Gamebreakers

Getting some wear on these bad boys - chopping and stacking wood.

Predator Natural Gamebreaker quick ship. They fit a little on the big side when I first got them but I used a Birkenstock A630 foot bed to add some arch support and they feel pretty damn good as they are breaking in.

I had an issue with my pro delta insert as the width at my toes had my big toe falling off the insert (13F no bueno) so I tried these out and they fit great.

The Sierra sole feels great and is flexible enough and def has enough grip for the terrain I’m dealing with. (Loose dirt - hills) Originally bought these for hiking but haven’t been able to test them out yet. These were the only boots I brought on my week vacation and they’ve been great.

If only 12.5F was more popular…

If you’re a boring 10D it’s your lucky day!

That’s jealousy I’m not being an ass I promise.

Totes ma’goats

I received my Pacific waxed flesh tote a couple days ago and I haven’t stopped using it since.

I know it might not be for everyone, but I think this is a great all purpose bag. Yes I could be using a throwaway fabric bag for the same purpose, but you can’t admire the patina of a nice Horween waxed flesh every time you grab it!

Excited to get my matching boots soon. Thanks guys for trying something different. Keep up the good work.

Side note- correct those are not Nick’s inside my tote… I’m awaiting a 4 inch boot from the may sample sale to fill that void.

Second sidenote- I didn’t get a pic, but my 8 inch troopers fit in the bag pretty well sole down sole up. Not quite enough space to get boots side-by-side with the soles down. Keep in mind I’m a 13F.

Roberts - Black Waxed Flesh

It’s been a minute since I wore these Roberts and it’s such a great boot. Hard to pick a favorite Nicks -

The black waxed flesh has broken in nicely and they are so damn comfortable.

I haven’t abused these much so not much of the rough out is coming through. Just some on the toes and heels. Not the best photos but wanted to share.

Finally putting them to work

I’m sure a couple of you can relate… I fell down the Nicks rabbit hole and replaced a bunch of my boots after getting my first pair and realizing I’ve found some boots that I can get behind!

Fit - Finish- Durability - The People - USA made 👍👍

I received this pair from the RTS a month or two ago and haven’t had a chance to get them into the rotation.

Had to go up to the lake to get some work done so I figured that’d be a great time as these builder pros are going to be a work boot after all.

I love the weathershield leather, though these babies are stiff moving logs in 85 degree sun shine. A full delta arch insert is working great after they felt a little big off the jump. (I’ve been playing with 1/2 size down on Thurman lately) But for a work boot I’d like them to be a little bigger for thicker socks in the winter. Happy Customer here.

The build -

Builder Pro
TNW
10”
4 row cap
Black stitching
Weathershield Brown
Moderate - Block heel

Natural Nicks Belt

Edit: I should add this is my first 10” boot from Nicks and I’m loving how secure my ankles feel - I’ve had ankle issues for years. 8” is nice but 10 really locks you in.

PWF Tote - obligatory Rough Shot pics

I grabbed a tote from the last run and I’m excited to have it in my hands!

I’m hoping I can fit a pair of boots in it as that will be its main purpose. I find myself bringing a pair with me or needing to cart them around more often that not these days. That and really anything else. I’ve been a bag junky for years. Never have enough.

Anyone else grab one? I’ve had my eye on pacific waxed flesh for a while and caved for the memorial sale and then this.

I saw a competitor tote pop up for double the price after grabbing this. (Filson) - I think it’s a great value for what you get - even though I don’t have it in my hands I trust I’ll love it.

Original post deleted after reading the subs rules closer.

Oh and did I mention I love these boots!

Wellington break-in

At the lake for the holiday weekend and have been putting some time in these MTO Wellingtons. Sun isn’t shining but it’s not stopping us!

I had some instep troubles initially and had sized down so I was concerned I made a mistake. After some creative stretching (softball wiffel ball and instep stretcher) and taking them off a few times (maybe 10) they are relenting some. Haha - I actually had skin pulled off the first time I took them off!

