I recently moved to San Antonio Texas and I’m trying to push a personal business of Appliance Repair (washers, dryers and stoves) I do have basic knowledge on HVAC and Refrigeration but I know I need certifications to be able to work in those units without getting in trouble.

I recently applied for a maintenance technician job for an apartment complex (I have knowledge in plumbing, painting, electrical, appliance repair and even property management) I have my personal tools and everything. Sadly I wasn’t hired after my interview since they went with someone with certifications. (They told me if they did hire me they would send me to classes to get certified sadly that plan fell through)

I was wondering if there are any HVAC Apprenticeships that I may be able to attend/work to be able to get certified and hopefully get a job in it. Are there any company’s that pay for you to do all that? Basically like they pay you to take the classes and certify. I’ve seen Local 142, SMART local 67. Or any schools I can pay for tuition and basically do all that.

My partner and I moved to San Antonio last year June. Since the beginning of our lease to now we have not had a mailbox which has prevented us from obtaining important documentation and personal mail.

Our first month here and we were without air conditioning for a month in the middle of summer in which the apartment was 95+ degrees in the unit. They didn’t even lend me a window unit until the last week.

Recently we have been without dishwasher for 2-3 months and nobody has came to diagnose/replace. We have paid rent on time, maintained the apartment clean and livable (I’m a clean freak).I’ve also fixed everything that was wrong in the unit (cheap and easy things) I won’t spend more money to fix the dishwasher myself.

Our lease ends in the end of September, I am trying to write them an email requesting if it would be possible to terminate the lease early of September which would allow us to move everything to our new apartment which is available end of August.

Are there any penal codes/ “threats” that I could include in the email which can help us and bend their arm to allow us to mutually end the lease without any repercussions. We’ve asked for some sort of compensation due to the distress we’ve dealt but our request have been ignored.
