GL1500 aux input mod, need help
I don't know if I should be putting this in some sort of soldering subreddit or audio subreddit or this one but here it goes.
I followed the guide and installed it. I found most of my devices won't even detect that a headphone is plugged in. I found my steam deck didn't care and would output audio anyway but where there is regular dialog or a quieter portion of the song there is crackling when audio starts again.
I've read a few forums and watched one or two videos on how to do this. I've never soldered before so I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or what.
I've been mainly using this forum post for guidance. https://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5316&\_\_cf\_chl\_f\_tk=tGr7SxOx60AmLxaPDUCMUBgyBc6yCX7me3\_azaOVA18-1783185926-1.0.1.1-S\_OhJ7mljeEIMI1nwmLFR7qXXQHqSDlIeKUG0uwI7Vc
My board looked slightly different than the one in that forum but I used the same c139 and c140 points for install
I used this cable from Amazon: https://a.co/d/01FEr68R
I used flux on my iron, the board, and the cord ends. I tinned the ends, and it appears I'm getting good adhesion of the wire to the contact after soldering.
I went back in and changed my ground to a different location and resoldered the left and right channel again and added a little more solder to all 3. It doesn't look like anything is touching anything else. No change in behavior
The picture of the board is before I changed grounds and added more solder.
Any tips? I love how many people on that forum say they did it and it works great and is so easy lol it's frustrating