I can already tell they are going to be one of my favorites. It used to take me 3-5 minutes to get them on and now I can do it in probably 30 seconds.

Some heel slip but not that bad - they do feel a bit like ski boots right now - I was planning to put a 1/2 delta arch in but rocking without until the break in some more. That made them even harder to take off.

Happy Memorial Day to all of you. 🇺🇸

New ‘26 X7 M60i - what are people doing for winter tires/wheels?

Hey, I just picked up my new X7 and I love the wheels that came with it but I will need a setup for winter driving and wanted to know what others are doing. I’m in the Midwest and we have long winters here with snow and ice.

This is after the 3hr drive home so mind the dead bugs - I didn’t get a pic before the drive home. Loving this car so far! Still a lot to learn about it.

TSA loves Nicks Boots

Headed out to Chi town on a work trip and decided to pack my new Cinnamon Rough Shots for the conference. These 67 last boots are super comfortable.

Figured I’d put them in my carry on and wear some sneakers through security so I wouldn’t have to hassle with TSA.

Nope… they got flagged in my carry on and ended up having a good discussion with the TSA guy about quality MITUS boots. Thought that was hilarious. Spreading the word. 🫡

Pics of boots for context.

Troopers at the softball game

These Troopers in 64 Brown have been seeing some miles lately. The natural edge dressing was virtually gone after the snow this winter so I sanded them down and finished them thanks to some good advice here. I think they turned out great for my first time but I’d do some things differently next time.

At our daughter’s softball game this evening and brought our yellow lab Maisie to cheer her on. Go Pistons!

Full Delta Arch - Comparison

As I am here trying to dial in a new pair of Wellingtons with a couple pairs of Delta Arches I figured it may be helpful to show the difference of the “Premium” Delta Arch to the standard DA.

The Premium DA is made of 100% Veg Tan leather and should mold to your foot nicely. One thing that isn’t mentioned is they are substantially thicker than the standard offering. (5/16” thick new) This can be of use if you have some additional space to take up. I’m not sure if after break in they are similar thicknesses as the pictured insoles are new to barely used. I didn’t measure the other delta arches as my arches can’t handle taking these boots off again right now! Taking these off is no joke when new - this is my first slip on from Nicks. From reading that gets better, let’s hope!

I have the DA half soles as well. Those are good for a boot that may not have the space for the full length insole. I’ve used these the most on my Troopers.

I started with the Premium DA in the Wellington as I had a great deal of heel slip and the instep pressure was pretty heavy but heel slip was very minimal. When switching to the regular DA there is still some instep pressure but not nearly as tight. I think these are going to work for me.

I’m kind of a nut and have at least 8 different size or type of insoles from Nicks to get that perfect feel on my boots. All of my moderate arch boots get a DA. I prefer some arch support.

Just something I thought I’d share because I don’t think I’ve seen this comparison! May be worth mentioning the thickness difference on the site?

NBD - Wellington

I’ll do a more proper review later. But I just wanted to share a couple pics as I am excited to receive this pair of Wellingtons! My first regular lead time Nicks Boot.

Build looks great - just need to make sure fit is going to work. I went 1/2 down from my laceups and that was the right move for length. I Need to try inserts because heel slip is pretty bad. Plan was a delta arch so hopefully that helps. Just haven’t had time to play with it yet. 🤞

I wasn’t expecting to pick up these whites 55 cutters in black waxed flesh but I have always appreciated the LTT and Whites does a great job with it. It’s one I’ve had my eyes on for a while. The recent clearance sale sucked me in when I saw this boot in my size.

I had already ordered these sample boots from Nicks in their 67 last in an MTO in Seidel Rough Shot Cinnamon. Kind of a risk as exposure was limited to what the leather looked like on a boot. (It actually didn’t exist) I have several pairs of Nicks at this point and I know what they are capable of when it comes to building a boot so I knew I was in a good spot.

I just received the cinnamon RS and am comparing these two different takes on waxed flesh. Horween V. Seidel.

