I did a thing today.
I swapped my lower control arms because the ball joints and bushings were 26 years old. It made the front end feel much nicer. More responsive, but maybe a bit more understeer.
The tie rod ends will happen when I get my new shocks (Koni externally adjustables).
On another note, new wheels.
I was watching Bladerunner 2049 yesterday, which led to this.
It’s got the 1/4 offset sideways for the thrusters, and 1/2 offset for the cabin/reactor, etc.
Shall I call it the Rachel?
I was thinking about the timing tower…
…and had a great idea.
What if the writing was in a colour according to gain/loss of lap time to the driver ahead of them?
If you’ve gained time on the last lap, your position and name are coloured green.
If you’ve lost time on the previous lap to the driver ahead of you, your colour would be yellow.
If you’ve set the fastest lap, which is obviously faster than the driver ahead of you, your colour would be purple.
Would that be too much to consume as a watcher? Or would the implementation be too confusing?
I’ve got a secret…
…but I still have to clean the aftermath. But the sun is shining, but I gotta move the wife’s car into the garage to get out, too many things to do right now!
New rear shocks? Autocross…
So I tried out AutoX last weekend and it was incredibly fun. I know I need new rear shocks, but should I do OEM, or upgrade?
Obviously this car!has some serious body roll, and while fun, won’t ever be a contender. Blah blah blah… in to the question.
If I went with Koni yellows instead of OEM, would it make a dramatic difference in the balance to the front end, which I don’t intend on changing right now. Will it really matter?
I could accept the rear being stiffer, as it seems a little hard to turn the car with the rear right now.
Thanks.
Power outage info? (Magrath Area)
It seems the wind has knocked out power on Thursday the 14th. As of 3:30 Fortis’ website won’t load on any of my devices. I can’t get any info.
Does anyone know what the outage map says? Is there an estimated fix time?
Fog light switch
I have a 2000 2.5L, the previous owner started putting fog lights in, but struggled. Lights were there, didn’t even get the wiring connected because it didn’t match with the cheap Amazon housings he bought.
I redid the wiring at the lights themselves, then realized I needed a switch as well. I bought one off eBay and tried to install it. Big hands strike again, I couldn’t reach in the hole and find the harness.
Once again, violence ensued and I accidentally removed the dash vent/headlight switch. Well, the harness was in there and since most tutorials no longer have their pictures included (old websites) I figured I’d take a picture to share what it looks like in there.
Airbox plug?
I was just changing my headlights and my hand was way too big to change the high beam on the driver’s side so I removed the airbox.
Behold there is a port that is closed off in there. Should I remove it? I live at a higher elevation so I have less dense air than most so I only see benefit from pulling this 2” plug out.
