GL1500 aux input mod, need help

I don't know if I should be putting this in some sort of soldering subreddit or audio subreddit or this one but here it goes.

I followed the guide and installed it. I found most of my devices won't even detect that a headphone is plugged in. I found my steam deck didn't care and would output audio anyway but where there is regular dialog or a quieter portion of the song there is crackling when audio starts again.

I've read a few forums and watched one or two videos on how to do this. I've never soldered before so I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or what.

I've been mainly using this forum post for guidance. https://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5316&\_\_cf\_chl\_f\_tk=tGr7SxOx60AmLxaPDUCMUBgyBc6yCX7me3\_azaOVA18-1783185926-1.0.1.1-S\_OhJ7mljeEIMI1nwmLFR7qXXQHqSDlIeKUG0uwI7Vc

My board looked slightly different than the one in that forum but I used the same c139 and c140 points for install

I used this cable from Amazon: https://a.co/d/01FEr68R

I used flux on my iron, the board, and the cord ends. I tinned the ends, and it appears I'm getting good adhesion of the wire to the contact after soldering.

I went back in and changed my ground to a different location and resoldered the left and right channel again and added a little more solder to all 3. It doesn't look like anything is touching anything else. No change in behavior

The picture of the board is before I changed grounds and added more solder.

Any tips? I love how many people on that forum say they did it and it works great and is so easy lol it's frustrating

Window molding on side of house rotting

Good afternoon! I'm still pretty new to the home maintenance bit. The last time I cut my grass I decided to look up and noticed the paint coming off of the window molding, took a closer look and peeled a little to find the wood for the molding rotting. I've attached some pictures.

Did the paint cause this or something else?

Is it a piece of wood behind it that can be replaced and then put new molding on top of it?

What's the black fabric looking stuff?

Be easy on me, I want to be able to fix this myself as I'm pretty hands on and I like learning, I'm handy on vehicles but I have minimal experience with wood and houses.

What stops someone from making a chatpad that interfaces the way the OEM does. You know like without a USB dongle like all these aftermarkets do.

Side note, all y'all selling these chatpads for the money you have been, need to take a hard look at yourself lol