Just sharing some shots of the boots themselves. I don’t have a ton of time to compare them but initial impression is the horween is more robust and denser feeling. I’m not sure on thickness but I get the feeling it will take more of a beating. Though I’m sure the Seidel will as well, you may just see it more. The Seidel is more supple for sure, it almost immediately molds to your foot and it shows scuffs much easier than the Horween. It is similar to a Waxy commander if you’ve had a chance to experience their take on waxed flesh. (What ever they call it)

Waxed flesh is not something I’m extremely familiar with, but from what I’ve experienced to date it is very positive. It’s a patina heavy leather and comfortable to wear. I love the direction the tanneries are taking experimenting with different techniques and can’t wait to see where it goes. The Admiral from Nicks is one of the newer projects and looks promising.

Anyone have a favorite waxed flesh? I know there are many iterations. Excited to break in these boots and see how they patina over time.

It’s been a tough wait for a lightning ship only because of seeing everyone else’s boots. It’s finally my turn!

Had a little mix up with the half soles which I’m sure added to the small delay as the Dr. sole’s do not fit my size (I wasn’t aware of this!) Nicks CS reached out to me and made it right. I’ve never seen this sole before but I think it dates back to another time here based on a quick search. I could have went Dr. sole full sole or this Biltrite sole. Decided I wanted to keep the look. So far they feel great and a welcome change from my V-Bar W/ Dr. sole heeled boots. They are much quieter and feel softer somehow.

This leather is pretty awesome! I’m pumped with it. It’s very supple and I can tell it is going to show some serious patina. Some sanding and handling marks have shown that already. If you have issues with marks on your boots this leather is not for you. I’m going to see how I deal with it haha - can be a little OCD with my boots. The color on this cinnamon is something, especially in the sun. These remind me of the wheat buck waxy commander in how easy they scuff. My aged bark (pictured) don’t show marks as clearly.

I added some pics of the kilties after one use and the rough out of this leather (not sure if that’s the right term) is super bright. Obviously the wax is darkening them quite a bit.

The fit and finish on this pair is near perfect (other than the aforementioned sanding marks) and I’m very happy with how they came out. I originally had a moderate heel selected but changed it to a classic when CS reached out. I wanted something in the middle and I’m really happy where they ended up. The dogger heel is very pronounced - my other pair does not have as steep an angle to it. But they feel really natural walking so far.

This is my first 67 last boot - I have tried the TNW - T55 - 55 - 602
I added a comparison pic here as well. Most worn pair not pictured.

So far I like the 67 - It fits similar in length to my other Nicks - just a hair long feeling out of the box (1/2-3/4 in front of the toe) but they break in nice and I typically dial with an insole. Similar feel to the 55 except for the added height.

Thanks to the entire Nicks team! Great experience - I think you should take another look at this rough shot leather in the future.

Love these videos and seeing all the boots and new leathers -

Ok, I had thought the build video short were my IBC wellingtons I posted previously and now I’m thinking it is still possible considering the timing.

Sure seems like I saw them in the BOTL video as well!

I’m just going to assume these are my boots, right guys? Haha I feel like that looks like a 12.5F Wellington in IBC. I wish there was a way to know for sure but what does it really matter.

Can’t wait for a shipping update!

Side note - I placed an order for my first engineer boot - Pullman on a 1925 last with Tan Latigo - That will be a slow burn for sure but I couldn’t pass up the chance to add that leather.

I guess I can’t share the video here. I saw this recent post drop from Nicks instagram (link above)

It looks like a new pair of IBC Wellingtons (pretty sure it’s IBC) getting built, of which I have had a pair in production for 3 weeks now. I thought they were mine and got all excited. Haha, until I saw the thumbnail and the pic shown with wedge soles (mine have V-100)

I love that they post these build clips - boot build AMSR is under rated

The anticipation is getting to me on these, I can’t wait to get them! I just hope the fit is spot on. I’m confident it will be. I did go down a 1/2 size from my laceups but I have decent space in front of my toe.

Happy Friday boot fam-
