What are these rings?
Fired from M1 in 308. In thousands of rounds I’ve fired from countless chamberings I’ve never encountered this. Very interesting to me. Does anyone know? Doesn’t rub off.

I received via shipping a pre 64 1961 model 94 in 30-30 that’s paid for and was going to do paperwork on. Looking at it I think everything looks great. Action is sturdy and smooth, but I noticed the pin on the left side looked recessed more than I’d expected. Can someone shed some light on this? Most pics I see show it to be proud like the other side as I would expect. I just want to know if there’s a potential issue. Thanks.
Just received my rifles from CMP. Decided to take the M1 in 308 for a quick trip to the range since it was end of day. Stopped and picked up a box of above ammo. I was thinking dialing and grouping was being a bit troublesome but chalked it up to a brand new barrel/maybe it just didn’t like this load etc. For context I shot 3MOA groups at the 600yd CMP range a few weeks ago with an old rental rifle they had so trouble at 100yds seemed strange to me. Moved to the 200yd here and trouble continued until my lady spotting me said she thought the last round hit the ground way in front of the target after scoring a couple impacts in the black while continuing to zero. I thought no way but when I approached the target there was obvious evidence the targets impacts weren’t all stabilizing and the target had several impacts of various pieces of shrapnel from that last round. My gut is to suspect ammo first, but does someone have experience with this ammo or rifle to share. It’s a brand new 0/0 bbl from Criterion. Thanks, guys.
Can anyone tell me if this bolt face is safe to fire? It’s from an Eddystone receiver converted to 375h&h. I suspect it was milled to prevent the last round hold open or such. Just want to know if someone has some real experience with these conversions to know if this looks any way typical. Thanks guys.
Hey guys. The grip fits pretty nicely and love the look and feel. Shot it with some pretty stout stuff and no problems. I did notice installing that there was ever slight rocking until it was tightened…I rather expected that. However for a longer term solution is there a compound and method you guys use to take up the space to make a more perfect fit so it doesn’t loosen or beat things up under recoil? Akin to bedding?…that’s not permanent of course. Thanks.
