Side to side play in my box 2 cranks
I bought this bike used and it has some play in the cranks. About 1/4" of side to side movement. Am I just missing a spacer?
Meybo clipper 21" Vs 22" advise - I am currently between sizes.
As above really. My current bike is a jet accelerator pro xl (21.25" TT) which feels fine, although I haven't ridden another race BMX so I don't have a reference point of perfection.
The frame for bent so I'm looking at a meybo clipper 2026, but they have a 21" and a 22" option which means I'm straddling both sizes.
I'm 5'9" with a 30" ISH inseam. I think that puts me in the short legs for my height territory. The meybo also has 0.5" shorter bars for both sizes.
If anybody can weigh on on what size I should get, that would be appreciated.
Below: photo showing the meybo and not the best photo, but my position on the bike which is now damaged.
Tire width
My daughter is 7 years old and has just grown out of her Mini sized bike.
So we got a Junior one.
I have two sets of tires 20x1-1/8 and 20x1-3/8.
Which ones are supposed to be faster on a concrete/dirt BMX race track?
Personally I would opt for the wider tires, as on road bikes the trend seems to go away fromthe super narrow ones...
Thx!
Good bike?
Looking for a used bike, came across this one in the local area for $200
Seems to be a pretty old model but not sure of the quality / value of it.
My 10 year olds are looking at getting into bmx racing and this would be their first bike. Seller seems to be a knowledgeable seller and the person who races. Just looking for second opinion.
Rear wheel not centered
How can i counter it? The distance is the same on both sides, i have no idea why it is like that. Can i even ride like that?
Going down a tooth in the front?
At my local races I feel like I'm having troubles with getting a good quick start, after that I've got enough speed to keep up or pass if I can find an opening. Currently running 47/17 because that's what I bought the bike with used, rollout pretty close to 44/16.
Am I just trading one problem for another if I drop to 46/17 or 43/16?
Maybe even sillier: current rear tire is Tioga Powerblock 20x1.75, I have an unused 1.6 and gear calculator says that'd be about the same rollout as going down 1 tooth in the front. Is it silly to try that first as a no-cost way to try it out?
Free Agent team Limo or Meybo Clipper… could use some advice please 😩
So it’s that time of year, BMX racing is in full swing and I wish everyone a memorable season! My son, who just turned 14 shot up like a weed since last season. He’s on a Redline Proline Pro right now and has vastly outgrew it. He’s currently 5’11 and we’re shopping around for hopefully our last frame. He prefers the XXL frames, he likes them longer for more stability and not so much interested in air time or manualing. We’re conflicted between the free agent and Meybo. Does anyone have experience between the two? Pros and cons? Things to look for? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately we have to order online as non of our bike shops carry a selection we can just go try. He has been on both an XL and XXL and prefers the XXL size much more. Thanks in advance BMX Racers of Reddit and appreciate any advice that can be given! 🏁
Tips on pumping?
I use to race as a kid many many years ago, but just now getting back into it in my 30s. I bought a 24” cruiser and can’t seem to effectively pump. I find myself losing speed in a lot of areas. I’m not sure if my timing or body positioning is off?
Explain going to the Midwest Nationals to me like I'm 5. First time at a national event.
We are still in our first full year of competitive racing. My son is a 8-year-old novice. But quickly moving up. We've only raced local races and double point races where they post motos on a board. Our first state qualifier is this weekend in KY, but have been told national events are a different beast.
He will be leveling up to Intermediate very soon (7 wins already and he wants to race a national as a novice before leveling up) and possibly expert by the end of the year being in Indiana and Kentucky.
We're going to the Midwest Nationals, and a few others this year to learn how the events work and get more involved in racing. As I mentioned, we're still learning everything.
The Midwest Nationals is going to be our first national event, ever. We have a place to stay already.
----
If you could, please explain to me how parking works, then finding your spot to sit, finding where to register for the event and then how to find out what motos you are in. I'm assuming his races will probably be "total points" or "3-4 to mains" and not featuring semi's and mains.
Looking for all the information you have. We appreciate it.
BMX calendar app
Hey everyone,
I’ve always struggled to keep track of all the Races happening.
To fix this, I’ve spent the last few months building RideRadar. It’s a free app designed to be the most complete BMX event calendar out there.
