Starting out, why would be oldest used bike you’d buy?
I have a lead on a 2009 specialized p1 with some upgraded parts.
Is there a reason you wouldn’t buy that old of a bike? Seems like the frame geo has changed since then, but not all that much, and weight. It’s a little heavier but not by much
Had a crash a few weeks ago and finally now looking over my bike.
Tuning it up, realized the brakes seemed weak when engaging the lever.
Saw this spring sticking out. Any idea how to fix this?
This is my fist race bike. Bought built as it is from a dude so I don’t know everything yet.

When building or tuning your bike, do you torque things to the mfg spec?
I’m new in the sport and got my first bike, went over it and was torquing things to mfg spec. Talked to some guys at the track and it sees they don’t and just do “tight enough”. One guy said he used to but things that broke or came loose were all torqued to spec.
What’s the consensus?

Each roller is 10:1 and the berms are roughly 3ft tall with 10ft turn radius
I want to add a few double rollers as well and need to modify entry and exit of the berms.
Advice is welcomed! Been a ton of fun and tons of work so far but coming along. Kinda rideable for now

Found this bike locally and am interested for my kid. He’s approximately 4’1 and roughly 50lbs, and 7yrs old. He’s races bmx and has a junior sized mongoose for now
Does anyone know the weight on these? Seller said about 25lbs then said 15-20. I can’t see to find specs online for this
Also, would you recommend a 16” wheel to start? Or size up to an 18”?

Just got my first race bike. Has onyx hubs and a shimano disc brake.
When pedaling it makes this sound. Any idea if it’s normal? And what is causing it?
When buying a used bike, what tune up/once over do you do before you ride it?

I just started racing this year, and have an opportunity to buy a chase frame and a few parts for 150$ from a guy at my local track I race against.
Will need to get the rest of the parts I need but I think this could be a good bike.
What’s your opinion?
Need some help on why approach to take for this patio resurface
Patio is 14x4ft and has a top coat on it that is starting to fail. Owner said it’s been there before they moved in 14 years ago
I’m not sure what product is currently on there. But my plan is to remove all loose material, feather grind the edges smooth for a decent transition, then apply a poly/modified mortar patch then cement top coat the whole porch.
Please advise is this would be a decent approach or if you recognize the material on there that I can try and source

Painting a bedroom and after a coat of prime and 2 coats paint still have this showing up in spots. What’s best fix for this? I’m planning on another coat at a minimum
