Student loans but baby OTW
Hi!
My husband and I have around 40k left in student loans. We started with 120K in 2024 when we graduated. We have been aggressively paying them off!! We have a baby due in November 2026.
I’ve heard when you have a baby otw to pause all debt payoff (stay current of course) but put aside all cash until baby is here and baby and mom are safe.
What are yalls thoughts on this?
For reference, we have been tackling each loan by highest interest rate. We pay the minimum payment on every loan except for the one that has a 7% variable rate (highest). We pay $800 over the minimum payment a month. It ends up being 1k a month on that loan. So, we could save around 4k before baby comes or continue putting it on the loan. That loan only has 12k left. After this one is paid off, the next highest rate is 5.5% fixed.
Sister told me I killed my baby
Hi-
Back in December 2025, I got pregnant and found out I was having a cornual ectopic pregnancy. One of the more rare ectopics. It was absolutely one of the worst things in life I have gone through and we lost our baby. After weeks of appts, monitoring and then 2 surgeries. Flash forward to today, during an argument (won’t get into details) my sister tells me “well you killed your baby”
I’ve never been more hurt in my entire life. I don’t even understand how someone could utter those words to someone who has gone through pregnancy loss.
I don’t know what I’m really looking for here. But I just am at a loss. I don’t know how to move forward from this. When she apologized to me, she told me I was just “taking it personally” and she didn’t mean it like that.
How many lenders to reach out to when buying a home? FTHB
Hi!
My husband and I are looking at buying a KB home (no advice on your opinion of KB homes please) and currently have been pre approved by their preferred lender. We of course are being incentivized to use them and will get closing cost credits as well as other promos/discounts. If we don’t use their preferred lender, would we still get those discounts?
Is it worth it to still ask around other lenders? How many lenders did you reach out to when you were buying a home?
Also worth noting that this is a “personalized build” home. So we will have to put 10K down in earnest money to secure the spot and then they will begin construction. We likely wouldn’t close until November of this year and would lock in the rate 60-30 days before close.
Thank you!!!
