It took me two months before I finally got the guts to cut my own hair.I'm still not sure how to properly use the trimmer and the foil shaver but I tried. Tools I used are a fade guide, VGR 285 clippers w/ Madeshow V power standard, Kemei 2293 trimmer, VGR 353 foil shaver and an Equinox scissors.

Any critics, tip and pointers would be appreciated.

Looking to compare how battery optimized it is compared to my X1 258v with oled at 200 nits, 57wh battery and set to battery efficiency.

I originally ran Chris Titus' Windows Utility to debloat but I guess there's way too much crap that still needed to be done manually. Before the manual debloat I was seeing a discharge rate of 6.3w on idle at full brightness with an oled panel, it's now discharging at 3.1w on idle at full brightness.

If you're seeing high draw in Windows 11 look into turning off this services among the more common ones to turn off:

Set Microsoft Office to manual instead of auto.

Side note: I did switched out the Gen 5 SK hynix ssd for a low powered Gen 4 WD SN7100 ssd. Also, at half brightness I was seeing an idle draw of around 2.6-2.8w.

Picked this up on Amazon for $29.98 and I have to say that it is a pretty robust enclosure for the price. It has a fan blower that you can feel makes the difference. I did some (might be unnecessary)slight mod and added a copper laptop heatsink to transfer the heat to the top cover.

Tested it on a Thinkpad X1 Gen 13's thunderbolt 4 and got a seq speed of 3838.67mb via CrystalDiskMark. I also tested it on a Thinkpad T430's usb 2.0 and it works without issues. I did a 100gb transfer as well as ran CrystalDiskMark 4 times and it held the temps at 34c. The ssd used is a gen 5 SK Hynix unlabelled drive that came with the Thinkpad.

I was under the impression that ssd goes to a power saving state unless you are constantly accessing the drive like file transferring?

I sold my X1 Extreme Gen 3 and an X1 Nano Gen 1 for $660 to a redditor and picked up this X1 Gen 13 for $1030 on a local FB listing. It had some scratches but nothing a magic eraser couldn't fix. There's a small ding to the screen coating that's only noticeable from an angle.

I'm honestly not that impressed with the battery life. The measurement seems to fluctuate between 4hrs-10hrs just surfing the web at half brightness. There's some regret selling off my Thinkpads to fund this upgrade.