Features:
- Filters: Sort by discipline (BMX Race, Park, Flatland, etc.) and event type (Jam, World Cup, etc.) so you only see what you are interested in.
- Map: Find events near you.
- Search Functionality: Quickly find specific events or locations.
- Community-Driven: Anyone can submit an event directly in the app.
My goal is to make this a useful tool for the community. If you know of any upcoming events that are missing, I’d love if you could add them!
You can check it out here: https://rideradar.de/ or search for RideRadar in the App/Play Store.
Would love to hear your feedback or any features you’d like to see!
Help with wobbly tire, almost coming of rim
Help me pls, I can't put the tire on the rim, when there is the Word "rotation" on the tire, the control strip sticks out much more and I think I can almost see the part that catches the clincher in the rim. Generally, it's definitely the tire's fault, because regardless of the position on the rim, it always bulges when the "rotation" word says. The tire is new, installed for the second time, there was no problem on the aluminum rim at all, when i mounted it for the first time, didn't ride on it once. And it's loaded with 90 psi, the tire has a max of 110, and the rim is the same. Tire is grifter 20x1.85 and rim is staystrong V3 carbon 20x1.75
Good option? Sizing and model for 9 year old.

Bmx racing in Missoula?
Anyone know if there used to be an old bmx race track in Missoula? Maybe in the 80s? Growing up I remember someone in Great Falls at the track there donated a bunch of old trophies for us to repurpose and use and one of them said something to the effect of “Missoula BMX” on it. I also think bmx racing would do so well here! I’ve met a few families whose kids used to race and they had to stop when they moved here.
Help with wheel build
Spokes on pretty much half of the wheel are too long and poke out a lot. What have I done wrong? Or is it just take to a bike shop to get the spokes cut down to the right size?
What we're racing this season

Stay Strong V4 - just built this up for my son, new frame with a lot of takeoff parts. Currently 42/16 on Tioga FastrX S-spec, LDC 150mm cranks, we're still feeling out what gear will work best for him as he's moved up to ⅜ tires.
DK Professional X - my daughter's bike, basically the same from last summer though we've upgraded to proper euro bb and 170mm promax cf2 cranks. She's running a 44/16 on 1.5" Vee Speedsters , might be due for a bigger tire soon...
Yess World Cup OS20 - I bought this from a mate late last summer to replace my Speedwolf, the longer fit is way better for me with a 22" top tube and I dig the stability of the OS20 as well. My gearing is pretty wild at 40/14 on 1.85" Tioga OS with 172.5mm cranks.
Anyways we'll be bumming around mostly within Michigan but looking at likely the GC finals in Wisco, maybe a national in either Toronto or Indiana ,and my daughter wants to make a run at Grands (still trying to convince my son to join as well...).
My kids bikes for 2026
We haven’t been to the track yet this year but the bikes are ready.
Kid #4 - newly 6 and 46” tall, Staats Superstock mini with crupi mini 24h hubs and box rims, Sinz fork, and Rennen 30mm stem, answer micro bars. He’s between 115mm cranks and 120mm at the moment. The bike is 10.2 pounds… so close!
Kid #3 - 8 and 51” tall. Staats Bloodline Junior frame, answer mini forks, 45mm stem and 3” box bars. 135mm cranks.
Kid #2 - 10 and 60” tall. Rift Pro frame, 40mm LDC stem, and sinz expert forks. 5.5“ insight alloy bars. Made the move to 160mm two piece cranks and front 1 3/8 answer carve tire. Crupi expert wheelset.
Kid #1 - 12 and 5’8” tall. Yess Type X Pro XL frame and Reach fork because he had an all carbon fork and he cases jumps. Promax 170mm cranks. Staystrong wheelset and IRC 1.5” tires. 7” answer flat iron bars. He wants the rear wheel in tighter but we we assess the gearing and then if it’s ok think about a half link chain.
Dk bike size for 7yo
My boy is 7, is 51in tall barefooted. Im between the dk mini and junior, looking for some recommendations. Ive seen all the charts on sizing, but want some real world experience. Figured id go with the junior and shrink it until he grows into it, but thought the mini may be a better option out of the gate as this will be his first race bike. Whats everyone's thoughts?
