about is the next two days. I’m only staying for two nights, so I’ll be eating out for two breakfasts and two dinners. From what I’ve experienced in Spain, a lot of food tends to be quite heavy with olive oil, which makes it harder for me to estimate and track.
I’m considering not counting calories for the next 48 hours and just resuming as normal afterwards. I’m also thinking about how to balance it out with my usual routine when I get back.

What would you suggest?

Edit: thank you everyone! Im going to enjoy these coming days and get back on track when im back home

Why is my pace getting slower even though I’ve been running for 2 months?

Hi everyone,

I’m a bit concerned about my heart rate while running. I use an Apple Watch Series 6, if that matters.
I started running about two months ago, and I’ve noticed that my pace seems to be getting slower rather than faster. My heart rate is still quite high, even when I’m running very slowly.
I started with run/walk intervals, but as the walking portions have gotten shorter, my running pace has actually become slower. Right now I’m running for 16 minutes, walking for 45 seconds, then running for another 16 minutes and walking for 45 seconds.

Is this normal for a beginner? Has anyone else experienced this?
Should I be paying attention to my pace and heart rate at this stage, or is it better to just focus on consistency and building endurance?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are there other modest runners out there? I need some real-life advice

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to hear from women who run in modest clothing, whether that’s for religious reasons or just personal preference.
I wear a hijab and modest athletic clothing, and I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences because I honestly don’t know anyone like me in real life. I live in an area where pretty much everyone runs in shorts and sports bras. Everyone is respectful and I’ve never had any issues, but I never see anyone else running dressed the way I do.

One thing I’m especially curious about is sweat. How do you manage it when you’re wearing more layers or covering your hair? Do you just get used to it over time, or have you found certain fabrics or clothing styles that make a big difference?
I’d also love to hear about your overall experience as a modest runner. What has worked well for you, what hasn’t, and anything you wish you’d known when you first started!

Running shoe advice needed

My ASICS Kayano 31 order got cancelled, so I’m looking for a replacement.
I’m currently running in ASICS Gel Contend 9 but they are worn out. I’ve had some knee overload issues in the past from increased training load, and I’m also cautious about my Achilles (no pain, just trying to prevent issues).
I prefer ASICS, but I’m open to other brands if they’re a better option.
What would you recommend?
(Im a beginner)
